I'm still stupidly excited about the 'new' Troughton episodes, but just to add to the fun, Watch are showing some seriously classic episodes today from 2pm. Any else watching? And what are you looking forward to as we approach the anniversary episode and beyond?

Hated Donna.

Martha wasn't short changed imho. She was the only one who was truly independent and that in itself, in the presence of the Doctor, is actually a pretty big deal.

The Doctor needed Martha more than she ultimately needed him.

gussiegrips · 23/11/2013 22:08

I've never really "got" Dr Who - well, not since it was good with Tom Baker...but, watched it tonight with the kids. Converted.

And, with the prospect of Peter Capaldi to dribble over. Well, Christmas is sorted. I may have a knitting pattern for a Dr Who Tom Baker scarf which is calling me from the "to do" pile

SontaranForADestructiveStroll · 23/11/2013 22:08

Wow. That was amazing. I want to watch it again!

LeBearPolar · 23/11/2013 22:09

"I don't want to go"

letsgotostonehenge · 23/11/2013 22:10

labear i know Sad

SeaDevilscanPlay · 23/11/2013 22:10

She did travel all over the world for him though.

Thats my problem. Its all about what the girls can do for him. I know its great that they are not standing about looking pretty or screaming a la Jo Grant, but still, they are always there to save him, not because they offer anything else.

Oh I dont know. I have had Wine and I don't even think I am making sense.

QueenOfGeeks · 23/11/2013 22:11

Loved it, the only thing that would have made it more perfect was if TB had offered him a jellybean before he left.

I thought they still had to fix the regeneration problem, but must have missed it if River fixed it.

SeaDevilscanPlay · 23/11/2013 22:11

I don't want to go

Its the little jut of the chin he does which gets me every time.

fancyanotherfez · 23/11/2013 22:13

I loved it! My DS announced "That was more awesome than Ben 10!" (you dont say!!!) But honestly, would it have killed Christopher Ecclestone to turn up for the day, do a regeneration scene, say 3 lines and get on with his life? That was my one slight disappointment!
In DT's last episode, were the Time lords not timelocked and they got out through The Masters signal in his brain? Is that now what the frozen thing was?

  1. Also I thought there must have been some sort of signal to all the timelords to come together at that time and then go back into their own timestreams, where they would have forgotten what they just did. Very timey wimey!
I loved the way John Hurt looked so bewildered at the 'rebooted' Doctors- how young they were and the stupid catchphrases!
iklFaceOfBooe · 23/11/2013 22:13

Oi, spaceman!

Pixel · 23/11/2013 22:14

Yes! I said "what, no jellybean?" and dd looked at me all Hmm.

Piffpandoricapoff · 23/11/2013 22:14

Well, that was brilliant! DS and I went to see it at the cinema, there were people dressed up. I got a bit sniffly when Tom Baker appeared and then had to explain to DS who it was!

At the cinema, the 'turn off your phones, no videoing' advert was done by Commander Strax, the Sontaren! DS loved that!

RedToothBrush · 23/11/2013 22:14

I think River Song wasn't definitively the explanation for more generations. Its suggested but not confirmed. In truth, I think its been left as not fully resolved precisely to leave it for a future storyline.

ItsBiggerOnTheInside · 23/11/2013 22:14

I agree QueenOfGeeks

letsgotostonehenge · 23/11/2013 22:14

i think christopher ecclestone should have turned up he was amazing as dr who

FrankelInFoal · 23/11/2013 22:14

"You just want to MATE?!" is one of my favourite quotes Grin

SeaDevilscanPlay · 23/11/2013 22:15

Jelly Baby!

Horrid things.

Kasterborous · 23/11/2013 22:15

It was jelly babies not jelly beans not that I'm being pedantic or anything Grin

lljkk · 23/11/2013 22:17

I would so like to have seen CE as well, bit pants if he did refuse to take part.

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 22:17

I also cried when he erased Donna's memory Sad

I like to think she will be back and will be able to remember the good times.

I never liked Martha much, I don't know why, so I don't mind what happens to her.

Sarah-Jane died irl, didn't she? Sad

IWishYouWould · 23/11/2013 22:17

I love Clara, because she thinks and doesn't look to the Dr all the time. Most definitely my favorite. I agree with a previous post, Amy annoyed me towards her end too. Rose's part in tonight's episode was perfect for me.

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 22:18

CE always said he would do one series only.

He brought Dr Who back to life, so I will always be grateful to him.

IWishYouWould · 23/11/2013 22:19

Yes, Sarah Jane did pass away in rl.
Martha is a blip I skip over too.

SeaDevilscanPlay · 23/11/2013 22:19

Yes Mary she did.

Martha became a freedom fighter with Mickey didn't she (or was it Ricky). DT visits them and views them from afar in his last episode.

SeaDevilscanPlay · 23/11/2013 22:21

The scene where CE is talking to the dalek in 'Dalek' is one of the best scenes ever IMO.
