It's squeaky bum time....

OP posts:
GameSetAndMatch · 18/07/2013 20:10

difficult. i was the same when i worked in an office. ei was a slow typist but at least i never made any typos (in those days!!Grin).

and i was slower cos id have to prrofread and correct the speed typists million typos but i was the office dunce nonetheless.

and anything that ever went wrong (even on days i wasnt in) the fingers would point to me!

but i DID have a Wine after! anti-deps dont work on me, i just have to try and cope so im free to have the odd drinky.

but i couldnt cope at work sometimes but was too embarrassed to say so!

ClayDavis · 18/07/2013 20:23

That's the stupid thing. I'm not particularly slow, and I make far fewer errors than everyone else. They get it returned to them to correct, I get 'can I have a word' followed by 'you're obviously not coping, I'd like to move you to something easier but can't so you'll have to work with a checker.' To add insult to injury the person checking my work has been in the job less than 2 weeks and I partly trained them.

I genuinely can't see why my mental health has anything to do with this. It was a lapse in concentration, everybody else is allowed one. Sorry, I'm turning into a right winger tonight and the fact that I do't seem to be able to stop myself from crying isn't really helping much.

Anyway, about your name change. How many options have you got for a name change?

siezethenight · 19/07/2013 08:28
Tennis What utter twonks clay Fuck (excuse the French) if every time I had a lapse in concentration and made a mess of something and I was accused of obviously being unable to cope then I would have been locked in a padded room years ago = it is almost insulting of them to do/say this to you. I sometimes think people in general are off their heads and the only sane ones around are those called insane (know they didn't go that far with you but really...) Huh. They do know its above 30 degrees outside and has been for a long time now, so hot and people are not sleeping therefore tired and lethargic therefore - mistakes happen? I hate how others blame a mental health issue for a mistake anybody could have made, its so belittling. And stupid of them. I am in your corner lady - lets line them up on the other side of a tennis net and pound the feckers with balls - lets get Marion to do it for us!! I hope you are okay today - do come and tell us. [TENNIS]
siezethenight · 19/07/2013 08:35

Oh - in my post rage on clay's behalf - forgot to say.... Dd and partner have got the house. This time it is definate. The chap sounds a very nice chap. His other tenant called him yesterday and told him what estate agent had done to them and he thought that was quite underhand and fairly vile considering Dd is heavily pregnant. So he called Dd. He told her that he for one understands that when on maternity leave money goes down, that after baby is born, child tax credits and child benefit are paid and he also knows that the majority of working people today have to claim housing benefit in part because the living wage and cost of living are so skiwiff. He is in the Army and has to also run a property rental business to survive so he gets it.
He apologised for estate agent (like its anything to do with him but he felt he had to) and told her that they can move in after this weekend and if he bought decorating stuff, they could decorate the house in their own time rather than him try to get it all done now while on leave for a few days and leave them waiting to move?
I am still waiting for contact from estate agent to get my cash back but at least they are now sorted out Smile

ClayDavis · 19/07/2013 09:55

Morning. Tennis

So glad they've got the house sorted out, seize. Sounds like they've found a great landlord so that should be a weight off their shoulders.

Am feeling much better today. Am going to write down a list of what I want to say and stick to it. Am beginning to wonder if I've lost perspective and am over reacting and perhaps it isn't as bad as I thought. Need a new job though I think. I definitely can't work under the pressure of having my mental health and how I'm coping every time I make a mistake.

BBMs · 19/07/2013 10:16

Aaaaaaaargh! I had written a long post and when I was going to send it... It went puff! And I have to start all over again :S

Sieze, I'm glad that your dd's housing situation has been resolved, it must have been awfully stressing!
Thank you for your condolences, it has been a very hard and tragic loss. He was only 22 and very much loved by all who knew him, also an only son! Was sad not to be able to go to his funeral :(

