Is it just me or is anyone else struggling to hear what they are saying? I feel like I'm listening through cotton wool ear plugs.

I just thought I couldn't hear because I was doing the ironing! Disappointed, love DDM books and it was partly filmed near me

Couldn't hear a bloody thing! Most annoying. Haven't read the book so am really struggling to know what it's all about and simply not good enough to tempt me back tonight.

Gave up 10 minutes in.

The one thing I did like is how muddy and dirty they were. Not like in The White Queen where everyone was pristine all the time.

Awful - all the cast are wrong. The uncle is nowhere near menacing enough. Mind you he might have got worse as the programme went on, because I gave up after 15 mins. It's a great story - why faff around with it and make it crap? At least I won't have to waste any time on the rest of this rubbish

I thought the Uncle was as scary as hell Blush.

Why did they not film it in Cornwall?

I didn't thonk it was possible to make daphne du maurier dull - but they managed

yy to the mumbling

I was really determined to give this a go as I usually steer clear of costume/period stuff - I tried, I really did......but after 20 minutes of trying to decipher what they were saying I had to give up. As a cure for insomnia it's perfect though!

Yy about the volume. So bloody annoying.

The accents are weird, but sound like they're slipping into Irish accents. Could just be me then??

Ah, won't bother with iplayer then :(

DH was laughing at me and DM complaining about the mumbling, I am so relieved it wasn't just us who could barely understand it. Won't be watching the other two episodes.

Blimey, even Boycie's pissed off! I feel so sorry for the actors, their sterling work has been turned into a laughing stock.

I remember after the complaints with the first epsiode of Ripper Street they were able to do something to enhance the sound. Maybe they can do something before broadcast tonight.

Yes, I'm normally one for low TV volume but I found myself turning the volume up and up and I couldn't see it particularly well - the internal inn scenes were very dingy indeed.....

This is one of Daphne du Maurier's only seminal works that I didn't read as a teenager - thought I should give it a shot even though smuggling/shipwrecking isn't really my thing......not totally convinced......

I wonder if they'll fix the soundtrack on last nights episode on iPlayer. I only have the vaguest idea of what was going on having not read the book.

I was really looking forward to it but it was very disappointing
Like others have said the sound was awful.i usually have my sound on around volume 6 needed it at about 26
Just couldn't get into it.have set it to record the other 2 episodes but might not bother watching them
It was the same with shetland.really enjoyed the last series but this one i gave up on after the 1st episode.it was all mumbled and everything was so dark.

What the hell is wrong with you all??! I heard it just fine -although I have the subtitles on as a matter of course as I'm deaf in one ear - and thought it was really good. Just the thing for a Monday evening - a cup of tea and a biscuit, and my favourite spot on the sofa. Bliss Smile
