in the coaches box...Grin

So Federer V Djokovic, 2014.

Gutted it isn't Nadal, or Grigor. Glad it isn't Murray, we might get more balanced commentary. Grin

I think Federer may have it- and will be able to play a better game than against the big serving Raonic.

But Djok is hurting from the number of GS losses
He has only played Fed on grass once. At Wimbledon. He lost.
If the roof goes on, Fed is better indoors too.

I want a 5 set thriller, because I don't care who wins really. I am refusing to move form the sofa. My children will go to school Monday wearing pyjamas, and with a bag of crisps for lunch.

I am sticking with Virgin Pimms (a.k.a Peppermint tea)BrewWine

At least you're keeping the thread bumped. We might get a bit more company as the US Open gets closer.

Wonder how Rafa's wrist is doing?

Raahh · 08/08/2014 23:18

I keep seeing pictures of him practicing , on FB. Hopefully that is a good sign!

Doubt he'll play next week- but I hope he defends the US.

Oh poor Kevin Anderson Shock. What on earth happened there?

Raahh · 09/08/2014 21:26

Ok, so after 18 months of being pretty rubbish, Tsonga seems to have found his form.

C'mon Grigor though I do like Jo-Willy

Glad to see Grigor got through yesterday. I am being prevented from watching this evening by DH, who is glued to the Women's Rugby World Cup. I am also watching with grudging respect. Those women are tougher than most male footballers. Actually, it's now f/t, so he'll let me watch the tennis.

DramaAlpaca · 09/08/2014 21:31

Oh! Just seen the score. C'mon Grigor! Tennis

I don't think Deliciano will have much of a chance against Fed later Sad

Raahh · 09/08/2014 21:33

well, i can't watch, but I'm merrily refreshing the scores.

I felt sorry for Ferrer last night. He now has a 0-15 hth with Federer. That's got to feel rubbish.

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/08/2014 21:34

No, Deliciano may struggle. Unless Rog overdid the birthday cake, but somehow I doubt he didGrin.

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 09/08/2014 21:44

Poor Ferrer. I think he's the best player on the circuit right now who has never won a major.

I suspect Rog will have ordered that the birthday cake be delayed until after the tournament Grin

Jo-Willy seems to be on good form. He could put up a good fight against Rog.

Rafanderpants · 10/08/2014 17:10

think Serena LET Venus win?

there was always that theory when they were in GS finals so theyd even it out between them?

Venus hasn't been doing THAT well, and Serenas more fussed about GSs anyway.

Drama agree, Ferrer deservs a GS. Tennis

Raahh · 10/08/2014 21:00

ooh, allez Jo-Willy!

OP posts:
Raahh · 10/08/2014 22:01

And Jo-Willy wins Grin

DramaAlpaca · 10/08/2014 22:19

Great stuff. Very happy for Jo-Willy Smile. I thought it might be a close one.

Didn't see the result of the women's, but what you say does not surprise me. At all. Williams v Williams is rarely a good match. You always feel the result has been decided in advance.

So, Cincy next?

DramaAlpaca · 10/08/2014 23:57

Ah, didn't realise the Williams clash was a semi. I'm not too up on women's tennis, tbh. Radwanska, who I like, beat Venus fairly easily in the final, I see.

Raahh · 12/08/2014 20:08

Looks like Tsonga has worn himself out after last week and is about to lose to Youzhny.

HOw come Annabel Croft never ages? Envy.
and Miles Mcglockenspiel has one of the most annoying voices!

DramaAlpaca · 13/08/2014 21:49

Oh, I love Miles's accent! He's from Zimbabwe, I think.

Rafanderpants · 14/08/2014 17:43

oh its not the accent just his tone and lilt and stuff.

if he was a song hed be that annoying note that grates you!

Raahh · 14/08/2014 22:35

Phew! I have been refreshing like a demon tonight- and am quite relieved that Raonic won through. I don't know huge amounts about Steve Johnson, except that he is American, and has mainly played the Futures circuit. But his name is not as memorable as JACK SOCK is it? it doesn't say champion to me.

Sorry, Steve.

Grin

Djok has been knocked out of Cincy Shock

Raahh · 14/08/2014 22:42

Blimey- I do think there may be something wring with Djok- his loss last week was a bad one (even if Jo-Willy was having a good week), and now this.Maybe marriage and impending fatherhood is distractinghim?

Bodes well, when Rafa returns for the US though Grin

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 14/08/2014 22:48

Yes, I suspect real life is distracting Djok. He has a lot going on. When is the baby due, I wonder?

Raahh · 15/08/2014 17:12

The Stan/Benny match has started strangely- 1 set each, both sets 6-1.

I thought I saw Leander Paes this morning in London!

But then thought he must be in America for the tennis there.

Didn't want to embarrass myself by going up to him and asking if it was him!

spitting image though.
