I'm still stupidly excited about the 'new' Troughton episodes, but just to add to the fun, Watch are showing some seriously classic episodes today from 2pm. Any else watching? And what are you looking forward to as we approach the anniversary episode and beyond?

OP posts:

Oh, yes. Martha and Mickey would be a good couple imo.

QueenOfGeeks · 23/11/2013 22:23

Gosh yes, absolutely jellybaby, stupid stupid autocorrect.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 23/11/2013 22:23

I didn't like Martha because she kept moaning about how she felt about him and how he didn't notice her. Hmm She was far too hung up on him. It was annoying.

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 22:25

CE was/is my favourite Doctor. I just loved the leather jacket and the can't be arsed with this attitude.

But then I loved him in The Second Coming, which may have biassed me.

fancyanotherfez · 23/11/2013 22:26

Some of Martha's stories were great- I loved Family of Blood- but she was written as an annoying lovesick girl. She didn't need to be at all. It added nothing to the character or plot.

AutumnWind · 23/11/2013 22:28

I cannot stand Rose. I wish they would leave her out of it.

Enjoyed the episode, though. Liked it where the other Doctors were on the monitors, wish they could have done more of that!

letsgotostonehenge · 23/11/2013 22:31

oh my god autumn, take that back!!!

SeaDevilscanPlay · 23/11/2013 22:32

The porthole thingies reminded me a little of the black triangles in The Five Doctors.

lambbone · 23/11/2013 22:33

Romana! Romana! Romana! E-Space!

specialsubject · 23/11/2013 22:38

what did happen to the Zygons?

what the hell. Just loved it and left with a big grin. Been a while since a big DW special has ended happily.

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 22:38

I don't like Billie Piper much, but I do think the Rose character was great.

I cried the day she met up with the DTcopy Blush and I don't cry easily.

AutumnWind · 23/11/2013 22:42

AutumnWind · 23/11/2013 22:43

Oops forgot
Tardis

AliceinWinterWonderland · 23/11/2013 22:43

true fancy I think the writing failed Martha, really. She could have been a much stronger better character without the love interest.

letsgotostonehenge · 23/11/2013 22:45

controversial autumn , controversial Grin

fancyanotherfez · 23/11/2013 22:49

See, I hated the Rose DT copy bit- surely being left with a looky likey with the superhero bits taken out is just rubbish? I groaned when I heard she was going to be in this, but I loved her part. Thought she was really good in it Tardis

SnapespeareSong · 23/11/2013 22:50

The things missed, I think, is that I really don't feel emotionally invested,I didn't get teary (until I saw Tom, but that was because he has aged and although he seems amazingly ebullient, I think he is starting to look frail and that scares me.)

River gave the doctor her remaining regenerations. We have no idea how many that is, because we arent quite sure what regen river was..
Baby melody is born #1
Add a few regenerations.. Or not.

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 22:52

yy fancy, but she was happy Smile

Which is the best most of us can expect out of life [sigh]

Pixel · 23/11/2013 22:56

Yes I did mean jellybabies, was trying too hard to type without getting left behind by this fast thread, also my laptop keeps jumping off the bit I'm typing for some reason which is maddening. I keep finding myself halfway through a previous sentence or on a previous page Hmm. Must be something to do with timeywimey Grin

SomethingkindaOod · 23/11/2013 22:57

Late to the party as usual Grin
Slightly disappointed in all honesty, too much like a Star Trek episode - bugger all happens for 3/4 of an hour then everything is sorted out in the last 10 minutes. It was a great episode but nowhere close to living up to the hype.
Having said that, the 3 Doctors were fab together, the 13(!!!!) Doctors was a lovely touch and Tom Baker made me well up a little. if they had stretched the actual Galifrey plot line it would have made a better episode than banging on with giving DT another excuse to kiss someone.

The live thing afterwards was ridiculous and I'm pretty certain my DS and his mates could have done better!

jellybabyanyone · 23/11/2013 22:57

shame CE wasn't in it. loved the spoof extra with the 3 80s doctors on the red button.

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 23:04

Yes to the live thing being silly.

There doesn't seem much point in interviewing celebrities who haven't actually watched the episode, or talking to random members of the public [baffled]

fancyanotherfez · 23/11/2013 23:05

Ooh I was in the cinema and missed the extra- is it still on the red button? (I could just look...)

But Mary How could she be happy??? She must have only wanted him for his body! (Wails)

edamsavestheday · 23/11/2013 23:06

Saw it in the cinema with ds - real atmosphere of goodwill and shared enjoyment. Everyone gasped when Tom Baker turned up. I loved it! But need to see it again NOT in 3D.

ShinyBauble · 23/11/2013 23:07

Donna was my favourite companion by far. And CE my favourite Doctor - it's such a shame he couldn't put his grievances aside to come back for the 50th. He did allege that workers were being bullied on the set though, so I can see he would have found it impossible to go back.

Martha suffered from being the next companion after the sainted Rose, much as Matt Smith's Doctor suffered from following Tennant (David Tennant has trended on twitter through almost every one of Matt's Episodes.)
