This is a thread for all lovers of the daytime soap 'Doctors', BBC1, 1.45pm. All welcome, newbies, regulars, lurkers. Let me entertain you with a festive song:

The 12 Days of Doctors Christmas
On the twelfth day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Twelve Mandy's fretting
Eleven Chris's whinging
Ten Jimmi's washing
Nine Heston's scripting
Eight Barry's peering
Seven Daniel's flirting
Six Zara's glaring
Five paaaa-tients!
Four sad Robs
Three pies for Al
Two Karens
And a tabard in a pear tree

Xmas Smile Xmas Smile Xmas Smile

The apostrophe police will have a field day with that one ^

(Private note to Kev: go on.....show me your baubles! Xmas Grin)

I have got to go out this afternoon. Boooo! And I have just heard the weather forecast. Not good.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/12/2013 07:36

Today I'm making mince pies, Christmas-tree-shaped ice cubes and doing a last-minute tidy. I need to pop to the shop but really would rather stay inside in my dressing gown.

I'm expecting a parcel too, although I expect it will arrive in the 5 minutes I am out at the shop.

I hope DH makes it home today - mainly so I don't have to take DD to M&S at 6am tomorrow morning for my food collection slot!

OodKingWenceslas · 23/12/2013 09:04

Have just let dd3 wake the teens. Heard the screams two floors away. Grin told them its practice for Wednesday when they have to be up at the same time as her!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/12/2013 09:10

Right I have made an executive decision not to leave the house today! I can rearrange what we are eating today so I don't need to go out until tomorrow, when I need to go out anyway. So that means I am going to cook the enormous gammon now rather than tomorrow.

Anyway, have just read some stuff about Doctors next year! One of the dull ones is leaving! Sadly not the one top of my list, but it is progress! Looks like we are getting a new doctor too!

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 23/12/2013 09:17

Yes, I've just read that as well Anne - it has made me all excited about it coming back. I see there is going to be an influx of people from other soaps. No sign of Hestembe though Sad.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/12/2013 09:24

I know, I am really excited about it coming back too!

Looks like Mrs T will have some good storylines though. Glad to see Heston is finally buying Juuuulia's house.

curlyclaz13 · 23/12/2013 09:51

I need doctors in my life ! I miss wtf to make my life normal Grin sorry been absent of late but can't get my act together with small and Christmas tbh I wish it was all over and back to normal already. I am such a grinch !

cinnamongreyhound · 23/12/2013 10:06

My kids will be the same with granny's cooking AnneEhytMeyer, my mum either burns it or doesn't cook it at all!

My dad is coming up from Hertfordshire tomorrow and my brother from Norwich so hoping it's not too bad. We're going to my mums Christmas Day but it's only a mile away!

I need to shop today but will only go to local tesco for a few bits and we will bake some Christmas biscuits today or tomorrow but otherwise we'll be pretty lazy watching Christmas tv :)

Saw the digital spy link from fb page, sounds interesting. Really hoping for an eventually happy ending for the gobby's and :( that Daniels off to Greece.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/12/2013 10:39

Oh what are the Christmas biscuits, cinnamon?

I have a long list of "things to do". I don't want to do any of them, I just want to doze on the sofa.

ClayDavis · 23/12/2013 10:40

The digital spy link does look interesting. I wont hold my breath about an interesting story for Jimmi though. Or an interesting exit for the dull person.

Sounds like the Karen story might run for a bit though.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/12/2013 11:21

I have a Christmas cookie book, let my boys choose a recipe each year for us to cook :)

Raahh · 23/12/2013 11:34

I have to go out, as i forgot to pick up my prescription on Friday- and the chemist may have to order it, so if i don't take it today, it may be a disasterGrin

The spoilers look interesting. I suppose it is right that the Gobby storyline is not wrapped up too quickly, but it's getting a bit dull.

Glad Chris is going. Can he take his mother with him??

Please tell me Val isn't a permanent fixtureSad. That is the the only thing I want for Christmas. Xmas Grin

Anyone else worried that FOD's big storyline- that also involves Kev- is the return of Freya (who) ?!!

Xmas Grin
cinnamongreyhound · 23/12/2013 11:44

It said that Valerie will be back as when needed and she has time so she's going to be like Barry :)

ClayDavis · 23/12/2013 11:47

Sounds like fun cinnmon.

