Morning all! Touched by your concern yesterday. No mishaps in the shed just RL getting in the way!

Happy birthday BA! Off to get ready for work and stare at certain photos I have on my phone.

Beingfrank · 12/11/2014 07:57

Morning all!

I managed a "numpties" and "wait out" yesterday but that's the best I have done!.

Anyone else think that in the pics from the radio show he has a bit too much stubble - it's a bit more beard like, and I'm not a fan of beards!

Rhubarb01 · 12/11/2014 08:05

Perhaps the 'beard' was needed for filming next role. Someone suggested a period drama - I expect the 'beardy' look was big in sixteenth century!

Ilovelblue · 12/11/2014 08:20

Beingfrank agree with you on the stubble front. The Afghan look was fine and added to the overall appeal but he needed a shave really to do it for me on the radio interview. My immediate colleagues are all late 30s and are all into the stubble look currently. Must be showing my age.....!

Richtea19 · 12/11/2014 08:21

Monopod, I love the combat trousers teamed with a black vest, padded bra? I haven't been gifted with a boobs either, the padded bra is my best friend!

That photo of BA in the studio is t one of my favs, although the lip biting is rather lovely. I'm not keen on the tan suede jacket either! Maybe the beard is for a new role, or just an early morning and a quick shower and no time for a shave... Oh god here we go again. Grin

cherin · 12/11/2014 08:24

It's also very trendy, let me tell you....long hair (in a knot/tail), long beard, casual clothes, most of the under-30 I work with have been through the phase. I originally thought it was a Viking invasion. Looks like it's calming down, though. Also, not everybody can pull a beard properly ;-)

SPO don't get us scared again, please. Stay with us! We need you 100% in our side.

Last night when hubby was brushing his teeth I started the stag-in-pool (he's very meticulous in his oral hygiene). As soon as I manage to get rid of all these curious eyes around me, I'll get paper and pen out again. (It's also bucketing down so I suspect no run for me today. Very sad, I wanted to christen my new winter gear. But today I'd need more swimming costume than running jacket!)

orphan · 12/11/2014 08:36

I'm willing to overlook the dodgy tan jacket and just concentrate on what's under it. Used to really dislike beards but they're so on trend and ubiquitous that I've come to quite like the hipster bearded look.

cherin does the wet weather mean more art time? I do hope so. Have you decided on the stag six pack issue?

SPOfficer · 12/11/2014 08:40

cherin can't wait for the new drawing. Lots of facial hair in office at the moment cos of Movember. Not me though, I always ending up looking like one of the Village People.

Pencil moustaches seem to be in at the moment. I told one of my younger guys that he looked like Errol Flynn. He said 'who?' Arrgh!

orphan · 12/11/2014 08:42

When my partner grew beard and moustache for Movember he thought he looked like Van Dyke ... he didn't.

SPOfficer · 12/11/2014 08:43

Oh and by the way Cherin don't worry I am 100% by your (virtual) side!

orphan · 12/11/2014 08:48

Am planning on catching up with The Apprentice today (lots of cockwombles there) and can't help imagining Alan Sugar's bemusement on being presented with a OG merchandise business plan. I think he might roll with doll and ironing board cover but commissioned art work depicting CJ as a stag...?! And Nick Hewer's eyebrows would rocket skywards.

monopod · 12/11/2014 09:10

Morning everyone and happy birthday Ben!

This thread is getting more surreal by the minute. Not keen on facial hair either but stubble is a different story.

Right, stay focused, stay alert everybody! Gotta knuckle down and do some programming... Will check in later!

ihearttc · 12/11/2014 09:20

Just catching up on thread!

Yes yes yes to whoever said about the "head nod"-I love it when CJ does that. There is so much "said" in that small movement-I especially love the one that he does in the hospital.

