SPO well done on the analysis. Its the sort of thing I would have invented at work in the past to avoid doing something more onerous. Analysis by contributor could be revealing! I love a good statistic (Lies, lies and statistics!). With graphs and a bit of animation you could produce a complete Powerpoint presentation! You could also analyse the data by subject - so we could find out the percentage of posts relating to each episode or character (probably about 95% CJ there) or how much on plot or Stag discussions. The possibilities are endless. Oh dear, getting a bit carried away and over excited at the prospect! (SAD, SAD, SAD!)

(I am also having an uncomfortable and embarrassing premonition of Graham Norton reading this out on his chat show in an over excited voice in front of celebrity guests to whom the post relates, whilst the audience laugh hysterically at my utter sadness! Aggh!)

Nickel45 · 17/11/2014 12:03

My absolute pleasure SPO, DS ended up in my bed last night (kids!) so couldn't sleep as he was so fidgety. Always a pleasure to look for pics of CJ and MD.
rhubarb, have to say a similar thought had crossed my mind, just as well it's anonymous!!
cherin, really cool that you are RL friends with people you met on a forum, have to say, I do feel like I have a bunch of new (crazy) friends, albeit that I don't know any of you!!

Smurfingreat · 17/11/2014 12:07

Morning all.

Thanks Mummyreeds and Firegirl, that has brightened up a rainy Monday morning, what a choice of song!

SPO above and beyond as usual, although I think if you got a Mr Bump to the face you might gonna need a medic Grin.

Agree with you all that Molly's Dad was a well dodge geeze in the first one. It did make sense with the plot in that one, but having remembered his behaviour in that it did make me somewhat suspicious of him in the series. when he had that glint in his eye when he heard about Mollys deployment money it was like the earlier Dad reappearing.

Richtea19 · 17/11/2014 12:45

Love love love that YouTube video of all the CJ stills. I will be saving that to my favourites.

SPO and Rhubarb I bet our CJ discussions are the same as stag discussions. The whole stag thing is hilarious, I cant go anywhere without looking. So much so, I popped into Waitrose on my way home and couldn't resist these CJ abs MD Christmas cards. I don't need any more and don't need the wrapping paper but felt compelled to purchase!

Ladies and SPO. I had a response this morning from the BBC about the rubbish interview Scott Mills did on Radio One. This is it - see what you think.

^Thanks for contacting us regarding Radio 1s Breakfast Show as broadcast on 3rd of November.

I am pleased to read you are a massive fan of the programme Our Girl however, I understand you felt unhappy with the quality of the interview between Scott Mills and Our Girl cast members Ben Aldridge and Iwan Rheon. I note you felt the questions asked were banal and didnt relate to the show.

Were naturally very sorry when we hear that members of our audience do not like our programmes or the topics covered during them, we try very hard to produce a wide range of high quality programmes and services which we hope will appeal to our audiences. As the BBC is a public service financed by the licence fee we must provide programmes which cater for the whole range of tastes.

There will always be some programmes that do not appeal to some people and this is the nature of broadcasting whereby we are serving many different people with many different expectations.

We appreciate you preferred the other interviews, please be assured I will forward your request, to have Lacey, Ben and Iwan on a chat show, to the appropriate teams.

Your views are important to us and we welcome feedback from our audience to help us create enjoyable programming for all. Id like to assure you that Ive registered your comments fully. We value your feedback, all complaints are sent to senior management and programme makers every morning and I included your points in this overnight report.^

Ilovelblue · 17/11/2014 14:31

No idea why all those question marks have appeared - they come out as apostrophes in the actual email.

Rhubarb01 · 17/11/2014 14:43

A little patronising in places, but I almost feel sorry for Scott Mills, kicked off of strictly the day before, roped in to cover at the crack of dawn and at the last minute and then told his questions were banal! Well, not that sorry.

But please don't send them onto Graham Norton's show, he'd have an absolute field day with the material on here!

SPOfficer · 17/11/2014 14:45

Rhubard and Nickel it's going to sound a bit weird but I had the very some thought about Graham Norton this morning! A few short weeks ago I would have been one of the people laughing along and shaking my head at what some people get up to on the internet. How times have changed!

ilovelblue many thanks for relaying the BBC reply. Have to wait and see what comes of it. Some of it did read a bit like a stock response though.

orphan · 17/11/2014 15:19

At the hospital whilst they are waiting for CJ to recover, Molly says to Smurf that if she had her time again, she would do everything differently. I can definitely see her wanting to handle the confrontation with Badrai in the truck better ie keeping her gun trained on him rather than running back to CJ, but what else do you think she'd want to change? Do you think she'd have avoided becoming so involved with Bashira?

Ilovelblue · 17/11/2014 15:33

I remember on one of Graham Norton's shows on a Friday night when he was interviewing the guy who played Matthew in Downton (Dan Stevens?) and reading out various comments from Twitter, Facebook etc when Matthew had died in a car crash. At the time, they seemed absolutely hilarious but not so sure what I would make of him reading out all our comments. I mean, would the general public understand the references to stags, do you think? No doubt they would recognise some of the more lewd references to CJ, however!

I thought the response from the BBC was very poorly written. Whoever wrote it out could do to improve their English!

