Love it cherin...particularly with head gear!
I am getting very strange looks, must stop giggling!

Rhubarb01 · 11/11/2014 11:28

To be honest, although, I asked the question, I can't help feeling that the married/splitting up/divorced storyline didn't really serve much purpose in this series (although could be an issue or source of tension with ex-wife/son if there was a second series) apart from being the catalyst for the kissing scene at the compound prior to the Bridge/Smurf business. It was thrown in pretty late on and actually, needn't have been there at all. They could easily have had a little bust up about something else that needed making up!

Richtea19 · 11/11/2014 11:39

Cherin. You have talent! I am sure you are brilliant in your normal job, but wow for someone that still does stick men, that's great!

Now I have an idea. Your drawings could be encompassed into the OG Annual. Similar to "Oh Boy", "My Guy" and "Jackie" (sorry clearly showing my age!) we could have a picture story, little animated drawings with speech bubbles and text. So much scope. It would be like a pictorial FanFiction!

Richtea19 · 11/11/2014 12:01

I am sure that a solider on tour of any level would put massive amounts of pressure on a marriage. The distance in miles, amount of time away from each other and also the stress of the job. On both sides though (just as difficult to cope with children without a man about).

If I were Rebecca I would have never left!!!!! I wonder if she was ever jealous, as I am sure MD wasn't the first femail in the army he came in contact with? If I was married to such a handsome man (DH is handsome to me, beauty is afterall in the eye of the beholder!) but it must be hard knowing that women are falling at his feet!

cherin · 11/11/2014 12:04

At which point very gentle people will approach us to try on lovely white shirts with weird, long arms and funny straps at the end...
I'd better focus up. Second mtg of the day, this with real people. Stags, get out of my brain!!

PassTheSherry · 11/11/2014 12:09

Not sure he would have completely moved on before Molly actually. It seems to me that he/they may have been in a state of limbo for a while - still living in the same house trying in vain to rub along, until right up to his fourth tour, when Rebecca was sorting everything out, and the decree absolute arrived during the tour.

When Molly finds the document in a box along with his son's photos tucked away - I think the separation (from his son) was so raw and painful, he couldn't bear to look at them so had put the box out of the way. Which is why the pictures weren't displayed around his quarters.

It seems quite raw to me - the hospital interaction between CJ and Rebecca appears to hold a lot of sadness and hurt - not like something that had been over for a long time where they've had time to make adjustments. "Oh don't leave on my account" she says to Molly bitterly. Perhaps even though neither had been happy for a long time - there hadn't been a chance for closure until that point.

Also, it would have been easier for CJ to not think about how things were at home while on tour, and there is also a resonating theme with Molly too "On tour everything seemed possible. Being back home is like waking up". For both of them being on tour provides a form of sanctuary from issues at home.

I think if there is a second series there would be an opening for Rebecca/Sam to reappear in some way...we've seen bits of Molly's home life that hasn't detracted from story. As long as it doesn't become a domestic drama!

PassTheSherry · 11/11/2014 12:23

Am amazed you can just come up with a sketch like that whilst juggling conference calls and meetings cherin!

ihearttc · 11/11/2014 12:34

I think being the sort of man CJ is he would have stayed with Rebecca as long as possible for the sake of Sam.

icemist · 11/11/2014 12:46

I think Rebecca left him (mad woman) and he came on so she could do everything. Think though its where timeline is a bit skewith as letter is dated Sep 13 and they went to Afghan in Oct- so why would he say split up... Separated at that point he could easily have said divorced.

spo I wanted a nice photo that had them both in for you. Mine seem to be all CJ

Ooh Tony grounds has confirmed on Twitter Ben is in Canada! Well he said boss man!

OP posts:
PassTheSherry · 11/11/2014 12:55

Yes totally agree that Rebecca would've been the one to initiate divorce. CJ would have wanted to try and work it out.

PassTheSherry · 11/11/2014 12:58

Hah...we knew it! Wink

ihearttc · 11/11/2014 12:58

Yep I just saw that as well icemist...is it wrong that I feel jealous they are getting all the attention!!

Oh well they haven't sent him a birthday card lol!

icemist · 11/11/2014 12:58

I really like that TG called him Bossman though-he seems such a lovely genuine guy who is so pleased we all like OG.

icemist · 11/11/2014 13:10

Just tweeted TG this

ihearttc · 11/11/2014 13:17

Yay!! Will retweet it as well...Im slowly getting the hang of it now.

orphan · 11/11/2014 13:22

Just spent a lovely 15 mins in Boots smelling all the Hugo Boss scents, picturing CJ. Might have even murmured "Boss man" to myself a few times whilst sniffing the sticks.

Wow cherin love the CJ stag. Could you do one of the stag reclining in a padding pool?

cherin · 11/11/2014 13:30

orphan you are Sick! But if it's for the Supreme Call of Art, I can volunteer to do a real life portrait of BA/CJ in whichever pose you choose, paddling pool preferred.
As this is so much NOT going to happen, I urge you not to hold your breath.
(Do stags have six packs, you reckon? Do you think BA's were drawn up? Oh, blasphemous thought!!)

orphan · 11/11/2014 13:36

Or what about the stag getting his hooves looked at?

orphan · 11/11/2014 13:44

Oh cherin somewhere a fairy has died - can't believe you'd even voice the thought that his six pack isn't all his!

mandy214 · 11/11/2014 13:48

Love the drawing Cherin.

Richtea19 · 11/11/2014 13:52

Brilliant tweet Icemist. It's good to know where he is! Now NVM, how's your detective sister getting on???

cherin · 11/11/2014 14:03

I personally would not mind about 6packs. After all, as my mother wisely says when I first told her how handsome my (now)DH was...and good and considerate etc..."don't worry, they all change over time".
Easier to accept a change in body than in character ;-)

Agree that bossman and wife didn't have opportunity to really draw closure, I can imagine her anguish at the thought he could die in the middle of a divorce, of all times.
(A friend if mine went through similar situation with a boyfriend just left for another one...and no matter what your reasons were, you still feel guilty. And sorry. And terribly out of balance)

Sorry I am rumbling.
