I'm still stupidly excited about the 'new' Troughton episodes, but just to add to the fun, Watch are showing some seriously classic episodes today from 2pm. Any else watching? And what are you looking forward to as we approach the anniversary episode and beyond?

I'm really regretting starting much earlier snd doing the lot. We watched the movie this week though to catch dd2 up on the 8th Dr

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 17/11/2013 09:19

The movie's on television on Tuesday (and the DCs will be watching it then -- not quite the right order with "The Night Of The Doctor" but near enough).

TheDoctrineOfWho · 17/11/2013 09:30

Ooh, movie, never saw that...

ItsBiggerOnTheInside · 17/11/2013 09:55

Ok. I've succumbed to a name change too!
(Was shipwreckedandcomatose)

We are watching the monster countdown at the moment and also the old episodes on watch. I LOVED seeing Tom Baker! he's my childhood doctor and just brilliant

SnapespeareSong · 17/11/2013 10:03

There are little bits of the night of the doctor that seem almost shakespearian to me - not that i want moffat to get a big head, as by Shakespearian, i meet derivative :)

'i dont suppose there is any need for a doctor anymore make me a warrior'

ooh, goosebumps!

SnapespeareSong · 17/11/2013 10:04

..makes me think of lady macbeths 'un-sex me now'

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 17/11/2013 10:14

Movie was mostly pants. Paul McGann was excellent but overall they just Really Didn't Get It. I shall still be watching it, though Grin.

PaulMcGannsMistress · 17/11/2013 10:20

The movie is in so-bad-its-good territory, though it does have some nice touches. Eric Roberts is dreadful, the script in general stinks, and the finale is just stupid. But it's kind of fun, and once McGann gets onscreen he inhabits the Doctor effortlessly.

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 17/11/2013 10:22

You also have to adopt "Rule 1: The Doctor lies" to get around the way it stomps all over canon in great big hobnail boots .

PaulMcGannsMistress · 17/11/2013 10:28

Eric Roberts, standing at a window in the buff. "Ah, soon Doctor I will have all your lives. Ah"

And the (whispers) Half human stuff. Which I quite enjoy, but only because I have my own theories...

ItsBiggerOnTheInside · 17/11/2013 11:15

Yeah.. The film was shocking. And you are right, it's a shame because Paul McGann would have made an excellent doctor.

PaulMcGannsMistress · 17/11/2013 11:23

"Well, you know what they say about small packages.."
"Yeah, they say that on my planet too"
delivered with a delicious grin. One of my favourites.(Am I giving the impression I've seen it more than once? Ahem...)

ItsBiggerOnTheInside · 17/11/2013 11:47

I'll never forget how terrified I was of the Autons as a child!
Here is the original lead Auton with lots of great anecdotes, and a special offer on Autographs. Great for an unusual Christmas present for a discerning Who fan

Davros · 17/11/2013 20:16

Who was that plonker who presented the Monsters countdown? I could't watch it he was such a twat!

Oldandcobwebby · 17/11/2013 20:20

I had to Google the twat. Joel Dommett is apparently a stand up comedian. I suspect that "prick" would be a better description.

PaulMcGannsMistress · 17/11/2013 20:24

Why do they get these twats to do this. How hard would it be to get an old companion or at least someone who's been in it to do it?

ItsBiggerOnTheInside · 17/11/2013 20:29

It's cheap Sad

OhYouBadBadKaleds · 17/11/2013 20:30

He was awful.

Currently watching the last episode of the two doctors. Dd is willing shockeye on as he salivates over Peri!

Well done Nancy!
I think you'd feel silly if you didn't dress up.

Davros · 17/11/2013 20:50

Oh my god, I should have bought that fez when I saw it when we were Halloween shopping. I hope they haven't run out or put the price up to £100. Glad I wasn't the only one who thought Monsters presenter was shite

OhYouBadBadKaleds · 17/11/2013 21:12

Number one monster is... Daleks

PaulMcGannsMistress · 17/11/2013 21:30

well there's a bloody surprise. Could have put money on it. What's the episode?

SnapespeareSong · 17/11/2013 21:31

I haven't really enjoyed a lot of the best of and compilation programmes this far. They've seemed brash and annoying and lacking any subtlety... But I was Sally moved by John barrowman almost bursting into tears about how captain jack ad changed his life... And I was very struck by how un-lovey noel Clarke is. Top bloke.
