MsNobodyAgain · 06/12/2013 14:49

This is a thread for all lovers of the daytime soap 'Doctors', BBC1, 1.45pm. All welcome, newbies, regulars, lurkers. Let me entertain you with a festive song:

The 12 Days of Doctors Christmas
On the twelfth day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Twelve Mandy's fretting
Eleven Chris's whinging
Ten Jimmi's washing
Nine Heston's scripting
Eight Barry's peering
Seven Daniel's flirting
Six Zara's glaring
Five paaaa-tients!
Four sad Robs
Three pies for Al
Two Karens
And a tabard in a pear tree

Xmas Smile Xmas Smile Xmas Smile

The apostrophe police will have a field day with that one ^

(Private note to Kev: go on.....show me your baubles! Xmas Grin)

Oh was it the receptionist / trained phlebotomist one? I thought that too! I can just imagine Karen rolling her eyes at the patient demanding to see a "real nurse"!

I have PM'd WhoKnows just in case it is a different hidden gem of a thread!

Was meant to go to the panto today but DD was poorly, vomiting and raised temperature. I am gutted, because I really wanted to see the Hoff, but I didn't feel I could go and leave DH to it. Xmas Sad

AnneEyhtMeyer · 30/12/2013 21:10

I have been out in the street twice in my pyjamas:

First time: early hours of the morning, was still up but dressed for bed. All of a sudden a swarm of wasps came through a tiny gap in my window and I fled my flat. I lived above a shop and knew the owner would be sorting the papers, so went outside and banged on his door, begging for fly-spray! Fortunately it was still dark.

Second time: I was pub-sitting and the veg delivery guy left the gate open, and I let the dogs out to the garden for their morning pee, not realising. They bolted out the gate and down the (main) road. I ran after them in tartan pyjamas and comedy wolf slippers. It took me ages to catch them and I was seen by a great number of people.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 30/12/2013 21:13

I bet Jimmi wears a onesie. With creases ironed into the front of the legs.

ClayDavis · 30/12/2013 21:27

I'm not sure if Jimmi would wear a onsie. Chris and Mandy definitely, teenage Karen probably would. Heston and Mrs T definitely not.

I judged myself Anne. Now I think I only need a tattoo, another piercing and to smoke outside the school gates before I become the sort of person whose children you wouldn't want yours in the same school as. Pretty good result I think. Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 30/12/2013 21:30

Another piercing? Is one acceptable?

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 30/12/2013 21:31

Yes, the fuming at the Doctors one. It was the receptionist masquerading as a nurse that put me in mind of Gobby.

cinnamongreyhound · 30/12/2013 21:31

Oh no AnneEyhtMeyer poor DD and you! We went to panto with Sheila ferguson and a bloke from Hollyoaks would have been much more excite if it had been the hoff!

OodToSeeTheBackOf2013 · 30/12/2013 21:38

Jimmi & Howard would have stripy starched pjs
Heston would have night gown and hat
Zara & 6tl in silky negligees
Chris, mandy , young karen in onesies
Old Karen in brushed cotton pjs
Mrs T in a very respectable M&S nightie
Daniel & Al just in their very different pants

OodToSeeTheBackOf2013 · 30/12/2013 21:38

I think I gave that too much thought!

ClayDavis · 30/12/2013 21:41

Missed the bit about your DD, Anne. Hope she is feeling better soon.

I have no idea how many piercings are acceptable, cinnamon. It was a very strange thread and the OP never returned. Since I've had violent dog types and depression I don't think how many piercings I may or may not have matters. I'm probably just the wrong sort of person anyway. Grin

ClayDavis · 30/12/2013 21:43

I don't think it's you Ood. I think it's the rest of us hadn't given it enough thought.

OodToSeeTheBackOf2013 · 30/12/2013 21:48

Now what about Barry? Ironed striped pjs but from a cheaper shop tha Jimmi and Howard?

Rob would be a pants man too I reckon.

Valerie in a M&S frilly nightie?

OodToSeeTheBackOf2013 · 30/12/2013 21:49

Kevin would be naked.

OodToSeeTheBackOf2013 · 30/12/2013 21:50
cinnamongreyhound · 30/12/2013 22:02

Daniel would definitely be naked! We've seen Kev in bed he was wearing a dodgy vest Wink

Raahh · 30/12/2013 22:10

fairly dull birthday all round as usual . Ended up at the Lego centre again at the Trafford centre ,and the traffic was horrendous, far worse than the last couple of times we have been . And on the way back, the traffic was at a standstill and there were lots of police and ambulances about. We don't know why . At first we thought it was to do with the young lad who went missing the other day- but his body has now been found in the city centreSad

I have prosecco.