Glad to hear good things about sky, tbh I was sick of virgin... We still have the old Vbox and they were asking for £80to change it to the new model. When my dh called to cancel the contract the guy on the phone said he was very disappointed he was such a disloyal customer!!! I told my dh to put a complaint, that's not the way to talk to a client! Very much looking forward to having sky and all the sports channels to watch TennisGrin
Regarding the juicing, I'm not gonna lie... The first day I felt rubbish with all the withdrawal symptoms from sugar and caffeine. Second day, I could have killed someone for some toast! Also, I was very emotional and had a dull headache. Day 3 and 4, couldn't even stand myself! I was angry with the world and thought about stopping the juicing many times. Day 5 a bit better :) day 6, much better and actually not hating the green juice so much :) but then... Had to go to London for an open evening at the naturopathy college and being surrounded by the smell of all the restaurants in Victoria, was absolutely awful! The open evening finished at 9pm and by then I was hungry... My not so dh decided he needed to eat and in a weak moment we went to Byron for a burguer!!! Half of it was nice, the rest didn't taste so yummy and the after taste was horrid! I felt very unwell and heavy... We walked for nearly an hr on our way back to the train so I could digest it! Lol
That has taught me a huge lesson! This morning I was really really craving some nature's goodness!! Who would have said? Me craving raw vegetables! Amazing what the power of juicing can do for ones taste buds :) no more cheating with junk food for me :) I have already lost 3kgs in 6days!!

BBMs · 19/07/2013 10:22

Morning Clay, glad to hear you are feeling better. It's awful when anyone feels entitled to question your mental health or your coping mechanisms, even more when is work related having in mind we spent great part of our days stuck at our jobs!
I have never worked in an office, but i know it is really stressful being in an environment that you don't feel comfortable in.
Any chance you could start looking for another job? I know it's hard at the moment, but your wellbeing is more important in the long run.

ClayDavis · 19/07/2013 10:37

So sorry, BBMs. In my massive whinge fest last night I completely forgot to read the thread properly. Really sorry for your loss and that you couldn't get to the funeral.

Am going to start looking for another job. It's not ideal timing, I would have liked to have been much better and feeling more confident before I moved on. This incident is just one in a long string of shit going on at work and if it doesn't improve quickly I am going to end up as ill as I was 6-7 months ago and I really don't want that to happen.

BBMs · 19/07/2013 11:11

Thanks Clay, just trying to support my younger brother that is the most affected from my family.
Sometimes timing doesn't seem ideal but remember that everything happens for a reason... Even tho it's a crappy situation, maybe it's the last push you needed to go job hunting. I had to take a year off work coz I ended up mentally exhausted and emotionally weak when I finally left my last job... Don't let that happen to you, run fast while you can! :)

ClayDavis · 19/07/2013 12:16

I think half the problem is I've just come back from 6 months off. Thats why they're looking for problems. but I've had chronic recurrent depression for years. I know the signs. I'm the first person that's going to put my hands up if I think my health is affecting my ability to do my job.

Have spoken to my old boss and she'll have me back like a shot. Unfortunately its voluntary work so doesn't pay but at least if I lose my job I'll have something to do.

GameSetAndMatch · 19/07/2013 20:00

Clay you sound like you do really well, understanding your own limits and stuff. hug.
Smile

BBM - hug for you too.

anyone else need a hug today? Smile

GameSetAndMatch · 19/07/2013 20:01

seize glad housing sorted too.

siezethenight · 20/07/2013 09:43

[TENNIS]
Now don't shout at me clay but I read your post in my early morning haze (before the second mug of coffee) and thought you wrote that you had had chronic recruitment depression Grin I wandered over to the kettle for number 2 coffee wondering what the actual heck recruitment depression was - dear oh dear.
My Nan told me once, after I had a bout of depression - only the brightest minds get depression, look into the history books if you don't believe me and remember that you are borderline genius.
She was very biased toward me to be fair Smile but it did make me smile so I hope it did you. Genius - my arse... This was apparently because I am the only soul in family who can drive!!
I am sorry your work is a bugger right now and agree, it does no harm to look about at options while still in the job.

bbm Hope you are feeling a little better today and your younger brother is also.

game Its an entire whole month before we know your new user name - you are teasing us!

Where has raahh gone? Has she buggered off to Rl?