Richtea19 · 17/11/2014 15:46

Ilove, I had forgotten you had written, bit of a standard response though, but better than no response at all. When they say forward request to Lacey, Ben and Iwan are these questions you had forwarded?
Graham Norton always berates the hard core fans of his guests, I remember when benedict cumberbatch was on and there were a load of mad people in the audence that follow him around the world. They were seriously mad though, not like us, just a bit loopy!

orphan · 17/11/2014 15:51

Is anybody else having problems with the mobile site? Having posted my last message I've now had to fire up the laptop to access the thread as on my phone and tablet it now won't show today's posts and I can only see one post at a time! Very frustrating and being a bit of a technophobe, I'm not sure if I've caused the problem. (Or is it just a sign from above that I'm spending too much time on this forum? I blame it on SPO getting me excited about the possibility of graphs...)

pixieg1rl · 17/11/2014 15:53

I'm having the same problem with the mobile site, the app is ok (but it's a crap app isn't it?)

monopod · 17/11/2014 15:57

orphan, the thread's gone funny on my mobile too - logged onto my PC to check I hadn't dreamt up the missing posts.

SPO, good analysis! You should definitely do some further drilling into the detail - by poster, topic etc.

Maybe you should even create an infogram! infogr.am/ Anyone up for the challenge?

Just thinking about Christmas present ideas today... and thought about one of those customisable mugs (and if they don't exist they should) that says"I love spreadsheets" but changes to "I love CJ" when you fill it up with hot liquid Grin

orphan · 17/11/2014 16:04

Phew! I too thought I'd finally gone completely doolally and imagined all today's posts. I hate using the laptop though as I'm a rubbish typist on it...

Richtea19 · 17/11/2014 16:04

The main site crashed today on my iPad and phone. Never use laptop as too slow to power up etc. The app on the phone is rubbish as you can't see any attachments, well I cant!

Wycombe123 · 17/11/2014 16:16

I emailed Woman's Hour (oops showing my age there) over the weekend to suggest an interview with BA etc - pointing out how popular it was and still is in some quarters.

I watched the first programme and enjoyed learning about Molly's background. Yes Dad is horrible and no doubt keeps wanting to have more children to claim more benefit's. So sad that the mother didn't go to the passing out parade - it is such a big deal for the soldiers - they look forward to it from the first day of their training. If there was a second series it would be most interesting to see BA meeting Molly's family!

Richtea19 · 17/11/2014 16:21

Her dad was a dodge geez, not very nice at all. I am watching Ep5 while ironing! He does come across better, but irritates me when he is at the medal presentation drinking beer telling everyone how wonderful Molly is when he didn't go to her passing out. He is only concerned what he can get from her, ie her deployment money.

Just at the restaurant scene (of course) probably being daft but what does she mean by "different ball bag with you an that", what's a ball bag?

monopod · 17/11/2014 16:27

Her dad still has his own interests firmly at heart - using Molly's newfound accomplishments and status to further his own ends or bolster his own standing (e.g. meeting his West Ham heroes). He's less obvious about it though; he seems to have started to try and reclaim some of the dignity he lost years before, making an effort with his wife and family and recognising that '(he'd) always been a twat' but reflecting on Molly's comment about holding his wife's hand and moving up with her. Something redeeming in that, although there's a long way to go! As many others have observed, he's already come a long way from the OG pilot when he was seriously vile.

Ball bag - I interpreted that as something like a a totally different kettle of fish? Doesn't she say the same thing when she's talking to Bashira about the Americans vs. British?

pixieg1rl · 17/11/2014 16:47

Put me down for one of those mugs monopod.

Ilovelblue · 17/11/2014 17:04

Richtea - I just suggested we may like to see them on chat shows. I think I mentioned Graham Norton, Chris Evans (both for his Radio 2 show and also the One Show. I didn't give any specific questions.

I had organised a large leaving party today for 30 people which went well. As there were so many of us, I told people to start eating as soon as it arrived otherwise it would have started to go cold whilst others were waiting. I used the CJ phrase "Dig in" but it fell on totally deaf ears. Hardly surprising really.

Nickel45 · 17/11/2014 18:31

New captain's log chapter ... Thank you klipdoctor, if you are still following this (I don't work out how to comment on the fanfic site), but it's brilliant!

Richtea19 · 17/11/2014 18:33

Thanks nickel for Klipdoctor tip off, will save until bedtime!

Rhubarb01 · 17/11/2014 19:21

We shouldn't worry too much about Graham Norton taking the mickey out of us as generally people only go on his show to promote their latest film, TV series, tour, book or album. As OG has been and gone in current TV terms there's not much danger of them being invited on the show anytime soon unless they are involved in some big project and its unlikely before a new series of OG possibly arrives - even then the timings of both shows may not coincide (well that's what I'm telling myself, anyhow).

orphan just catching up on your question. I think you're right about Bashira. Getting over involved in her life was really at the heart of everything that went wrong in Afghan right up to the point when Badrai opens fire on the bridge. She might also have liked to have gone back in a Tardis and not ended up behind the Indian Takeaway with Smurf as that really confused the situation. If they hadn't had a previous liaison its possible they might just have ended up being mates without complications!

icemist · 17/11/2014 19:57

Evening all!

Busy morning before work and then used all my data so have been 'missing in action' today.

Just catching up now.

Unless there is a new series I don't think we'll get a Ben, Lacey and Iwan interview. Could you imagine it if they read out some of our posts!!

re Molly's 'I'd do it all different' I need to ponder this.

Ooh and as I wasn't here this morning I'll post a nice bedtime shot later!
