Just watching it now with DH, kids gone to bed stuffed with chocolate. Anyone else enjoying this as much as I am?

I thought it was really good. One minute dh and I were laughing out loud (the bit with B-B T phoning the son of the murdered man in particular) and the next it was incredibly graphic.

I can't watch anything starring Martin Freeman.

Well see Fargo is one of my all time favourite films and when I saw that there was going to be a series on TV called Fargo I thought, heck, surely it cant be anywhere near as good as the film but then I watched it tonight and see, I thought it was amazing. Heck, I was even disappointed when the hour and a half ended and I cant wait to see the next episode!

P.S I rather like the accent!

MF's accent jarred at first but I really quickly forgot it was MF and just accepted the character. Really, really enjoyed it, it's filling the post Breaking Bad void in this house.

I thought it was great.
MF's accent was very well done. He's good at accents.

It was just the right mix of darkness and humour for me. I loved the film too.

I'm a massive Sherlock geek... only watched it because of Martin Freeman and had never heard of Fargo before
now.

Martin Freeman being American took a little getting used to to begin with, then i hated it when Sam was being awful to him.... when he flipped i was truly shocked... having not known the back story at all i really wasn't expecting it.... i thought maybe BillyBob Thornton was going to keep popping up and killing people for him and he'd get dragged in/accused.

Will definitely watch next week, thouroughly enjoyed it and i agree about Female Police Officer, she's really good. Pleasantly surprised since i usually hate american crime shows.

It said at the beginning that everything had been portrayed accurately out of respect for the dead... surely they couldn't say that if it wasn't true?

Don't want to google too much and end up with spoilers.

I loved the film, and this is (so far) a brilliant reworking. MF and BBT are both playing blinders. Even though the film is a firm faviurite in this house, the tweaks are just enough for the series to not be a boring repeat.

The hammer scene was still shocking though, the look on his wife's face was brilliant. Silly woman, provoking him like that!

Yyy, I almost switched it off when I heard American coming out of Martin Freemans mouth. I felt embarrassed for him. But ten minutes in, I was over myself and drawn completely into the story.

It did feel a bit Breaking Bad, because the guy was so clearly headed for a major character change.

Top marks to DP who spotted Tom Hanks' looky likey son playing the deputy.

Loved it. Never had such laugh out loud moments watching a show for years. I think Billy Bob is amazing and handsome in a strange way. I never had a problem with the accents not like i did with True Detective. I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds.

Just watched this (I record so I can skip the ads), really enjoyed it, love a black comedy. Made me laugh out loud when the policewoman jumped on the brother beating his younger brother. Very creepy with the policeman in the car who had been talking to his daughter, then the conversation with BBT, dragons, etc. Can't wait until next week.

I didn't know that actor was Tom Hanks' son Morris, I recognized him as one of the serial killers in Dexter, he was good in that.

I also really enjoyed Fargo, one of those series where you know no character is safe from being bumped off which makes it all a bit less predictable.

It always feels a bit wrong when you can't help but sympathise with a man who's just smashed his wife's head in with a hammer. I kind of want him to get away with it even though I know he can't really!

Testament to good writing and acting that we all want him to get away with bloody murder because she nagged him.

Hitchcock was the master of this, manipulating the viewers moral compass and giving us the view from the other side.

Breaking Bad of course forced us to confront our own sense of right and wrong. If Fargo keeps this up it will be a rollercoaster ride.

Another one who loved this, am meh about MF but loved BBT in it. And the young female cop. Fantastic tv.

Loved it too. Not sure about Martin Freeman yet although I do feel sorry for him because that character was played in the film by William H Macy who is a fabulous actor, so poor Martin has his work cut out.

Billy Bob Thornton was fantastic and his character is really thrilling - his cold calm but deadly warning to the cop reminded me of Anton Chigurgh in No Country for Old Men. Loved his shit stirring at the motel Grin

Another one here who loved the film and was pleasantly surprised at that epiosde. Not so sure about Martin Freeman.
I kept getting distracted at BBT as he looked like Robin Gibb from the Bee Gees.

Liking it so far, I saw the film aeons ago & can barely remember the ins & outs of it so it's a bit like coming to it fresh though the policewoman from the film sticks in my mind more than I think the tv policewoman is going to although she's good

I agree that William H Macy is a fantastic actor, hard act to follow. I keep thinking why can't I remember the film that well but then realised it was 18 years ago! That makes me feel so old.
