It's a bit soon for me to have an opinion yet, but it looks interesting enough that I'm recording it to watch later with DH...

bishboschone · 24/06/2013 14:29

Did Toni kill his brother ( serge?)

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 24/06/2013 14:33

Toni tried to kill Serge twice
Serge tried to kill Toni once

Do we need a spreadsheet for this?

Hullygully · 24/06/2013 14:35

Yes, why wasn't the dead animal in the bin mentioned?

I don't think Victor is Serge

I agree something weirdy about Mrs Costa or why did she have to be tied up, house burnt down to make sure she stayed dead?

Did she do something to Victor?

She is back.

Hullygully · 24/06/2013 14:36

when did Toni try to kill Serge?

I thought Serge killed their dad?

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 24/06/2013 14:36

Serge and Toni like to go hunting, or they used to.

Toni has kind of gone off the idea recently, presumably because he knows that everything he kills just comes back.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 24/06/2013 14:38

I think Tony killed Serge originally because he realised he was the Underpass Belly Scoffer. But Serge doesn't remember that bit. I suspect that bad things will happen to Tony. These returned dudes are baaaaad juju.

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 24/06/2013 14:38

I thought 7 years ago Toni killed Serge to put a stop to his stomach-eating ways.

Then, last week Toni hit him over the head with a shovel

Swiftly followed by Serge hitting Toni over the head with a shovel

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 24/06/2013 14:39

x-posted chickens At least we have something definite to agree on...

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 24/06/2013 14:41

Is Serge definitely the current Subway Killer? We only see a hooded man right?

My money's on Thomas, he is just so dodgy, plus he's going to try and fit Simon up.

teejwood · 24/06/2013 14:42

Having a quick catch up with the thread - loving so many of these theories and great spots!

Still think Victor sees Julie as his guardian angel, rather than him being hers iykwim? But I think he needs her because he doesn't have any family to go back to - and maybe his family home is under the water. Also don't think he is Serge but do think he made Julie have some sort of vision so she would overcome her fear of seeing Serge.

Have been thinking about the dam - maybe the undead need the undead village under the water rather than the new town? So they are flooding the new town somehow with water from the dam, thus reducing the water levels to uncover the old town. If the dead become undead then the flooded can become dry and the dry, flooded.

Also still think the essential message is about what those lucky enough to still be living do with their lives. Is marrying a man you don't really love or hanging out in bars all the time really making the most of your life? Julie seems to have shut love and social relationships out of her life when she is lucky to be alive and "should" be living. She shrouds herself in layers of clothes when once she had the confidence to don a catwoman outfit.

Re Lena's back - I agree it is quite literally a case of the emotional upheaval of dealing with the returnees (Camille) and being confronted with survivor's guilt, leading to the reopening of old wounds! Pretty sure those wounds were inflicted by daddy dearest...

Hullygully · 24/06/2013 14:45

terribly confused with teh whole serge toni thing.

especially as I see toni as a girl's name

ScrambledSmegs · 24/06/2013 14:49

Blondes when was it mentioned re: Mme Costa?

Serge is defo the Underpass Belly Scoffer (UBS). I love that term, I shall scatter it willy-nilly about this thread and its successors, and Confused le fuck out of toutes les posteurs. Btw, did anyone else notice the Serge/Lena stuff in the bar? He's interested in her. This BODES.

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 24/06/2013 14:51

Wasn't Julie trying to stab herself somehow in that vision?

I really don't get that.

I know the whole thing's weird, and French, and weirdly French, but so far most other things do tie up if you go along with a theory about homeopathic dams, or sexual mediums, but that vision... was all by itself...

ScrambledSmegs · 24/06/2013 14:53

I don't think the dam is homeopathic. The water feels malignant, not healing, IYKWIM.

VenusStarr · 24/06/2013 14:57

Fabulous! thank you OfficialSweetieMonitor holstenlips and BlackAffronted I shall come back later and review and might be watched episode one again! :)

bishboschone · 24/06/2013 14:58

I mean originally?

teejwood · 24/06/2013 15:01

bish - consensus on here is that toni put a stop to serge somehow, whether he killed him outright or helped him have an accident of some sort.

scrambled - know what you mean about the water being malignant, but the "memory of water" theme is interesting.

slug · 24/06/2013 15:01

I think Victor is a sort of medium in that people remember things when they are around him. This would explain the Julie and the scissors incident. Possibly

teejwood · 24/06/2013 15:02

Also agree re Serge's interest in Lena - watch out girlie!!

Hullygully · 24/06/2013 15:02

I think Victor is key. Somebloodyhow.

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/06/2013 15:03

It's a malignant Homeopathic Dam!

Do the French have the same understanding of "backstabbing" as we do? If not, the excellent Scar Theory doesn't work.

ScrambledSmegs · 24/06/2013 15:05

Oh, isthat what the Homeopathic Dam theory is all about? I was assuming you all meant that the water was somehow healing the past. No wonder I was confused.

Alright, I'm on Team Homeopathic Dam now Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 24/06/2013 15:06

Sort of a Homeo/Sociopathic Dam theory, then...

spiderlight · 24/06/2013 15:07

My DH is adamant it wasn't a vision with Julie and the hooded bloke in the hallway. He says Victor can shapeshift. Hmm
