I know all you addicts are out there! I am not the only one.

OP posts:

Oh yes, those fences. They always have open plan inside and small gardens. You would think with all that glorious weather and outdoor lifestyle the houses would have good outdoor space.

NicknameIncomplete · 30/01/2014 09:42

I thought they had small gardens because most people spend time at the parks and beaches. Could be wrong though.

weekendninja · 30/01/2014 09:46

I guess so. Maybe I just expect too much!! Could you imagine the rental over here for £155 pcm? That would get you a palace around here.

Chigley1 · 30/01/2014 09:47

You're less stressed because you're on holiday!!

Vagndidit · 30/01/2014 09:50

£100k? I'm moving to N.I.

FatimaLovesBread · 30/01/2014 09:52

They like their feature walks and built in wardrobes

Oooh 15-30k under what she thought

weekendninja · 30/01/2014 09:52

That's a huge increase in salary.

Sparklingbrook · 30/01/2014 09:53

poor ILs. Sad

princessalbert · 30/01/2014 09:53

Oof, I still can't help but get annoyed when they compare the grocery shopping bills.

Surely if you move to somewhere else, then you could adjust your food choices according to what's available? I know they just do that as an example, but why would it be such a big deal?

Sparklingbrook · 30/01/2014 09:54

There's a half sister. Sad

FatimaLovesBread · 30/01/2014 09:54

Eh but in the uk she's part time, in Oz for the £50k she'd be full time. So not comparable. I thought she wanted more family time

Chigley1 · 30/01/2014 09:56

Poor half sister Sad

Sparklingbrook · 30/01/2014 09:56

Ah well, they've had a nice holiday.

CosyTeaBags · 30/01/2014 09:56

Another tear jerker,

I'm just catching up.. but wanted to say.. when they had the 'family day out', she said "This is how I want it to be, I'm usually rushing around every day, but here we can just spend time together"... errr YOURE ON HOLIDAY!! Thats what it's like on holiday.

You move there, you work full time, and guess what - you have exactly the same amount of free time as you do at home.

Aaaargh!!

FatimaLovesBread · 30/01/2014 09:57

Ahhh poor half-sister :-( she's lost her dad and then she'll lose her sisters and brother

Chigley1 · 30/01/2014 09:58

I think mum is being a bit selfish here.

CosyTeaBags · 30/01/2014 09:58

Oh she's planning on going from part-time to full time. So even more rushing around and less opportunity to spend time together then Hmm

Don't base your life choices on what it feels like when you're on holiday!

BlueberryWoods · 30/01/2014 09:58

They don't seem to mention benefits in the Reality Checks. If the mum only has a salary of £11k then she'll also be getting tax credits (or whatever). Is that taken into account? They also seem to be comparing a part-time UK salary to a full time Oz salary.

Sparklingbrook · 30/01/2014 09:59

Oh no. Update is really sad. Sad

CosyTeaBags · 30/01/2014 09:59

It also irked me when they were comparing shopping lists, and she was going "that's outrageous" that ham costs so much more over there... but you're looking at a >£30k increase in salary! That's how it works love, countries that pay high salaries have higher cost of living, it all evens out!

Chigley1 · 30/01/2014 09:59

Oh no, what?

Sparklingbrook · 30/01/2014 10:00

On their return from Perth, the Savage family were keen to make the move down under, but Helene was diagnosed with an illness. Helene fears her condition may get worse without the support of her wider family in the UK, and worries she would be putting pressure on her children to care for her in Australia. The family have decided to stay in Northern Ireland. Nicole, Tiernan and Erin were disappointed with the decision, but realise it is a dream they can realise when they progress to adulthood.

princessalbert · 30/01/2014 10:00

Yes, that confused me too. She said she earned £11K or whatever - and the Oz salary would be £50K - but yes, full time. Child care to find and pay for ? Less time with the children. shiftwork?

I don't think they will go, when they have really thought more deeply about it.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 30/01/2014 10:01

An update:-

Oh that's sad. Thank god it didn't happen after they'd moved though, then all the responsibility really would be on the eldest daughter's head.
