I know all you addicts are out there! I am not the only one.

Their update:-

Emma and Andrew are still living in Brighton, but thoughts of a move to New Zealand are never far from their minds. The couple are still struggling to decide where their future lies, but are planning a trip down under in 2014, hoping it will help them make a decision once and for all

Martha75 · 29/01/2014 09:59

Oh no! He's still using the kids to make his point, but Albert won't be bought.

Sparklingbrook · 29/01/2014 10:00

I am cross now. Angry

DS2 said it was a weird programme.

CosyTeaBags · 29/01/2014 10:00

"The thought of breaking the bond with the grandparents was too much for Emma"..

err that, and the £10k salary drop, and the fact that her DH gets to swan around doing a teenager's job while she works her arse off full time...!

Vagndidit · 29/01/2014 10:00

I hope Albert tells his father how much he hates wet suits.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 29/01/2014 10:00

They live on the south coast, there is SO much they can do here. If he really is passionate about board sports he lives in one of the best places in the country. Get a 5mm steamer and get out there, don't drag your family to the other dude of the world you can't surf for toffee anyhow, your wife's better

Sparklingbrook · 29/01/2014 10:01

All very unsatisfactory.

Horsemad · 29/01/2014 10:01

Stand your ground Emma!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 29/01/2014 10:01

I'd like to know how he arrived at the idea of snowboard instructor in the first place.

Sounds like a mid life crisis and selfish to boot.

CosyTeaBags · 29/01/2014 10:03

I couldn't quite understand why, if he wanted to be a snowboard instructor, they were looking for property in Auckland anyway? Surely it would make sense for them to live near the mountains, where the snow is.

Or would he get to swan off to the ski resorts for half the year, living the high life, while his wife works full time and the kids are with a childminder?

Martha75 · 29/01/2014 10:04

Dd2 wanted to just snowboard when she was doing gap year! Reality takes over, she's now teaching.

CosyTeaBags · 29/01/2014 10:05

It seems that he was planning on working in an indoor snowdome. They have those in the UK too.

So if he was serious, why not do that, and actually train to be an instructor. Because, at the moment, he's just a middle aged man with no experience, competing in a job market full of young, fit lads who have been doing it all their lives.... Hmm It's not as if his english language skills will be an advantage for him in NZ either!

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 29/01/2014 10:09

Ooh, Hello :) thanks for the link Sparklingbrook. I was tutting over on another thread about today's obviously not going anywhere couple.

Sparklingbrook · 29/01/2014 10:10

YY this is the place to tut Everything. Only 2 shows left.

Martha75 · 29/01/2014 10:11

Mid life crisis, is this all there is to life etc etc.

Well yes, take stock of what you have which is more than most, make some adjustments, buy some wetsuits, they do sell them here, buy a chalet in n devon or cornwall, go snowboarding every year, looks like they can afford it.
Exasperated!

ssd · 29/01/2014 10:14

pile of shite

Martha75 · 29/01/2014 10:18

Only 2 more? Great perhaps I'll get something done in the mornings

Sparklingbrook · 29/01/2014 10:19

ssd fair comment on today's. Grin

Horsemad · 29/01/2014 10:19

Didn't it say they owned some rental properties? They could sell their house plus a rental property & relocate to Cornwall.

Piggychunk · 29/01/2014 10:20

Think they had 3 Envy

BlueberryWoods · 29/01/2014 10:26

I really liked the mum. She is obviously smart. I wonder how she managed to leave school without the correct GCSEs and had to do them at night school.

I was under the impression the dad was on a career break now in the UK (having already worked hard and earned a load of money previously). So she is already the main bread winner at the moment - going to NZ would not change that.
With the drop in her salary and leaving family and friends, I don't think they would be better off in NZ. It looks like they have a great life here. If he does not need to work (or doesn't need to earn much) then he could follow his dreams here.

Davros · 29/01/2014 14:47

Just catching up on today's. The dad is a tosser. The houses today were nicer but presumably that's because they've got more money than the usual participants but I still didn't LOVE them. The houses seem very close together and still have poxy gardens. Just watching the bit where he talks about his planned snowboarding career, she looks like she's about to burst out laughing .... Or crying!

CosyTeaBags · 29/01/2014 15:24

I used to live in Oz, (I know this one was NZ), and the houses mostly ARE rubbish. Very old fashioned - think Neighbours or Kath & Kim.

BUT, there are some amazing ones, with wonderful verandas and sea views, or in lush tropical forest - and I cannot understand why anyone moving to the other side of the world, would choose to do so to live in suburbia. If you're going to make that move, you would do it for somewhere fabulous, not some mediochre 1980s throwback cul-de-sac...

I'll reign my property snob back in now... ahem.

NicknameIncomplete · 29/01/2014 18:16

I found this episode boring.

Cant wait to watch next weeks revisited. The best bit is that i am on holiday from work so can watch it live Grin

kaizen · 29/01/2014 20:01

Noooooooo!! Don't relocate him to bloody Cornwall, ship him off to NZ- I live too near and I don't want to see him clogging up the waves.
