Just watching it now with DH, kids gone to bed stuffed with chocolate. Anyone else enjoying this as much as I am?

What Malvo had taunted him with when he was posing as the vicar. Something about seeing more shades if green than any other colour. It was one of the first conversations he and Molly had (she'd answered it, being a huntin' gal).

The gloves: I dunno, pretty much what she said (& a valid point - it'd be a very nice gesture to let somebody in need benefit from one's loss). But why she was saying that to Nygaard, dunno.

Fab ending I loved it. Lester needed to get his comeuppance. Nasty little man.
And how pregnant was the female officer??? Her bump was huge. (Rubbish with names)

Loved the final episode!

Often with brilliant series the ending is disappointing but not so,with Fargo.

So glad they both met a grisly end. And so pleased the lovely Gus was the one to finish off Malvo.

Really wanted to see Molly's baby though Smile

yes i was shouting at the TV when Gus killed Malvo, thinking, he will be arrested!
but I guess he didnt,
and I bet Lester escapes.

They deleted a line of the glove story.

"It's not a story about a man who loses a glove. It's a story about a man who gives his gloves away."

So the glove guy turns it around so he's in control. He chooses to give them away rather than lose them. I guess she's telling Lester that it's not too late to do the right thing. To choose to give himself up rather than have it taken from him.

In this country (UK) Gus would have been arrested for murder. In USA he gets a citation for bravery.

Great series though, and good ending. Would also have liked to see the baby.

Roll on series 2.

coumarin thank you so much for explaining that!

It was a very touching moment but I wasn't sure why Grin

I think Gus would have got away with it even in the UK because Lorne would have had a huge gun very close to his hand Gus could quite reasonably have said he fired in self-defence. In the US, my impression is that nobody would have thought twice about shooting somebody like Lorne Malvo!

I loved Fargo on TV. Billy Bob Thornton was mesmerising and I thought Martin Freeman was pretty good too. Allison Tolman was great. Must watch the film again!

I thought the glove story may have been a metaphor for the wives, the first one was in the heat of the moment (running for the train) and the second one was sacrificed willingly. But I'd had wine Grin

One quick question, the car salesman who was in the dummy car to lure the FBI guys out, what happened to him? We saw Malvo go up to the window with his gun, and the salesman taped to the wheel was pleading with him (I think he said he had a little girl) but we didn't see Malvo finish him off.

After Lester shot Malvo in the leg, and he got away in the one car (the FBI car?) the other one was gone. I can't imagine Malvo let him go, so what happened to the second car?

Report
Bigsooze · 24/06/2014 11:53

Yes, I wondered about the continuity with the cars - the FBI's car was blocked in by his. But he managed to drive away in the FBI car... With his bad leg he can't have moved one to drive the other away. And he didnt have the keys...

Or maybe he let the salesman go and he drove it away... ooo, like that, a happy ending for the sales guy...

I hadn't spotted this about the car salesman. Clever.
I also hadn't realised we didn't see his fate and the car does disappear doesn't it? Seems very unlikely he'd spare him but where else did the car go? I'd like to think he just drive home too.

Didn't know that the FBI agents are a well known comedy duo in America. Explains why they were so funny.

talking aobut cars, didnt we see malvo take a passport from a car, i thought he took lester's car with passport? but next he had the red car

Malvo took the FBI manual/ whatever from the FBI car at the police station, but he left the car. He used it to get the FBI sending back up.

That Metro story is great!

I want to know the back story of the other time Lou was guarding the porch all night.

Does anyone know what happened to the Greek supermarket tycoon? That storyline just seemed to end without ever finding out what happened to him.

Report
mummytime · 24/06/2014 17:26

YEs its one of those unanswered questions. Although I thought the Supermarket did occur after the jump forward. It would be so interesting to investigate those other tapes (I'd volunteer for that FBI job).

Report
mileysorearse · 24/06/2014 17:59

I think the supermarket guy was to tie the series into the original movie, as he took the money in the flashback, and to show that Malvo was a predator (the shades of green thing) rather than just a hitman. Once the guy's henchman tried to frighten him off he decided to play with his head. It was a stand-alone illustration of how terrible Malvo could be.

Re: the car salesman... We saw Malvo dragging a corpse behind the woodpile outside Lester's house (bloody drag marks in the snow, feet sticking out from behind the woodpile, one shoe one sock). I assumed that was the car salesman?

misslaughalot · 24/06/2014 20:44

MrsCakes I thought that was one of the FBI agents

I'm not sure. I watched it twice and am still not sure. Nor why he bothered to hide the body regardless who it was.

Report
PedantMarina · 28/06/2014 16:29

Yeah, good point MrsCake. Seeing dead bodies scattered about would surely gave out the shit up Lester, and wasted precious time, to boot.

Anyway, what's the point of dragging a still-bleeding corpse around on the snow. Not Malvo's brain's finest hour...

Report
MrsCakesPremonition · 28/06/2014 17:28

I think that's why I thought it was the salesman (possibly wrongly). Because he had to get the body out of the driving set of the car, and possibly the body would have been visible from the road (as the FBI car was parked close to the house). But the bloody snow is weird.
