Just watching it now with DH, kids gone to bed stuffed with chocolate. Anyone else enjoying this as much as I am?

Really liked it as did DH but don't know the film at all so not googling as don't want spoilers Grin

I loved it but couldn't watch him kill his wife, DH normally likes stuff like this but he wasn't keen.
MF accent annoyed me at first but then I thought it added to his quirks and awkwardness.

I really enjoyed it! The only problem is waiting until next week for the next part.

I don't do waiting! Grin

Deputy police officer is the fabulous Bob Odenkirk (Saul Goodman) from Breaking Bad. I hope we get to see more of him. On which note, I can't wait for the new BB spin off/prequel "Better Call Saul".

Great to hear that so many fellow MNers also liked Fargo. I'm going to treat myself to 90 mins in front of the computer screen later so I can watch it all over again. Just to get all the nuances.

We really enjoyed it: were transported. We laughed, recoiled, sympathised.

At one point DP said he wasn't sure about Martin Freeman, and I pointed out "he does put-upon well" (Arthur Dent, for instance).

The writing is stonkingly good, IMHO. I don't remember what, but DH and I were watching something else recently and although it was OK, we were just meh about it. Couldn't figure out why but then realised, shows like Sherlock have raised the bar so high, we're just not content with mediocre writing.

Loved it!

And I thought Martin Freeman did a rather good Minnes000da accent. 'Tho I'm an Ohioan and not qualified to comment (perhaps CheerfulYank is around to weigh in...)

Loved it! There were some changes from film to tv but `i still loved it. I thought it was great how Martin became similar to William H Macy's character (in the original). The accents - I think in that area there are a number of scandinavians -Norwegian/Swedish or something. This is a guess but the names seem so. Billy Bob is suitably dark and creepy!!

The only little thing is in the original the police woman is a more established character,in this one she is up and coming but hey ho.

Loved it but why was it shorter than last week??? Or was that my imagination?

I've given it two episodes and I'm not enjoying it. Try as it might (and it is trying very hard) it can't match the film. Martin Freeman is exactly the same whatever he does. Being able to do a reasonable accent doesn't make you an interesting actor. and Billy Bob Thornton is too attractive and charismatic ,overbalancing the whole thing.

Anybody know the poem with music played during the end scene at the lake? It reminded me of some work Kurt Cobain did with William S Burroughs but I'm not sure.

Mandy, it is Full Moon by Eden Ahbez. Spooky in this context.

Another good episode. It definitely has a Coen brothers flavour to it. A friend likes their films, and I am beginning to appeciate their work. Every detail matters.

Thanks so much yegodsandlittlefishes - don't know why my TV made his voice sound like Burroughs Grin

I'm quite enjoying it. It's quirky. Didn't like the lake scene thoughHmm

The writing is mostly good, but it seems extraordinarily sexist to me. The female characters are generally set up for ridicule, and the female lead only seems to be (just) let off the hook because she isn't sexual (yet). Breaking Bad had the same problems. Ruins my enjoyment.