Can't say I really noticed the stubble too much in the radio interview because I was too busy wondering what he had on underneath that jacket. I do love a bit of stubble though-he had stubble in Bath as well and that was definitely sexy.

cherin · 12/11/2014 09:22

Oh yes, I forgot! Happy birthday, Ben! Celebrate in style!
(Remember, maple syrup is quite sticky and if it gets in the facial hair may get difficult to remove it ;-)

ihearttc · 12/11/2014 09:40

Oh and Happy Birthday Ben from me as well :-)

Rhubarb01 · 12/11/2014 10:10

Just back from walking the dog and having a lot of time to ponder (far too much as the dog spends inordinate amounts of time with his nose in hedges and undergrowth leaving me standing there like a lemon). What would BA like for his birthday - possibly a big juicy leading role in a film or TV production? But what?

Supposing (tries not to cry uncontrollably) that OG does not return for a second series and the only way to see BA in a leading role is to write that specifically for him? This sounds like a job for the mumsnet collecctive - after all, successful american comedies have been doing this for years!

Knowing what fantastically vivid imaginations you all have (the CJ marketing range was a masterclass!) What would this next role be? Which genre? What would the character be like? How would he look and dress?

I pass it over to you ladies and gentleman!

icemist · 12/11/2014 10:22

Our Man In Afghan....
Follow his journey. That way we'd still get all the army gear, stares, headset, winks....

Nickel45 · 12/11/2014 10:38

Agreed icemist must definitely include army gear, head jerks, bare chest, etc. etc ....... must stop dreaming and get back to work .... (sigh)

PassTheSherry · 12/11/2014 10:45

Morning all!

Happy birthday Ben wherever you are, hope you're having a fab day!

Thank you icemist for so many lovely pics. Can you or someone who isn't as technobackwards as myself, tell me how one does screen grabs off an ipad?

Liking the Molly duet pics - so, so pretty. The hair, the eyes, the smile, the glowing skin. Stunning! It's amazing how different (and better) she looks compared to the Molly in the pilot - when she's all dolled up etc.

Rhubarb01 · 12/11/2014 10:48

OK retaining the army theme. Maybe ex-army officer becomes private detective with a penchant for wearing camouflage and combats. Has a motley band of associates (ex members of the under fives) that he drafts in to assist with investigations. Spends a lot of time in undergrowth, complete with headset putting targets under surveillance. When not working undercover, has brief, but nevertheless deep and meaningful conversations in dark and moody bars with attractive female client/partner accompanied by many looks ranging from stern to longing and occasionally a bit of lip biting and twitching - well, not too much type casting there!

orphan · 12/11/2014 10:54

I wouldn't mind seeing him in jodhpurs and long boots (preferably still with stubble) but I think the camo/combat gear is my fave. So what about an army officer who is discharged from the army due to injury (ok I realise this is sounding familiar..) and returns home to run his family's stud and stables (cue lots of shots of mounting and dismounting after sweaty, energetic rides). There could be some romance involved with a cheeky stable girl ... lots of banter and flirting whilst rubbing down the horses. Also lots of (possibly slow motion) shots of BA striding purposefully across the stable yard, flicking his riding crop against his thigh...

orphan · 12/11/2014 10:57

He still keeps his combat gear in a wardrobe and wears it sometimes whilst reminiscing about past tours.

Nickel45 · 12/11/2014 11:03

Oh boy, I am now getting some very strange looks from my colleagues sitting near me ... must remember to NOT check this while I am supposed to be working!

PTS to take a screen shot on the ipad just press the round button on the front (the one you turn it on and off with - no idea what it is called - not very technically minded!) and the proper on/off button on the top at the same time. That should work.

PassTheSherry · 12/11/2014 11:08

I was very confused by Molly's sleeping arrangements too. She starts off in the main (stags only) tent, then goes to the female quarters with Jackie etc. Then...the nap she has where she dreams of Bashira shouting "Pen! Pen!" and gets woken up by Smurf - where is that? And the Rosabaya scene does look like it's in the foyer of the med tent...but then she seems to end up back in the main tent with the stags by ep 4. Though they obviously change sleeping arrangements once they're back at Camp Bastion. I thought the reason Molly ends up in the main tent eventually is that by then Two Section have bonded with each other enough for her to be accepted as one of the lads and therefore like sharing with a load of brothers. I wonder if it's army protocol to separate stags and hens initially, then put them all in together once they've bonded like a family? Apologies for my ignorance!

icemist · 12/11/2014 11:10

He could be a one man a-team or a remake of MacGyver (I loved that!)