Dd's landlord arrived last night so she hot footed it to see house. Landlord is about 12.... He says he is 32 but he is 12, trust me. He has to be, no man of 32 has skin that smooth, clear and eyes so bright. He is a lovely man all the same and has taken the house off the market - it is Dd and partners. He has no time to decorate it, suppose the Army want him back to go off and do Army things so he is knocking cash off rent so they can go get paint and do as they wish but it only needs a little painting in reality, only the living room and a lime green bedroom!! Carpet on stairs and tiles/flooring all good in house. Garden is fab - he has laid grass seeds which are growing as well. It has parking.
Dd younger arrived home from Air Force Cadets last night entirely soaking wet - Army landlord likes the fact girls are Corporal and Officer in Air Force cadets, he would though Grin its a uniform and gun thing! They had a water bomb assault course last night because it was hot... The sergeant completely soaked her, she was dripping wet. She looked so happy Smile
[TENNIS]

ClayDavis · 20/07/2013 11:09

I wouldn't shout at you, seize. I reserve that for my boss Blush.

New landlord seems lovely. So much better to have one that's on your side. Sounds like they'll have plenty of space with a garden and everything. I could do with a water bomb assault course. it's stupidly hot down here.

Raahh · 20/07/2013 13:54

sieze- I'm still aroundGrinTennis, just lots of school stuff going on. And I'm wilting in the heatGrin

It would seem the China trip that the school are planning is going ahead, and the headteacher is very keen for ds to go. They are working very hard to get the prices down, and there have been some donations as well- so it looks like he might be going. There were only 8 kids who showed an interest in the end,so no-one who wanted to go will be left behind. So, I spent yesterday helping with the school fair, and helping ds's class with fund raising. Dh got roped into manning the bouncy castle- i think he regretted thatGrin

In tennis news(kind of) last night I dreamed I was watching Wimbledon, but it was a match between Sampras and someone ididn't recognise. Only Sampras morphed into George ClooneyConfused.

Idon't like Sampras or George Clooney, so I do not know what mysub-conscious is trying to tell meGrinTennis

ClayDavis · 20/07/2013 14:09

That's how it should be, Raah. If it's going to be that expensive, then they should be fundraising to help parents pay for it.

Raahh · 20/07/2013 14:41

Clay- I agree- and the children love finding money making ideas too. Ds is part of a'young entrepreneur' group, and went to an event at the town hall on Thursday. They've set up a car washing business, and have done really well so far. Ds ended up bring spokesman, because half the class got there later. He's very reliable, is ds. But I do sometimes worry he gets a bit used.

So, they did a bit of fundraising there- and he got to meet Ruth Badger (who was a runner up on the Apprentice, I think). The down side was, after spending 5 hours in a stuffy Town hall, he wasn't too well yesterday morning.

What has been really lovely about the fund raising, is the whole school are really behind the trip. One of the biggest donations came from a parent of one of the children in the nursery!

And dh has agreed to sell his signed Eric Cantona Manchester United shirt - which will be great. (it's been in the loft for 10 years, as I refuse to have it on my wall)Grin

siezethenight · 21/07/2013 07:06

China!? A school trip to China!? Well, how the world has changed - when I was in school we went to Tenby Grin
And it always rained.

Happy to hear the school is pitching in with costs and having fund raisers. I imagine the teacher(s) in charge of this trip are all but gagging to go really - I would be!
Eric Cantona - lol - men!
I hope you manage to raise all you need.

I painted my outside wall yesterday - it was dry within an hour - staggering heat effect. So I actually managed to paint my outside steps as well and no cats ran over them and got the paint all over the place due to the super fast drying effect of the sun!
I have morphed into a little old lady though - big, floppy straw hat, half a gallon of sunscream and complaints galore about, 'Oh its hot, when is the hose pipe ban??' It was like watching and hearing my Nan!

BBMs · 21/07/2013 09:55

Morning everyone! Another cloudy day in London... Yesterday we had mostly clouds and then a hot spell , but didn't last very long...
Thanks for the hug Games, always appreciated. I think it has been really tough for my brother to lose one of his best friends, he'll need time to adjust to life without him... They used to see each other nearly everyday and do lots of things together since they were very young (go to the gym, go running, play football, parties, play Xbox, etc...) that's how he became part of our lives too, he'll be missed... It's only been a week.

