I'm still stupidly excited about the 'new' Troughton episodes, but just to add to the fun, Watch are showing some seriously classic episodes today from 2pm. Any else watching? And what are you looking forward to as we approach the anniversary episode and beyond?

I was born just after DW started. Brother very disappointed I was not a boy but asked if I could be called Dr. Who by way of compensation. Lucky escape I had but it might be quite cool now..

BurlyShassey · 02/11/2013 18:50

good for you!

not actually going to bother with the CE episodes, they were the only 2 CE episodes we didn't like!

Star Wars is on ITV so well watch that for the millionth time.

well watch the programme about the 9th doc though.

8th Doc tomorrow!

BurlyShassey · 02/11/2013 18:51

Grinpoppy!

edam · 02/11/2013 20:46

I don't know if there are any tickets left, but there are live screenings of the 50th anniversary episode at local cinemas. Took me a looong time to get the website to load but have got tickets for me and ds and he's thrilled. I got the details from Doctor Who on facebook, if anyone's interested.

Love the way they are using #savetheday, v clever.

edam · 02/11/2013 20:47

(And The Box of Delights is one of my favourite childhood books, but I may have told you that already, Kay.)

BerstieSpotts · 02/11/2013 22:32

Are they doing documentaries about the different doctors? What are they called? :)

poppyknot · 02/11/2013 22:46

I would happily watch a few Jon Pertwee episodes, Green Deathor Sea Devils maybe. UNIT, Jo and all those hot pants....

BurlyShassey · 03/11/2013 18:53

Doctor WHo-the doctors revisited Berstie. on Watc before they show an episode.

today? mmmmmmmmmmmmm, Paul MMMMMMMMMMMMMCGann as the doctor.

mmmmmmmmmmmm. gonna be a toss up between him and Capaldi for the yummiest doc!!!!!

KayHarker · 03/11/2013 20:20

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and Battlefield. Jean Marsh (was it Jean Marsh?) does evil queen terribly well. It feels like we're on a downhill slope towards the 23rd and I'm enjoying every minute!

Are the BBC not going to show any old episodes? I didn't realise they were on watch, and the aren't saved on catch up TV, so I only caught the movie. Have missed all the documentaries. It just feels odd that Watch are doing all the build up and not the BBC, considering the amount of money they make out of it in merchandise and selling the rights etc.

fancyanother · 03/11/2013 20:25

I mean the classic ones, not the 'new old' ones, which they show on BBC 3 all the time.

BurlyShassey · 03/11/2013 20:37

Fancy im also a bit Hmm the BBC haven't done all these old episode/doctors either.

yes weve got the specials coming up but apart from that the BBC are a bit meh about it aren't they? Doctor Who is their longest running/successful (AFAIK) showand where is it?

from 1st Jan this year they should have shown from the very 1st episode of 1st Doc maybe 2 episodes a week on BBC2/3/4?

the docGrinumetaries have been great on Watch.

but they don't do subtitles there either and we need them.

you know I got into DW because of the 9th doc but seeng all the others im a confirmes old who fan now more than the newer ones (prob change mind when Capaldi starts!). the old ones had more stories and the newere ones, although there hav been some brill episodes, just seem to relymore on fx/music/snogging!

fancyanother · 03/11/2013 20:53

Yes I would have thought they would have shown all the available episodes on BBC3 or something. The new fans haven't seen the old ones. My 6 year old DS was gripped today watching the three Doctors. (Me and DH were sniggering at the terrible effects and ropey monsters but he loved it and it was quite a good story!)

It must be their longest running show. It is definitely the worlds longest running Sci Fi drama, since Star Trek ended, which in itself should warrant a bit more than 2 episodes and a drama documentary!

BurlyShassey · 03/11/2013 21:02

we should all bombard the BBC complaints dept!

INVASION OF THE WHOVIANS!

Ohwhatwitcheryisthis · 03/11/2013 21:28

dd is going to see the next episode at the proper cinema in 3 bloody D! I'm so jealous. But me and the other whovians are having a dr and curry and Wine night. Grin

fancyanother · 04/11/2013 14:22

I can't believe they haven't got millions of complaints from all the middle aged male Whovians on Digital Spy moaning at them already! Maybe we will make a nice change for them, and they might do something Smile

Snapespeare · 05/11/2013 18:10

I am bumping this for excitement and love and place marking. so excited!!

LetZygonsbeZygons · 05/11/2013 19:21