I'd love to not leave the house again today but I have to go to work. The weather here is dire and getting worse by the second. I've given up on getting dry again. Now would be a good time for my boss to phone and say they're sending everyone home because of the weather.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/12/2013 11:47

Raahh your Christmas wish is (sadly) granted, the article said that Val may come back after her current stint, so she is obviously going soon. Xmas Sad

I think the FOD / Kevin storyline is that they get together. I think Kev has a knack for turning gay women straight!

Christmas cookie book sounds good, cinnamon. I saw a recipe on the Aldi website the other day for mincemeat cookies which I was quite tempted to make.

Parcel arrived - handsome postie too, with a Santa hat on. I still had my pink tasteless fleecy dressing gown on, hair sticking up haphazardly. Not a good look. I opened the parcel as it was from my aunt for DD, and she always sends clothes. I have to open it because she smokes like a chimney, so I have to put the clothes straight in the wash when they arrive to stop the house stinking.

My mince pie making has been stalled by the fact that the oven is in use cooking the huge gammon until 4pm. I didn't really think this through. My Christmas tree ice cubes are a triumph, though! Second lot freezing now! They look brilliant!

Raahh · 23/12/2013 11:58

I'm not getting very far. I was quite good yesterday, did a fair bit of tidying up. Can't get motivated today. We've just watched the second half of Nativity 2 we left yesterday.

I really need to go out, but the weather is awful.
And dh, who had root canal work last week, has a broken tooth on the other side that has flared up. His appointment is 3.30 Christmas eve. It's going to be a jolly Christmas chez Raahh!Xmas Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/12/2013 13:02

I keep doing things on my list but the list keeps getting longer.

I have just been outside to bring the bin in and post the neighbours' cards. It is not nice out there.

Raahh · 23/12/2013 13:39

A massive tree has fallen over half the main road. I am not a fan of snow- but a crisp, cold wintry day is far preferable to this Xmas SadI've still got bits of shopping to do, no money til tomorrow to do it. Mind you, I went to Sainsburys 9am last year on Christmas eve, was actually very quiet.

The kids have already destroyed all my tidying efforts. I don't know why I bother. Xmas Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/12/2013 16:21

Well my list is nearly done now. The gammon is out of the oven and the house smells lovely.

I just need to make the mince pies now. I have made the pastry and it is chilling in the fridge. Must get off my bum and actually make them now.

Raahh trees falling scares me. I hope we don't get power cuts. I much prefer a cold dry day to this. I've still got to go to M&S tomorrow morning to pick up my turkey and the passionfruit mousse puddings. My slot is at 6am, so hopefully I'll be home by 7am. Although saying that, last year the lorry was delayed and I had to hang around for an hour while they unloaded it and sorted out the orders.

MsNobodyAgain · 23/12/2013 16:29

Raahh surely even the Doctors writers can't bring Freya (who?) back...she's dead! She could always do a Bobby Ewing I suppose.

I also reckon it is FOD and Kev getting jiggy with it ending with an up-duff dilemma.

What could Mrs T be up to though? Very interrrrrrresting.

I have just been out. Weather dire but shops not as bad as I thought. I got everything I needed including lots of Oust. The house seems to be taking on a sweaty boy smell. Ewwwwwww!

MsNobodyAgain · 23/12/2013 16:33

X post Anne. Your house smells of gammon and mine smells of soap dodgers. I know where I would rather be Xmas Grin

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/12/2013 18:16

Mine smells of gammon and mince pies now. I need to make sure I don't eat all the mince pies. I've already picked at the gammon to the point I now don't want any dinner. Xmas Blush

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 23/12/2013 18:22

We had a tree fall within sight of the house this lunchtime (there's a green opposite our house and it blocked the road on the other side) - the police arrived and dealt with it very promptly. Went to a friend's house this morning for coffee and delivered neighbours cards tonight, but stayed in otherwise, it's foul out there.

I've got pastry chilling in the fridge for mince pies later too Smile. Need to go and tackle the living room now, have let the DCs play on the Wii in there all afternoon and it looks a state.

Raahh · 23/12/2013 20:10

I have just been to Sainsburys to get my trout, as i decided I needed to get a way from the kids to do it now. I felt very sorry for the poor lad on the fish counter- he was doing the meat too, and had a very awkward customer. I was very happy with my trout, and wished him a merry Christmas. He looked about 12 Xmas Grin

FOD upduffed??? I prefer the ghost of Freya (who)? tbhXmas Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 23/12/2013 20:45

I went to tesco which wasn't too bad and managed to miss the rain to walk the dogs but got pretty wet running with them tonight but was nice :)

Will bake tomorrow while dh is at work :)
