Septic tank is pretty common in the the Midlands where I'm from, either that or calling yanks Merkins..

Oh and shopping in Bath is great Monopod - at least it is when you come from a provincial city in the Midlands!

Ilovelblue · 20/11/2014 22:25

Oh yes, the shopping in Bath is excellent. My usual itinerary is to do the Circle and Crescent (may have even more interest in it now), the Abbey and then shopping. The Roman Baths are well worth the money but I've been about three times so unlikely to do it again this time. The Pump Room for afternoon tea is always good too!

orphan · 20/11/2014 22:42

I hadn't realised the origin of 'taters'. That's one I'm definitely going to use.

apsara03 · 20/11/2014 22:47

Defo up for trip to bath. Might look a bit odd all wandering round in combat trousers!
I too had assumed that she really meant septic tanks - combined use of space though that wouldn't make much sense given the size bastion was.
llovelblue, if you are seeing the comments n photos sounds like you've cracked it :) twitter to me is like open Facebook with a character limit. You can follow anyone. I think people use it for information sharing and publicising stuff - everything is totally public.
Sweet dreams everyone :)

Nickel45 · 20/11/2014 22:49

Would love to go to Bath ... but not very realistic for me. Went many years ago pre-kids, lovely! Would be brilliant to meet you guys!

Love the word numpty, will have to find somewhere to use that!

orphanyou should try dropping a bit of slang into conversation, just to see what happens!!

firegirl I didn't know septic tanks either. I thought it meant "plank" as in idiot!

mono - I didn't know where "moody" came from - that's clever! I just asked my DH (who comes from North London) if he know what "moody" was, and he had no idea - nor about some of the others!! Amazing that just a few miles and it's almost a whole different language.

SPO you are right, we should be proud to be on here. But I still might keep it quiet!

Right, best get back to the kitchen - have to make a load of cakes for the school cake sale and only remembered about half hour ago. Too much to do, too little time! Laters!Wink

orphan · 20/11/2014 22:51

Does anyone know if Laurielove has written any more OG fanfic? She'd said she was planning on continuing, but perhaps less steamy. I really enjoyed the last Bath story she wrote, particularly the interaction between CJ and Molly before they headed upstairs!

Ilovelblue · 20/11/2014 22:54

orphan there was nothing this afternoon. I checked after I had read the latest klip doctor. I was a bit disappointed in his latest offering (as discussed earlier). I hope Laurielove does write another one. I think hers were the best.

orphan · 20/11/2014 22:57

Yes, I thought she'd really captured the essence of the characters. Can't remember, did we discover Laurielove is actually one of us or was she just reading the threads?

Richtea19 · 20/11/2014 23:00

Threadneedle posted a link to a different fan fiction a while back which was rather racy! Might be on the VIII. I also came across a smutty one on Tumblr which was rather good! (Joshulahutchinson).

Did anyone watch The Fall tonight? He is one creepy man....
And still can't work out all the hype about him? Certainly no CJ!

orphan · 20/11/2014 23:15

Seriously creepy tonight Richtea. No, don't get the fuss about him either. I think he has a rather weak face actually, much prefer CJ. (Oh and school girl is seriously getting on my nerves now...)

Beingfrank · 20/11/2014 23:18

Couldn't agree more, Richtea, I said it a few pages ago - Jamie Dornan is very ordinary IMHO! He certainly doesn't fit my mental picture of Christian Gray. Not that I would want to see BA as CG, that just wouldn't be right!

Richtea19 · 20/11/2014 23:21

He's got a weedy looking beard and too skinny. I can't imagine him as Christian Grey, don't think I'm going to bother seeing the film as didn't like the book, so badly written. So having watched The Fall I'm not sure if I could get his character out of my mind. Creepy, serial killer, sex pest into kinky S&M !! That's a whole new thread!

SPOfficer · 20/11/2014 23:23

Oh dear I did miss a number of rhyming slang references didn't I? Must be losing my edge. More revision required. Thanks for all the info though, really interesting!

Richtea19 · 20/11/2014 23:25

School girl is very irritating , can't believe someone of her age 16? Would be confident.

orphan · 20/11/2014 23:27

She's not just confident, she's idiotic!

Ilovelblue · 20/11/2014 23:28

orphan didn't Laurielove PM NVM and say something like she was amongst us which I took to mean she posted occasionally.

orphan · 20/11/2014 23:32

OK, let's guess who she is! Could she be an alter-ego of SPO for example?!! (Cos you are a very good writer SPO)

orphan · 20/11/2014 23:34

And if you are her SPO please hurry up with the next Missed Me!Smile

Smurfingreat · 20/11/2014 23:37

Really can't guess, but agree with Orphan, more Missed Me please, I loved it!

Rhubarb01 · 21/11/2014 00:52

Evening/Morning

Oh Crikey! I went out all afternoon and evening and have had to spend ages reading everything to catch up. Lots of interesting stuff about rhyming slang. I do often tell my kids to "use your loaf!" and I'm not cockney.

*Nickel45" please put me out of my suspense and tell me how the girl is upside down in episode 3. I got the man falling down and "the other one" but was racking my brains to think when was Molly upside down? Am I being thick? I bet its something obvious. Anyone remember that game show called 'Child's Play' or something where people had to guess what the children were describing?

I've read some fan fiction but feel a bit conflicted by it and don't read it very often. I preferred the stories that were posted whilst the series was still on rather than the post-series imaginings. Sometimes, I really cringe when I read some of the ideas or the way that the characters are speaking to each other. That is the problem with fiction based on characters everyone knows because you have your own views about the direction they should take. Also, as someone has previously said, the quality of writing varies enormously and that affects your view as well.

Someone once gave me a continuation novel of Pride and Prejudice written by a successful author which I read once and absolutely hated. I also didn't like the Christmas production last year of Death Comes to Pemberley - partly because I didn't warm to the actors in the roles particularly Anna Maxwell Martin (a great actress but just not my picture of Elizabeth). Some things need to stay on the last page of a novel and not go beyond. That's an interesting point to consider with OG. If a second series is written will it live up to our expectations?

Time to sign out Night all. Look forward to tomorrow's musings

Smurfingreat · 21/11/2014 01:19

Rhubarb, Molly upside down is Molly at the beginning of the obstacle race. I'm guessing it is Kinders carrying her as he appears to be her team mate at the end when he carries her over the finish line.

Nickel45 · 21/11/2014 01:51

Yep, that's it smurfin, you'll have to go back and watch ep 3 again rhubarb, funny what kids pick up on, isnt it!

Rhubarb01 · 21/11/2014 06:52

Yes of course, thank you ladies. I'm still keeping off the OG repeats and hanging on for Christmas so that I can experience it fresh and 'lovely' all over again with the added insight of 5-6 thousand observations in my mind.

icemist · 21/11/2014 07:48

Morning,
Love all the chat on the slang Molly uses.
I've done well-although not intentionally- I've not watched a whole episode in a week! I've watched the odd bit for research purposes. Although as this group is the 1st thing I go to on my phone, followed by Twitter I don't think I'm anywhere near decompression!

Morning all! Talking of rhyming slang got up and felt a bit Moby so took a butchers in the mirror. My boat looked all right so turned round to look at my Aristotle. Nothing wrong there so went down the apples and skarpaed to work!
