Sad

Oh, missed your post Sparklingbrook.

weekendninja · 30/01/2014 10:02

Oh no. Poor family.

ExcuseTypos · 30/01/2014 10:02

Ah that's a shame- I think as they all wanted to go, it would have been a good thing for them.

bisjo · 30/01/2014 10:02

If you read their interview in the Belfast Telegraph - link on the BBC page they never had any intention of going and used the trip as a free 3 week holiday. Good to know my licence fee is being put to good use Hmm

princessalbert · 30/01/2014 10:07
Hmm

I wonder if the kids were in on her thoughts on it too?

Not fair.

CosyTeaBags · 30/01/2014 10:14

Blimey. So they're there for 3 weeks? I assumed they went for a week.

I think the show could be so much better if they were honest about them being there for 3 weeks, because you could believe that they'd really got into the lifestyle. Also, perhaps they should arrange a 2 week work placement for them, so that they (and we) get to see what 'normal' life would be like, and there would be less of this bullshit "Oh it's so nice to spend so much time with the kids when I'm not working, on an extended holiday )

As for them using it as a free holiday at licence payer's expense. Yup. Doesn't surprise me at all. Anyone who was really serious about moving to Oz would have done their research before going. And not look at houses £100k over their budget.

FatimaLovesBread · 30/01/2014 10:14

I've found her on FB, she says she still wants to go but no one wants to go with her

temporarilyjerry · 30/01/2014 10:17

I hate this part, where they look at houses that they can't afford and then vote on whether they prefer them to the house they can afford in UK. There are plenty of lovely houses in UK that they can't afford.

ssd · 30/01/2014 10:20

bloody hell! I knew they were in it just for a cheap holiday, why dont the producers suss that out if I can get it from watching from the couch for 2 minutes? Hmm

where do you get the updates sb? I waited till the end but never seen anything?

CosyTeaBags · 30/01/2014 10:25

The updates are online on the bbc website. But I'm lazy and I just wait for someone to post it here Grin

SelfRighteousPrissyPants · 30/01/2014 10:32

It doesn't say she only went for a holiday!

*We were there for three weeks. I'd love to go back on a holiday, but I don't know if it would be to live. I'd be afraid of it not working out, and having nothing.

But doing the programme was the opportunity of a lifetime, to go and see what it would be like, all expenses paid."*

Sounds like she'd thought of going but thought better of it after the programme.

ExcuseTypos · 30/01/2014 10:48

I agree with you Self, I think they genuinely wanted to see if they could love there. They were such a lovely family, I hope things work out for them.

ExcuseTypos · 30/01/2014 10:48

Live

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 30/01/2014 11:02

Can I just say - about the horrible metal fences - my brother who lived in Canberra said they had to be metal to slow the fires down.

And his sister said they only have a relatively small garden because it gets too hot to go outside - she's in NSW and it's been 44C there recently.

difficultpickle · 30/01/2014 14:23

I got the impression from the BT interview she wanted to visit to see where her late partner had thought of going rather than because she really thought about moving there. It seemed more about filling a gap in her understanding of her partner.

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 09:15

Morning all. I have a bajillion things I should be doing but I am going to watch today as it's the last one.

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 09:17

These two look full of the joys. Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 09:18

Oh FGS she has backed out once already.

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 09:19

Oh no. He got his dream job in NZ 3 years ago and she pulled out. Shock

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 09:21

'Judy fears Chris has never forgiven her'. Mmmmm. 18 months planning.

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 09:22

This is all a bit depressing.

thatsnotmypineapple · 31/01/2014 09:23

Not sure her reason for wanting to try again is strong enough

AnneEyhtMeyer · 31/01/2014 09:23

She needs a kick up the arse.

"When we are in a strange place we all pull together as a family" - Yes, but it would only be a strange place for a couple of months.

thatsnotmypineapple · 31/01/2014 09:24

Once they have settled in they will all be off "doing their own thing" again
