As it says really - the old thread is nearly full, so here's a continuation for those of us watching on C4 on Sundays. Please, no spoilers - not even vague ones!

If you've watched the whole if season one already, there's a naughty corner another thread over there -->

Isn't bedside vigil bloke the priest?

themaltesecat · 08/07/2013 07:22

Hello all, may I join you?

Adore this show, but Mrs Costa is freaking me out. I've got a feeling she's the "evillest" or whatever.

ThreeBeeOneGee · 08/07/2013 07:53

It wasn't the same priest that we've seen counselling Adele. Different priest?

BlackAffronted · 08/07/2013 08:47

Wrent they lighting candles because the electric has gone? The power plant flooded and then all the power went.

Bedside vigil guy is a policeman. He has been in earlier episodes, I think he is there on official business rather than personal, police guard in case the killer comes back.

3 episodes left! They are titled Lucy, Adele and Le horde.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/07/2013 08:58

Bedside policeman bloke may be the author of the letter on other thread

Think Pierre meant that police won't let Simon leave tho tbh he could easily walk away as police aka Thomas seem a bit crap

Cameras everywhere apart from the tunnel of death - weird

LizTerrine · 08/07/2013 10:03

Le Horde? That sounds very sinister. Like animals, or a plague, or more traditional zombies!

Vigil guy was definitely a policeman.

Just not sure how Frederic could get the twins mixed up when they are certainly not identical?

Janek · 08/07/2013 10:47

I think they certainly were identical before one of them died and the other continued to age. But he didn't get them confused - he knew he was having naughty sex with lena when camille fancied him.

I wondered if simon would die now as he has come back, been told in no uncertain terms that he is not wanted and then shot again.

The revs seem to have little idea how they dies also. I think that's why simon looked confused when the daughter said he had chosen not to be withe them. Camille only realised she was dead when she saw lena had aged and wasn't victor unsure until mme costa clarified everything?

themaltesecat · 08/07/2013 10:47

They WERE identical, Clawdy- at least, they were supposed to be. I've never met a girl who had such a growth spurt in her mid-to-late teens, mind as Lena has, mind.

swooosh · 08/07/2013 11:05

All I can think about is this programme and what the bloody hell is gonna happen next Grin

OliviaYouCannotBSeriousMumsnet · 08/07/2013 11:33

Anyone notice that one of the children in Adele's class said that there might be goats under the water???

guineapiglet · 08/07/2013 12:13

I really do love this programme, love the way it is shot, the close ups, the hints, the clues. I thought all the children in Adele's class seemed really 'normal' to start with and then got increasingly more sinister!

It is also really insular, there are never any outsiders, no-one new seems to come, and no-one seems to leave, although I'm sure they do..... were the goats chased into the water by the black werewolf type beast hanging up in the first episode, and this is a manifestation of Serge?

Simon and Camille certainly seemed rather relaxed that they were dead....but, like I said earlier, I still reckon they are all returners from the first dam flooding all those years ago - I think this is a kind of purgatory. It looks like a very beautiful place to both live and die though, I love the houses and the setting. My husband seems to get bored about two thirds of the way through - I am absolutely glued to it. What with this and Luther, its a great TV week!!!

NoHank · 08/07/2013 13:06

Me, me, me Olivia. I was just coming on here to say the same thing.

I still don't think Julie is a returned, mainly because she doesn't seem to have the same appetite as the rest of them and her scars are still really visable as in the scars of someone who survived, not like Lucy's who's seem to be repairing/fading?

Also they don't seem to sleep and Julie's attack was 7 years ago wasn't it. I think she would have picked up on that by now if she hadn't slept for 7 years!

I also still think the animals were drowned in the original breaking dam, they just seem like they have only been dead around 12 hours because the water has preserved them somehow in that state.

Mrs Costa seems very... umm... knowing. I would say she had returned earlier as she seems quite open and blase about being dead but if so why did she not go back to Mr Costa's home until the same time as the others returned. So maybe not. Also, if Victor has been around since the coach crash where has been all this time? Why have they all turned up at the same time? Are they gatethering for some particular reason and all have to be in the same place at the same time? Maybe they are the cause of the water dropping in the dam and not a result of it? Maybe they are waiting for the old village to be revealed again for some reason???

AvonCallingBarksdale · 08/07/2013 13:15

Another brilliant episode, not as scary as the previous week's. I think Serge's character is really well done. Although we know he's the stomach-muching underpass guy, there's something about him that looks scared and vulnerable, esp when he was screaming for "maman" when Toni was burying him. 3 more eps to go!!