Trip to China? We were lucky if we could go to the swimming pool at the end of the year for a day! :) good luck with the fundraisers.
Sieze lol at the thought of you with a straw hat looking like your grandma... :) well done for all the things you achieved yesterday!

Yesterday I finally went with my dh to a rugby match of the team he helps organise... Oh dear! The guys were all nice and very welcoming but the girlfriends and wives... So bitchy! Bad vibe since I got there so I spent most of the time watching the game from the players box and had a really good time. Didn't even need to take out my book or my tablet to play angry birds as I had anticipated! Lol
Starting day 9 of our juice fast... Not hating the taste so much. Have discovered that if I put some ice in the bottle, tastes ok and sometimes even nice Grin I even managed not to crave or eat burgers and sausages from the BBQ yesterday at the match!! Kept on sipping water and juice :)

siezethenight · 22/07/2013 08:56

[Tennis]
Coughs under breath and points at raahh this thread is going to run out boss - are you making a purpose one for us saddos people who just can't let it go?

game Stuff the wives and girlfriends. Trying to bring football (low) values into the great game of Rugby. I will say this much for Charlotte Church - she may have been a girlfriend of a rugby player but she was the first at the bar with a pint and terrible language Grin so I heard.

So the Royal baby is on its way then? Dd is livid. She's stropping about the place like a big, well, waddling duck, going, 'Huh, its totally not fair. I can't cope with this heat and I just want you to come out now!' Shouted at belly.

Brace yourselves Tennis fans - I am going to a zumba class in half an hour. I am being dragged there against all my better judgement by younger dd and elder dd's friends. This is not on at all and why I agreed to it I have no idea.
Its in a church hall so no air conditioning - the thought of that is making me all hot and bothered never mind the actuality of it.
I suppose the upside is - its in a church hall, church right next door - if it all goes horribly wrong? I will get a blessing off vicar and hopefully that'll get me into Heaven!
Off to find my trainers, they have to be completely covered in dust, can not remember the last time I got them out of the wardrobe...

ClayDavis · 22/07/2013 11:18
Tennis

At this rate I think we'll have a while before this thread fills up. Hope the Zumba class goes well, seize.

Raahh · 22/07/2013 11:30
Tennis

look Crown - they nicked our ball to make way for the crown!

DD1 is very excited, bless her. it reminds me of the Royal Wedding- on the morning of it, she came downstairs wearing her Cinderella dress, and said' are we going now?' She really thought we were actually go to the weddingGrin

siezethenight · 22/07/2013 12:35

I have had to turn off the radio as Jeremy Vine has got women calling in sharing their birthing stories.
'Then the Doctor had to break my waters...'
'Ohhh, that sounds very dramatic...'
'Yes it was.'
Ey? Dramatic? Dear me.
Hurry up Kate. Please spare us from the women who feel they are the only ones to ever have given birth - to the point they have to ring up a bloody radio talk show and share it all with the world.
I am avoiding all news now for the rest of the day. That's it - On Royal Avoidance.
And to add insult to injury they do nick our Tennis raahh and give us a bloody Crown instead.
How very dare they.... Grin

Am absolutely fecked after that zumba class.

GlaikitFizzog · 22/07/2013 12:44

Jv is enough to make me turn off, you did we'll to getto the guests!

OP posts:
siezethenight · 22/07/2013 17:03

I have actually gone completely off Jeremy Vine glaik ever since last October he did this segment about what we will all do to keep warm in the winter? He had people calling in saying they could not afford to put heating on at all and they were looking at months of freezing cold and he would go, 'Wow! You are resilient! Anybody else going the whole winter without gas on? Call or text me, let's see if we can top this last caller.'
I just thought - you horrible little man. Its not a game, its people actually being very cold. Berk. It was a complete game to him.
It was on by accident this afternoon - I had been to a Zumba class and could not really move my legs or arms to go switch it off! I managed it though, soon as that woman came on dramatically announcing that after an entire, whole three hours, yes, three hours in labour, the doc broke her waters - dramatic to the max Grin Some people...
