I'm still stupidly excited about the 'new' Troughton episodes, but just to add to the fun, Watch are showing some seriously classic episodes today from 2pm. Any else watching? And what are you looking forward to as we approach the anniversary episode and beyond?

Dalek. Good choice.

OhYouBadBadKaleds · 17/11/2013 21:42

Dalek is a good choice, nice reminder of the time war.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 17/11/2013 22:48

The only trouble with "Dalek" is in how they undermined it afterwards. The last Dalek and the last Time Lord, alone and out of place. The Dalek, waiting forever for a response from the other Daleks that will never come, can't come to terms with his loss of purpose and would rather die than live on as the last Dalek; can the Doctor do otherwise and redefine himself in a universe without Time Lords?

...except that, oh look, it turns out that there are actually millions of Daleks who survived the Time War and are just hanging around watching paint dry. And when they've all been destroyed, there are some more Daleks who were hanging around in the Void, and then eventually there's the Dalek Paradigm and the Asylum of the Daleks. So if the Dalek in "Dalek" had hung on for another five minutes it would have been positively inundated with friends and relations.

PaulMcGannsMistress · 17/11/2013 23:22

The Daleks have spent their entire history on the show being 'wiped out' and surviving in some form or another. Dalek works because it's the first (and arguably scariest) outing for the Daleks in NuWho and gives us Ecclescakes superbly tortured performance. It would be so nice to see him again, however briefly, after Hurt regenerates. Probably not going to happen, but it's on my wish list.

So after getting my ticket to see Dr Who at the cinema on Sunday, DH announced that his work jolly trip that he's flying off on this week actually runs until Sunday evening and not Saturday evening as he thought Angry + Sad. I will of course now be divorcing DH...

On the plus side I managed to find The Night of the Doctor and the science of the doctor and watch them several times with great excitement! Is there anything else that I have missed that I need to go and find? UKTV has been showing lots of old episodes for the last few months so have been working my way through those Grin

TheDoctrineOfWho · 18/11/2013 06:40

Saw the trailer at the cinema yesterday. Looks good!

OodaresingingoftheDoctorDonna · 18/11/2013 08:46

The scariest moment in Dalek comes as they go up the stairs and it follows...

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 18/11/2013 10:39

Review of An Adventure in Space and Time (flagged as "spoiler-free", because they presumably don't want to give away the secret of whether Verity Lambert managed to get her fledgling science fiction show off the ground...)

PaulMcGannsMistress · 18/11/2013 11:16

Am avoiding spoilers and reviews for AAIST, as apparently there are some lovely things in it that are best off unspoiled.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 18/11/2013 11:17

Well, this one does claim to be spoiler-free, and DoG are normally good about that in their reviews.

PaulMcGannsMistress · 18/11/2013 11:19

Oh didn't realize it was DoG, might risk it.

LetZygonsbeZygons · 18/11/2013 17:13

PaulMcGannsMistress · 18/11/2013 17:33

I screamed my head off in delight when Capaldi was announced, so very excited. I'll tell you what though, there's so much anticipation I really hope he doesn't turn out to be a bit pants.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 18/11/2013 17:35

He's never been pants in anything else, so the odds are looking good...

LetZygonsbeZygons · 18/11/2013 17:54

MavisKorvarian · 18/11/2013 20:11

ItsBiggerOnTheInside · 18/11/2013 20:23

Where is her hair!!

TheDoctrineOfWho · 18/11/2013 20:25

She was in another film!

ItsBiggerOnTheInside · 18/11/2013 20:27

For all you fellow McGann fans, there is this rather interesting petition here

could be like another touchwood thing?

TheDoctrineOfWho · 18/11/2013 20:45

Adventure, I can't find the movie on my TV guide, which channel and what time??

HumphreyCobbler · 18/11/2013 20:53

Hello
Just de-lurking on this thread to say that although I have only really recently got back into Doctor Who after being very keen as a child, I have caught up enough with the last five years or so to be TERRIBLY excited about Saturday.

And I have enjoyed reading your thread immensely, thank you.
