MsNobodyAgain · 06/12/2013 14:49

This is a thread for all lovers of the daytime soap 'Doctors', BBC1, 1.45pm. All welcome, newbies, regulars, lurkers. Let me entertain you with a festive song:

The 12 Days of Doctors Christmas
On the twelfth day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Twelve Mandy's fretting
Eleven Chris's whinging
Ten Jimmi's washing
Nine Heston's scripting
Eight Barry's peering
Seven Daniel's flirting
Six Zara's glaring
Five paaaa-tients!
Four sad Robs
Three pies for Al
Two Karens
And a tabard in a pear tree

Xmas Smile Xmas Smile Xmas Smile

The apostrophe police will have a field day with that one ^

(Private note to Kev: go on.....show me your baubles! Xmas Grin)

Oh you've made me cry too.
I took pictures of Ds when he was ill as I was scared. They are now part of our year book. It was the longest fortnight of my life , I've no idea how you can stay strong for the length of chemo etc.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/12/2013 11:10

Open the packet and put it in a pan with some oil MsNobodyAgain and you can still have popcorn :)

I'm so lucky that I have two healthy children, ds1 has had his adenoids out but have never had any long term concerns. You are both very strong women!

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 21/12/2013 11:45

Hope DD1 is better today Raahh. My DD had a vomiting bug last week and was right as rain after 48 hours. They seem to bounce abck better than me.

Yes, the Christmas appeals thread is lovely, I've been watching that one as well. I have just seen some news on another thread that has made me feel very happy and emotional too.

MsN - I always microwave popcorn, but you can do it in a pan as Cinnamon says, I find it catches quite easily unless you give it a good shake every now and then though maybe my pans are thin and crappy.

Just taken my two to see Father Christmas, I had thought we would be past this stage by now (they are nearly 10 and 8|) but no, they still wanted to do it, so that was nice.

MsNobodyAgain · 21/12/2013 12:48

How dumb am I thinking you could only do popcorn in a microwave Xmas Blush

You are brave who taking the DCs out today. I have kept away from the town centre and have no intention of going out tomorrow either.

I am clearing the DCs bedrooms out in preparation for Christmas day. I can't bear mess in the living room so presents go upstairs where I can shut the doors on them.

Back to work now.

We kept well away from town MsN - we went to a local attraction place out in the sticks which has a grotto. DS wants to go into town now, but only our local town (small market town) which should be OK, I shudder at the thought of going to the big shopping centres today. Although tomorrow we are braving the crowds for ice skating at Winchester Christmas market, but we have booked the earliest slot which has worked well in the past, we are finished by the time it gets really crowded.

toldmyhollywreath · 21/12/2013 16:10

Thanks Ood & MsNo
I would NEVER use a microwave for popcorn again, after ours caught alight when doing just that
I just buy the Butterkist stuff instead.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 21/12/2013 17:00

Really? Wow. That must have been scary. Was that one of the ones in the paper bag? I do those sometimes, or get kernels and do it in a big pyrex bowl with a plate on top.

OodKingWenceslas · 21/12/2013 18:14

I've got dd1/2 a popcorn machine for Xmas as they are obsessed by the stuff. I don't like then using the pan so they usually have bags of it. Dh makes a lovely toffee sauce for on it too but I can't eat it as its condensed milk

MsNobodyAgain · 21/12/2013 18:37

Well it doesn't look like movie night is going to happen anyway. DS1 and DD are on Minecraft and DS2 is playing with 2 empty Coke cans Hmm.

Time to descend into crap TV again. God, I miss Doctors Xmas Sad

I bet Mrs T is sprucing up the church ready for the Christmas services. She will have her bob wig and will be wearing tinsel in a tasteful manner.

Yes Whoknows it was one of those paper bag things- I was watching it & followed instructions to the letter. It caught fire so quickly & then the microwave caught alight. I just pulled out the plug & took it outside, it shook me up.
MsNo- I'm watching Strictly final-that's not crap TV!

OodKingWenceslas · 21/12/2013 19:54

Strictly here too !

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 21/12/2013 20:26

Strictly here as well. I am Confused. Before the show started I wanted Abby to win but I didn't like her show dance at all.

Told - we keep lots of stuff on top of the microwave, it has never occurred to me that they can catch fire. Hmmm.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/12/2013 20:35

I'm watching Strictly, too, for the first time this series, in fact the first time since they replaced Arlene with that annoying on with the scraped back hair and grating voice.

I like Sophie Ellis Bexter best. Mainly because I remember her mum being pregnant with her whilst on Blue Peter. I am ignoring the fact that this must make me ancient.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/12/2013 20:41

Sophie Ellis Bextor has grown on me during the series but I don't like Brendan!

I was Ashley (Darren from Hollyoaks) to win but as he's out I don't really mind :)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/12/2013 20:47

I am the kiss of death, obviously! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 21/12/2013 20:52

I don't think Susanna is good enough but the public like her so I think she's going to win.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/12/2013 21:01

She won't win if I back her!

Tess hasn't got any more professional since the last time I watched this. She is jigging about as if she needs a wee.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/12/2013 21:02

I don't like Abby. She's got a face that looks like she is sneering and pouting all the time.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/12/2013 21:04

I don't watch Corrie so I don't dislike the corrie woman like my mum does. She won't vote for her because she was horrible to Tyrone apparently!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/12/2013 21:07

Oh yes, I'm with your mum on that one. I could never vote for the Corrie woman. She was a nasty piece of work. It is too soon to see her as anyone other than the character.

toldmyhollywreath · 21/12/2013 21:11

Blimey Anne If you're ancient then I'm Methuselah. I remember Val, Peter & john Noakes. I'd already stopped watching when Janet Ellis was presenting Blue Peter.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/12/2013 21:13

She dances very well though! And the judges love her.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/12/2013 21:22

I would probably be of an age to remember Val, John & Peter, too, told, but I lived abroad with no telly for a couple of years.

I don't care how she dances, cinnamon, she made Tyrone's life a misery!

cinnamongreyhound · 21/12/2013 21:26

Poor Tyrone, let's go for Susanna then Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/12/2013 21:27

Ok, I've just looked up when they were on and I am definitely too young for Val's era, but not John and Peter. I also remember a bit of Lesley Judd.

Looking at the dates of the presenters I watched I must have been quite an innocent child because I was obviously watching into my teens. Blush
