Prob best to have at least 2 tape measures, for accuracy purposes of course.

Proper laughing tonight on here. spo I am in stitches!

If hubby spots my calendar he'll be carting me off himself.

Crikey, I'm not leaving this thread alone for two days ever again: real life will not be allowed to intervene. How long did it take to catch up?
Can't even offer any amusing stories or profound observations, so will just bid you goodnight and go off to bed to dream about CJ.

SPOfficer · 10/11/2014 23:17

Love the tape measure posts. My eyes are watering for a number of reasons.

cherin · 10/11/2014 23:21

issy make sure that when you do catch up you can do it in private. We don't want anyone to be dragged out of a bus/train because the hysterical fits are misunderstood for an health issue ;-)

icemist · 11/11/2014 06:51

Work today and out tonight. Will pop in when I can

Do love smiling, happy CJ

This thread is just getting too funny now, I love it, just what I need in my life at the moment :-)

I'm attending a meeting this morning. I'm not management, but allegedly, a 'lead' in the particular field we'll be discussing (although any whiff of what goes on here and they'd quickly whip that responsibility away from me). My mission is to try and get at least one CJ'ism in there somewhere. I'd love to use "Stay focused, stay alert, stay alive" (perhaps just saying the "stay alive" bit in my head whilst sporting ridiculous grin) or "I want you to be brilliant".

We'll see how it goes. I may not be able to keep a straight face so it might not happen.

stressybird · 11/11/2014 06:57

Ooh icemist look what you posted while I was typing. Lovely Grin

Crap, just looked at the time. Looking forward to catching up on todays antics on here tonight (aka as "bbc news and weather" to DH)

Lovely photos Icemist, super lighting effects on the cradling face picture. Perfect way to start a busy day. I want him to be the last face I see before I go out, similar wording.......

Nickel45 · 11/11/2014 07:54

Off to work with a smiley CJ in my mind, and thoughts of tape measures. Thank you guys, definitely makes the day better :)

(I need this in my life at the moment too!)

SPOfficer · 11/11/2014 08:00

Something for everyone in that last photo! Have a great day everyone. Catch you later.

Ilovelblue · 11/11/2014 08:04

stressybird if all else fails, you could call any slackers in your group c*ckwombles! I am dying to do that and had the opportunity last week but bottled it.

orphan · 11/11/2014 08:13

Morning everyone and love the photos icemist. (He is simply perfect isn't he? sigh )

stressybird my dp thinks I've developed an addiction to BBC news as well; it's tricky to hide that my giggles are in fact due to picturing us forming a guard of honour for BA , tape measures flicked out in unison.

cherin · 11/11/2014 09:36

monopod if I get fired for sketching stags with tape measures on, instead of focusing on a conference call, I blame you!!
(It's just impossible to represent a frightened deer!! At least, to my limited skills)

Morning - lovely photos icemist (also very envious of your CJ calendar!).

ilovelblue - am not entirely sure I did leave with my pride intact yesterday. The mum I had been talking to, showed no sign of having noticed I was fan girling like a teen, and we chatted for a couple of minutes like sensible adults (hard to imagine I know!) Even when my 7yo asked loudly "who is Ben Aldridge" I thought I'd managed to mumble something vaguely coherent (albeit an outright lie), about it being a group card for a "friend".

It was only when we were leaving that I realised I'd written "Fan Mail" on the corner of the envelope - which 7yo had left lying on the table face up the whole time I'd been chatting.

Excuse me for a while, I'll just be over there with my head buried in my hands and dying of general fuckmuppetry!

PassTheSherry · 11/11/2014 09:59

Ooh cherin I like the sketch - you have talent.

Rhubarb01 · 11/11/2014 10:08

cherin!........lovely!

cherin · 11/11/2014 10:11

(Luckily, I don't do art for a living. Quite the opposite!)

cherin · 11/11/2014 10:13

But I have been giggling like a real lunatic on and off all morning. Could not take the picture out if my head ;-)
(Geee, I should have added an hearing piece!!! Much more CJ if the stags has an hearing piece!!)

cherin · 11/11/2014 10:15

But a real OG fan never leaves home without a sharpie, therefore...

cherin · 11/11/2014 10:16

I sometimes like to play devil's advocate so I might gonna need to throw a little question in here, that I pondered whilst having nothing better to do at 7 am this morning!

Is it possible that CJ falls for Molly because he is a little emotionally vulnerable due to the break up of his marriage? We've never really considered that he might have still loved Rebecca and not wanted to split up. (Obviously, we didn't like the look of her much in the hospital, but appearances can be deceptive)

Although he says in hospital that Rebecca "left during my second tour" I couldn't help thinking that he didn't mean that she physically left but that things started to go wrong then. Evidence for this is that if they had split up some time ago and were living apart etc he wouldn't have needed to volunteer to go on a fourth tour so that she could sort everything out whilst he was away - they'd have done it already.

Rhubarb01 · 11/11/2014 10:23

ooh cherin now he's got the look. He almost appears to be winking as well!

monopod · 11/11/2014 10:57

This tent is for stags* only!

*with tape measures in their antlers and wearing headpieces

Wow cherin you have talent! I look forward to seeing more versions. You need to try and sketch CJ in non-animal mode too though.

Rhubarb I think he would have mentally and emotionally moved on some time before this tour. I think he fell for Molly because she impresses him, she's straightforward and doesn't have a jot of artifice, she understands the family and the lifestyle he loves - and she's beautiful. What's not to love Wink

PassTheSherry · 11/11/2014 11:07

I also think "she left during my second tour" wasn't meant literally. I think he was referring to the point when they started to grow apart. Maybe they wanted different things and neither could make it work without hurting the other (more).

He was just starting out on his army career and as an excellent soldier was destined for higher things. Perhaps she was either about to have their son, or he was still very young, and she wanted him to be around for them more. Perhaps she didn't physically leave, but started emotionally checking out of their marriage in the second tour as it became clear to her that he loved the army and didn't intend to resign his commission anytime soon.

I actually have a lot of sympathy for both of them just with that situation.