Re- pj's- surely 6tl goes home and slums in the 'dressing gown of death' Grin.

I imagine Zara sleeps in louboutins and chanel number 5.

TBFE will have neatly pressed army issue pj's in khaki. (or something- I do not know if such a thing existsGrin)

And if Kev sleeps nekkid, then his Freya (who?) tattoo would be very visibleGrin

Gobbyplod just sleeps with his helmet. may have used that joke before

I am desperate to take the tree down. This part of Christmas depresses me. And dh is working all over New year, not that we ever do anything.

I'll be here, spouting drivel --again- at midnight tomorrow, offering virtual snogs to anyone who wants one.

Wine
cinnamongreyhound · 30/12/2013 22:51

Me too re the tree, will wait until the weekend though. Dss has only just opened his pressies so it still had a function until today.

Lego centre doesn't sound like and idea mummy birthday treat!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 30/12/2013 23:03

Happy Birthday Raahh!! Cake Wine Thanks

I haven't been to the Lego Discovery Centre yet. I keep saying to DD we will go as it is on our Merlin pass, but I can never face actually going.

I'll be here for your virtual snogs, I'll even brush my virtual teeth before puckering up! Xmas Grin

Raahh · 30/12/2013 23:10
Xmas Grin

We have annual passes to Lego, so it pays for itself. It's ok- not too big, and there is a large cafe, so it's really just a glorified softplay, with hard lego bits.Grin We went out for ds's birthday yesterday, so couldn't do anything today really, so Lego it was!

My prosecco, even though it is only from aldi , is very niceGrin

Dh will no doubt be asleep before 9pm- so I will be seeing the New year in on here.

I will also brush my teeth Wink

AnneEyhtMeyer · 30/12/2013 23:18

We go to Alton Towers a lot as it is fairly close, but this year got a Merlin Pass rather than just an AT one, and we have really got our money's worth. Apart from numerous trips to AT, we have had several to Warwick Castle, a couple of days at Legoland and a ride on the London Eye. I do want to go to the Discovery Centre though, as DD would love it.

I am a big fan of Aldi wine. It always wins awards and blind tastings.

DH goes to bed early on NYE, he is hopeless at staying up late, so I will be by myself as usual, but with clean teeth and a bottle of wine!

Raahh · 30/12/2013 23:27

I have never been to Alton Towers. I feel this is something i need to do, at some point. I'm probably too short for the ridesGrin

I love Aldi wine/port/vodka/ alcohol in general. it has enhanced my Christmas. Grin

I used to love New year's eve, when they showed ancient films at midnight. They don't do that now. It's usually hours of pointless rubbish/Jools Holland's 'filmed in July' Hootenanny.

I have very rarely been out NYE. It just doesn't appeal. The year I turned 30, i went out bowling on NYE- that was fun. But since I've had dcs, finding sitters is just too hard (and expensive).

So, I promise to waffle extensively on the state of the world, if I stay away past 10pm. Xmas Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 30/12/2013 23:36

I used to like the old films on NYE too! Fond memories of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at midnight! I used to go out as a teenager /early 20s, but now I'd rather be home because I'm old.

Aldi cheese enhanced my Christmas, as well as their alcohol!

I think this year I'll be watching Gary Barlow's live concert on BBC1 and talking nonsense on here. I can't watch the "pretend it is NYE" Hootenanny any more, it is too forced and smug.

I don't get to go on the rides at AT any more, I get to watch DD go on them.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 30/12/2013 23:37

I go away for a couple of hours to watch the darts and you lot are lowering the tone with your talk of Gobbyplod's helmet.

I have never been to Alton Towers or Aldi, nearest Aldi is 45 mins drive away so not worth it.

A belated Happy Birthday to you Raahh and I will be around for chat tomorrow night as I have no social life.

Raahh · 30/12/2013 23:50

Yay! more NYE recruits. Xmas Grin

I watched 'Seven Brides..' the other day, because it is one of my favourites- the dcs were unimpressed. Xmas Grin

I might watch 'half a sixpence' or 'gigi' in the morning, just to annoy themGrin

I used to love watching Shirley Temple/Deanna Durban films with my granny. They don't make repeat films like that any more. Grin

ClayDavis · 30/12/2013 23:55

I'll be here for NYE too.

Don't think I've seen the film of 'Seven Brides'. My sister did it one year with her musical theatre group though. I'm not sure it was entirely authentic. There was a lot of laughing from the cast on stage.