Clawdy · 08/07/2013 13:54

Identical? but even with the age gap their features are quite different (yes,I know that's because they're different actresses!)

MarmaladeNapkins · 08/07/2013 14:04

I have a suspicion that Mr Costa killed his wife in the first place which is why he was so horrified to see her returned and tried to kill her again in the fire. Apart from the mum of Serve and Toni, Mr Costa was the only elderly person we've seen so I'm wondering if he's seen it all before, what happens when the dead return and killed himself to avoid it.

As someone else said, I think the black wolf that came back to life (manifestation of Serve) is relevant. There was a dog eating Lucy's stomach at one point in the underpass. If the animals in the dam were running away from something, it could well have been a pack of wolves/dogs.

Chivetalking · 08/07/2013 15:55

I noticed the goats under the water comment!

Interesting theory about Lucy being dead and returning. I thought the healing might be a kind of transference between her and Lena who is getting worse.

I'm guessing Simon hasn't been killed this time because how could he be?

Interesting (significant?) that Victor's anger was powerful enough to black out the entire town when previously the dead 'uns have only caused a passing flickering also that yet another phantom attacker materialises around him.

BlackAffronted · 08/07/2013 16:45

Olivia, the goat comment made me laugh - I missed it first viewing but it was amusing 2nd viewing as I oviously knew what was coming!

I wonder if the animals were dead, drowned in the first flood then returned but drowned again, a sthey were obviously under water? If that even makes sense!

Clawdy, I am always startled at how alike Lena & Camille are, they got 2 very similar actresses I think. How difficult would it be to get 2 different aged actresses who were identical? I think using the same actress to play both Lena & Camiile at age 15 is enough to ptrove they were identical twins.

Marmalade, Mrs Costa died just after Victor, when Pierre, Serge, Toni etc were all alive, so they would have all seen it before too surely?

Chive, I thought the power went out because the power plant flooded.

flatmouse · 08/07/2013 17:16

OK i'm an episode behind and silly me read up to date on this thread thinking i was up to date. So i have lots of things to look out for when i watch it (maybe later).

Candle thing - when Camille was in bar with Frederick the other week during blackout and it appeared (at first) no one else there (until lights came back on) - 2 candles then too. (Four candles would have been funnier in a Two Ronnies kind of way!)

I too thought the power flickering/blackouts in previous episodes were due to the flooding of the power station.

MisguidedAngel · 08/07/2013 20:40

I thought at first it was a flash back when Thomas shot Simon. But now I think it was Julie "thinking it" - i.e. she has just found out from Thomas that he shot Simon originally, i.e. ten years ago. ??

susiedaisy · 08/07/2013 21:11

So did he actually shoot Simon ??

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/07/2013 21:27

I think Thomas killed Simon 10yrs ago

wintertimeisfun · 08/07/2013 22:37

i was trying to eat my supper but it kept focusing on the serial killer chap rubbing stuff into lena's back. the sound alone made me feel sick. i wasn't sure if he was going suddenly stuff his hand in her back as they would do in a horror film or start to eat the wound BOAK. simon is beautiful, reminds me vaguely of an ex from when i was 15 and madly in love, my first love :-) great stuff, i really like lucy as a character, mrs costa & victor are my favourites

missmakesstuff · 08/07/2013 23:36

I am loving this, nothing much new to add as watched tonight..I wonder who the balaclava'd attacker that Victor produced was? was he Pierre from years before, or the other bloke? How did Victor not know that Pierre tried to save him - it was clear he said 'he won't talk' just before the other guy shot him.
Mrs Costa is creepy - definitely knows what is going on, agree maybe Mr Costa killed her and then tried again.

What does the last episodes title mean? Les Horde? Hoards? as is , of Zombies?

I think Simon killed himself - Adele said 'I thought you had stopped thinking about it' so maybe he was depressed, then the pressure of a baby and wedding made him lose it and he killed himself - depression or something. Thomas just used it as an opportunity - he was one of the officers who came to the church to tell Adele. Plus the Priest know he killed himself and Thomas said there were several witnesses.

NoHank · 09/07/2013 08:04

I think it was mr Costa who was with pierre.

Talking to my dm and she said she thought Lucy was healing as she had been stabbed by someone who wasn't supposed to exist
