It's a bit soon for me to have an opinion yet, but it looks interesting enough that I'm recording it to watch later with DH...

OP posts:

A few things I noticed ...

Does Victor carry out peoples wishes? Or just Julies? When Julie shouted throuh the door to Miss Payet "I wish you would just drop dead" his eyes lit up & then of course he went & killed her.

Did anyone else notice all the pink items scattered about? The last 2 eps have all been drab green/gray etc but I noticed a lot of bright pink last night. Especially in Claires kitchen - pink flowers, her pink washing up gloves, ornaments, a lamp all in bright pink. Same in Miss Payets flat before the camera pans to her dead body. Any significance or am I reading too much into it?

I would love to see a screen cap of Victors drawings ... one was definitely of Toni holding a shotgun!

holstenlips · 24/06/2013 09:02

In the first episode Jerome (camille and lenas dad) is at the bar says thank you to lucy and she says something along the lines of...well it cant work for everyone/everytime...
I need to watch all again today !!!!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 24/06/2013 09:11

holstenlips, I assumed that Jerome was shagging Lucy (or trying to) and couldn't manage it, hence the "well it can't work for everyone". Cos he and Claire have semi-separated since the accident, haven't they? Am loving this, although bit grossed out and rather confused!

ProfYaffle · 24/06/2013 09:14

I think Victor is the key to it all, he has a timeless quality. He was responsible for the coach crash wasn't he? He 'appeared' in front of the bus and it swerved. I also wonder if he's the killer and Serge is actually innocent - if a bit dead. Interesting that the killer soothed his victims as he stabbed them, like Victor with Julie. And Victor was soothing Julie at the end.

VenusStarr · 24/06/2013 09:47

I need to rewatch all 3. I am liking some of the theories on here, but not sure where it is all leading.

I had the same cat woman thought. Hope the nosey neighbour doesn't come back though! Definitely agree that Pierre is up to no good and a bit controlling and creepy.

What is Adele and Simon's daughter called? I got confused with the memorial yesterday and thought their daughter was also called Camille!

Also the guy who runs helping hands seems to be in the know somehow, not sure how yet.

I want to know more but at the same time am enjoying it so I don't want the series to finish quickly!

holstenlips · 24/06/2013 09:53

Avon I just watched the bit with jerome and lucy and yes it looks that way plus he paid her. Venus yes I thought adele and simons daughter was also camille..confusing !!

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 24/06/2013 09:59

ProfYaffle > Serge is actually innocent - if a bit dead Grin

Good point about both Serge and Victor being soothing. So, the murderer likes to eat parts of his victims. The Revenants also get hungry and eat a lot. Camille possibly ate the dead cat [ugh]

Weird things are also starting to happen to people who are not Revenants (as far as we know) eg. Lena's scar, Claire's bug-in-the-sink

If the Revenants come back dressed as they were when they died, Simon is wearing very odd shoes for his wedding...

And the French are so much more blase about the normal things teenagers get up to (smoking, having sex) We may have 15-year-olds doing that in this country, but its not portrayed on TV as being a normal adolescent thing.

Abra1d · 24/06/2013 10:13

I think that the non-revenants are actually the dead. I think the image at the start--of the upside-down lake, with the reflection at the top and the 'real' lake at the bottom, is the clue. The revenants are live people who've somehow come back into the world of the dead. But now the dam is emptying and the image is going to flip back the right way round, so that the revenants will seem more 'real' and the non-revenants more dead.

Adele & Simons daughter was taking part in what looked like a memorial to the children killed in the bus accident ... they were wearing tshirts & calling out their names. Adeles daughter was wearing a tshirt with Camiiles photo on it, hence why she shouted "Camille".

Pierre (Helpng Hands guy) seems to be neither a priest (there is another one, who was to marry Adele/Simon & read at Mr Costas funeral) nor a parent to a dead child. He seemed to preside over the "meetings" though ....

holstenlips · 24/06/2013 10:42

Oh yes occulty type stuff sounds good

AmandinePoulain · 24/06/2013 11:34

Pierre has the smuggest face I've ever seen Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/06/2013 11:56

Yes yes to occulty stuff, with Pierre as some sort of High Priest. Clearly, they are doing the raising of the dead stuff by means of Homeopathic Dam Water! (I may be going on about this a bit - I am not called Bore for nothing! Grin).

I still think Victor was originally Serge, who died as a child then revenanted and grew into Murdering Serge, who was then (as we know) killed by his brother and then revenanted again! So the Revenants multiply each time they are killed! Shock

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/06/2013 12:01

Ooh, and Revenanted Child Serge grew to become Murdering Serge because he had been revenanted! They develop an insatiable desire for human flesh. This is why he is nice to his victims, he is not murdering out of malice but because he has to!

Hullygully · 24/06/2013 12:03

I like your theory Adele.

I think all the cockroaches and blocked loos etc is because the dam is emptying.

How are Victor and killer linked?

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/06/2013 12:06

AND... this has all happened before in the original village, and it was covered up by the authorities by creating the dam and flooding the village, thus destroying (or so they thought) all the Revenants!

ILovePonyo · 24/06/2013 12:08

Love all these theories :)

Did Lena have sex with that same boy when she was off school sick whilst Camille was on the bus? Except maybe they did swap that day, so he recognised the scar and figured out that she is actually Camille and it was Lena who died?!

It was odd seeing Camille smoking, she looks so young.

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/06/2013 12:14

Yes MrsDevere you will indeed be QOT but...
IF Homeopathic Dam is involved...

I WILL BE EMPRESS!! Grin

That seems fair.

Hullygully · 24/06/2013 12:15

Ok Mrs D.

So, there was evil in that there village. It was flooded with the dam. Global warming/occult doings are making the waters recede and everyone is coming back?

I don't think the revenants can be the alive ones tho, why would the others if they were dead have aged and not the revenants?

The scar thing is weird.

It's very twin peaks.

Hullygully · 24/06/2013 12:15

I am very taken with the homeopathic dam.

Hullygully · 24/06/2013 12:17

Yes, it was Frederic she had sex with and then obvs kept away out of guilt once Camille came back.

What is creepy HH man about?

Hullygully · 24/06/2013 12:18

Why didn't that policewoman go and see Julie for seven years?

Bat/cat woman frankly weird.

Why do women keep walking thro spooky underpasses alone in the middle of the night?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 24/06/2013 12:19

I'm Bore's biggest fan

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/06/2013 12:20

Thank you Hully, I do feel it is one of my better theories.

I do so hope that it will have a proper ending, with explanations
