Corrie thread - still no sign of Cilla or Fat Brenda but Kim Tate on the horizon

Here we are again - a brand new thread for more Corrie ramblings.

Can't believe Cilla still hadn't turned up by the end of the last thread.

Still hoping for an enormous cast-cull. Hoping for a bomb / gas explosion / serial killer / all of the previous.

Thinking about Carla and her marriages is there any woman in the street who has only been married once or only had one ltr? I was thinking Emily but wasn't she also married to Mr Swindley? I know they have to make life on the Street interesting but some others have left behind 3 or 4 marriages. And why do all the women change their surnames. Tracey's would have been her fifth change!

Love the random guests! Kev? Why?

WhoKnowsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 30/10/2014 08:56

Roy and Hayley are the only couple I can think of who were each other's one true love.

I wonder about the namechanges too, their lives must be an administrative nightmare.

WhoKnowsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 30/10/2014 09:11

JAck and Vera.

I suppose relationship endings are by far and away the easiest plot device for actors/characters leaving, so it's inevitable there are a lot of changes.

Jill2015 · 30/10/2014 09:17

Jack was a bit of a playboy though I can't remember if we ever saw evidence of him being unfaithful.
Hilda and Stan.
Aww, I loved both of those couples.

None of the current ones, I think. I'm always amazed at how quickly people start new relationships. I guess, in soap time, it has to be like that.

Pyjamaramadrama · 30/10/2014 09:23

I will miss Rob, but then Peter was a strong character too, and Carla and Tracey, so it would have been ashame for any of them to leave.

You do notice how unrealistic it is don't you? I suppose it would be boring otherwise, they take the extremes of life and compound it all into one street.

Having said that it's been particularly daft lately and more like an episode of Byker Grove than an adult soap.

Jill2015 · 30/10/2014 09:58

I have always had a soft spot for Peter, in all his travails, even when he was exposed as a bigamist, and so on. Will miss him, and Rob. I hope there is scope for either, or both of them, to return, some day.
I hope Carla stays around. I agree re the wine consumption Grin. Plus she was the one who was completely bladdered at the wedding. I think she has been superb, particularly in this story. Some of the scenes with her and Ken, particularly when he first returned, were very good.

ajandjjmum · 30/10/2014 10:21

I loved it when she stroked Ken's cheek yesterday - it was lovely to see him get a bit of affection from someone!

squoosh · 30/10/2014 10:48

I loved the acoustic version of Waterfall by the Stone Roses that was playing at the wedding last night. Someone on Corrie keeps sneaking good songs in. I remember Peter listening to Tom Waits one night.

eddiemairswife · 30/10/2014 11:20

I was slightly repulsed by Gail borrowing Ken's kimono. She said she would wash it after she had worn it, but surely she would also need to wash it before. For all she knows he could have been wearing it for weeks with nothing on underneath and there could be all sorts of unmentionable stains on it.

sunflower49 · 30/10/2014 11:24

I love Carla!Brilliant acting.
I agree about the kimono, eddie. I thought 'Eeew he's been wiping his knob on that' (less decorum inside my brain than you) Grin

squoosh · 30/10/2014 11:24

I know, Little Ken would have rubbing along the inside of the kimono whilst Big Ken was listening to Radio 4 and making his vegan toast.

I thought it was funny.

MrsGhoulofGhostbourne · 30/10/2014 12:00

Ooh yes I thought the same about the kimono! Yuck - but maybe she was being subtle and was going to pop into the washing machine first.
(Whoknowswhere - love your seasonal name changes! Not a stalker Blush!! Just remember the 'hermajesty' one for the jubilee and others Grin)

Camolips · 30/10/2014 12:07

I think that was another bit where she was going to ask Deirdre but they had to change it. Agree bleurgh Ken! It obviously plays a significant part otherwise they would have cut it out so am intrigued now on what's going to happen.

sunflower49 · 30/10/2014 12:13

They'll find a stain on it, Michael will get paranoid that It's Gail's and she's been sleeping about, and he'll have a heart attack as a result Grin

BreconBeBuggered · 30/10/2014 13:05

Whatever the kimono incident proves to be, I hope it doesn't involve poo crumbs.

eddiemairswife · 30/10/2014 13:18

I didn't like to mention poo crumbs, as I didn't want to upset sensitive contributors!

Camolips · 30/10/2014 14:09

Why didn't they just insert .....'Of course you can borrow it Gail. And you're in luck, it was freshly laundered yesterday'. Then we wouldn't all be feeling yukky.

Jill2015 · 30/10/2014 21:13

Can't stop laughing. I thought the borrowing of the kimono was bizarre, but kinda funny. Now it's really making me laugh, after reading these posts.

desperatehousewife21 · 31/10/2014 07:44

Where has Deirdre gone irl then??

Is Peter leaving!? I didn't know that I wanted him and Carla to get back together.

I read a spoiler this morning it may help our need of a character cull Wink

ProfYaffle · 31/10/2014 07:50

Re LTR, Kev and Sally used to fulfil that role. It was a big shock when they split up.

Camolips · 31/10/2014 07:50

I read that as well! 'Fighting for their lives....' Hopefully we can influence them into making the right choices on who makes it and who doesn't Grin

Jill2015 · 31/10/2014 08:21

Where where, please tell me where the spoiler is Grin. Two good characters going anyway, as we know, Peter and Rob.
Any chance that the butcher shop aka community centre falls down, mysteriously, trapping YASMEEN and family, plus Gary, Todd, Michelle, Kylie,Fizz...in the rubble, never to be seen again.

WhoKnowsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 31/10/2014 08:45

Thank you MrsGhoul - namechange potential was one of the reasons I picked this name, my previous one was very limited. I have got a full seasonal set of them but haven't thought of any new ones for a while. Haven't got a bonfire night one

Yes to community centre collapsing - why couldn't that have been what Todd bodged instead of Fizz's house? That all seems to have been conveniently forgotten.

MrsGhoulofGhostbourne · 31/10/2014 09:06

Confused by LTR which have seen a lot recently - is that a reworked version of LTB (?with a Rat instead?), or a completely different acronym...?

Jill2015 · 31/10/2014 09:25

Long Term Relationship.
