Aaaarrrgghhh this programme!

Had to really stop myself from feeling sorry for Walt when he was paying Mr Vaccuum guy to spend time with him. The way the writers make you feel for characters who have done horrendous things is incredible.

Loved that we didn't see Jesse do the hard part of escaping, actually lifting the barred door!

My heart almost stopped when we saw the masked men by Holly's crib.

There just feels like there's too much to wrap up in one final episode. I agree that we won't see Gretchen and her husband again. It was too clunky to reintroduce them again just to have Walt finish them off, much better that they are a plot device for him to do something else like be reenergised to reclaim his empire and all that he worked for.

4) Jesse & Walt will somehow make their peace

I can't see that happening. Jesse hated Walt before he knew Walt had watched Jane die and before Andrea's death, for which Walt is indirectly responsible - Walt has effectively played a part in the deaths of the two people Jesse loved. He was also close to Mike, directly and unnecessarily killed by Walt. And then there's the handing him over to Todd and co for torture, meth and death.

I think Walt will deal with the uncle's gang, leaving Jesse to deal with Walt, unless he dies from cancer first. Something will happen to Lydia, but will it be at the hands of Todd or Walt? If Walt finds out she's tried to eliminate the risk that is Skyler, Walt might orchestrate her end, witnessed by Todd, who might be forced to show some emotion.

Having said all that, who knows how it will end! The programme has always been good at not going down obvious routes.

anon2013 · 24/09/2013 09:51

I did feel sorry for Walt as I'm on his side. He gave himself up until the Nazi boys. The Grey Matter bit tipped him over the edge, Walt's gone he's just Heisenberg now

LesserSpottedNeckSnake · 24/09/2013 10:04

I just hope they stop torturing Jesse. He's the real victim in all this imo. Meth Damon needs a good killing.

AlannaPartridge · 24/09/2013 10:05

Yep, Fascile - really good points.

It's just that I think Walt will be desperate for Walt Jr not to spend the rest of his life believing he killed Hank - and the only person who can tell him that is Jesse.

Truce is a better word, maybe - perhaps because the Nazi's have Brock (and we don't know that yet) & Walt rescues him?

I'm stretching a bit, I know, but seriously.....fuck knows! Grin

Deep down, I think I'm sentimentally invested in the Jesse/Walt relationship and I want it to all be OK in the end :(

GatoradeMeBitch · 24/09/2013 13:03

PitMountain The majority of the characters in BB have been just as ruthless and mercenary, it's been a bit of a theme!

I wouldn't mind of Lydia got shot, but I would absolutely hate anything like a rape scene, it would make me switch off, and that's the last thing I want to do when such an amazing show is ending.

tobiasfunke · 24/09/2013 13:50

I don't think the Nazis have Brock. They don't need him. All they need is for Jesse to realise that they will go and kill the poor boy any time he tries to run off again.

I like the Elliott and Gretchen bit as that is basically where all Walt's anger and resentment has always come from. One bad decision he made years ago. And as far as I know we still don't know why he walked away from Gretchen. Maybe we will find out.

Patchouli · 24/09/2013 14:29

Saying about the Gus actor: I think it's a tribute to the writing of BB when you see the others in things like 'Revolution' (Gus) and 'Under the Dome' (Hank) and their performances don't even come close to what they can do with a great script.

Screenbid is auctioning off props from the show, including the hazmat suits, the cars, and even Tuco's grill! screenbid.auctionserver.net/view-auctions/catalog/id/6/?page=1&items=100

anon2013 · 24/09/2013 17:54

Yeah I've noticed that Dean Norris's (Hank) character in Under The Dome isn't as good.

TotemPole · 24/09/2013 18:02

AlannaPartridge, I agree, I was thinking how good he was as I watched this episode. He's so polite and yet sinister. And when he pulled the(I assume) piece of fluff off Lydia's jacket in the diner, that was creepy.

sooperdooper · 24/09/2013 22:53

Lydia is the one character I think is really poorly written and not believable, Gus would never have trusted someone so flakey

I think Walt will go back to kill the meth Nazis, but won't know Jesse is being kept hostage there, and so in the end poor Jesse is left trapped and we never know

The gang don't have Brock, they just want Jesse to know they will go back and kill him if he tries anything again

Poor Jesse :(

AlannaPartridge · 24/09/2013 23:24

No, I don't think the gang have Brock either - but I am so convinced that it'll be Jesse who tells Walt Jr that Walt pleaded for Hank's life and for this to happen there has to be something that Walt does that causes a bit of a thaw between them. Saving Brock is all I can think of. Jesse certainly can't be bought with money & I don't think he cares enough about his own life.

Grin
Patchouli · 24/09/2013 23:36

Oh sooperdooper, I hope it doesn't happen like that.

OP posts:
SideshoBob · 25/09/2013 02:08

I'm not really sure Jesse would ever thaw to Walt regardless of what he does now. Let's not forget he's only in this situation because of Walt, and the Nazi's wouldn't even have known about Andrea had Walt not used her to try and lure Jesse out in the open.

BOF · 25/09/2013 02:40

If anybody also watches the camp nonsense that is Downton Abbey, you'll enjoy Wink.

Cooroo · 25/09/2013 06:30

Nice link BOF - could have done without shrieking audience though!

Patchouli · 29/09/2013 20:39

I'm almost dreading watching it tomorrow.

OP posts:
MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges · 29/09/2013 20:41

I think that at the end we'll discover none of it was real and it was all just a plot to get Jesse to learn chemistry.

LivingIsEasyWithEyesClosed · 30/09/2013 10:40

just watched the last episode.

I'm gutted it's finished!

wintertimeisfun · 30/09/2013 11:11

OMFG fantastic final episode. everything was covered, one of the best bits for me was when lydia was told she was dying of ricin. so pleased jesse and walt (kind of) made peace. truly fantastic programme, will watch it again later, without the cushion to my face this time..

Elsiequadrille · 30/09/2013 12:51

It was just perfect and so well done.

I too liked the part where Walt spoke to Lydia about the ricin. I think it was obvious what he had done as it looked like he was going to do similar to her a season or so ago (I think).

BummyMummy77 · 30/09/2013 13:44

Wow. Loved it. Glad it wasn't a Sopranos ending.

GatoradeMeBitch · 30/09/2013 13:49

I loved it too, it was a happy ending in a funny way - the 'goodies' survived, the 'baddies' died, all loose ends tied up.

I hope Jesse appears in the Saul Goodman spin-off!

IfYouLoveSomebodyLetThemSleep · 30/09/2013 13:54

I loved it! Very clever of Walt to tie all the loose ends up like that, and I loved that last look between him and Jesse. I know it's not real but I'm worried about the future for Jesse, he has no money and the police are after him. I would have liked to have seen him escape with a trunkful of cash ideally.

Now that's over what on earth am I going to watch now?!
