they did seem to be completely different people totally uncompatible

expatinscotland · 01/09/2006 10:22

She was from Edinburgh and went back there b/c her parents were there.

If I had an MIL like that, I'd have burned rubber to get away from her, too.

God yes.. when that MiL said in the back of the taxi.. 'it'll take me a week to knock them back into shape'. WTF 'knock' what kinda word is that to use?? Suprised SS weren't onto the MiL, never mind the mum.

expatinscotland · 01/09/2006 10:26

the MIL was a prize heifer.

expatinscotland · 01/09/2006 10:28

His brother was no better. Meddling, interfering, controlling and manipulative.

Your basic nightmare.

I've already warned my girls in my journal to run fast and far from ANY Mama's boy.

Combination of things. Fell out of love, MIL, affair, etc.

Should never have been married in the first place, probably.

expatinscotland · 01/09/2006 10:33

I had a boyfriend w/a mother like his. He asked me to marry him. I said no. Thank f*ck.

all the talk about how the mother never did anything with them apart from stick them in front of the tv and fed them on takeaways.and then he takes them to macdonalds!
and the husband was lying about her-when he went to pick the kids up with his mum and he said she'd been stinking of drink and slurring her words-well i don't know about the smell but her speech was fine.
he was just vile.weak and manipulative.

expatinscotland · 01/09/2006 10:36

If my DH spied on me, ratted me to Social Services and left my kids to freeze in Scottish winter out of spite for me, I'd be pretty upset, too.

I think his family thought they were a cut above her they were typical social climber types.Class wise and intellectually she was better than him imo but had had an unfortunate and sad start in life and had difficulty making decent choices. The kids were lovely with guidance she could be a good mum whereas he was an arse

'Hmmm, yes, but she started it! '

Yeah, that's such a mature, adult take on it all. You wouldn't be related to Stephen at all, would you?

expatinscotland · 01/09/2006 10:51

He was also pretty stupid. Abducting your kids on camera. There's a real brainiac moment!

Piffle · 01/09/2006 10:52

spineless prick was my opinion form about 10 minutes of watching
You call SOCIAL SERVICES on your ex wife and expect her to be happy about it.
Lower than low.
The arrogance of presuming that his cutting off the support money would curb her partying to excess FFS
Knobular in the extreme

Yeah, but dino, would you leave your kids to the mercy of the taxpayers expense in order to get back your spouse, spy on him, rat on him to Social Services and abduct them illegally?

And that's what they should have done. Seen a lawyer and a counsellor.

The courts decided the children were to go w/her and be w/him at all term holidays after he abducted them willfully.

It's not like she took them to Pakistan for an underage marriage.
