It's a bit soon for me to have an opinion yet, but it looks interesting enough that I'm recording it to watch later with DH...

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 18/06/2013 18:40

trailer

Bout 30secs in - I see the mirror and scar bit - hope that isn't spoiling it - though dumb blondes here doesn't actually know what it means lol

Spero · 18/06/2013 18:43

I have just found a much longer trailer at TV rage .com - 2 mins 42 instead of one minute for the other, but you probably shouldn't watch of you don't want too many spoilers, it seems to have clips from quite far ahead.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/06/2013 19:22

Spero - hmmmmm. Don't want to ruin it for myself so prob won't watch your trailer :)

Then again I'm a typical blonde and don't understand half the plot without explanations

Another great reason to be on this thread Grin

madhairday · 18/06/2013 19:23

Ah, I thought there would be a thread about this. I'm loving it, and being slightly creeped out at the same time.

dh and I reckon that an original village was submerged in the dam by accident and everyone/all the animals died, and that this village is either some kind of mirror of the past or a new one where some of the old stuff still happens/people come back. Makes no sense I know...

Loving it and hoping it doesn't become too Lost-esque.

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 18/06/2013 19:40

Oooh that's a new theory - a mirror to the past... is it an alternate universe?

Camille definitely seems to believe that she IS Camille (although that doesn't necessarily mean she actually is - maybe she's forgotten the twin-swap? No, impossible)

Is Simon wearing his wedding outfit?

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 18/06/2013 19:42

Sorry, that was a stupid question - we already know he died on his wedding day, because the gendarmes came to the church.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 18/06/2013 21:23

Just made the error of watching ep2 just before DH went off to play badminton. Am now in the house with two sleeping children, and am terrified!

madhairday · 18/06/2013 22:20

ooh yes possibly a parallel universe?

The mirror theory is because of all the reflectiony stuff going on - the reflection of non existent children in the titles, all the stuff under water, even the title writing is a kind of reflection thing...so is what is happening merely a reflection of something that did happen somehow?

AmandinePoulain · 18/06/2013 22:54

Completely off topic but are any of you using the iPhone app? Everytime I've tried this evening to open this thread it crashes Confused. Anyone else? (Other threads are fine)

dontblameme · 18/06/2013 22:55

I love this programme and this thread :)

I don't think Julie is a returnee because the police said it was 'attempted murder' seven years ago.

Looking forward to ep 3!

LauraPashley · 18/06/2013 23:02

Have just caught up on Sundays episode..re the barman (Toni?) and his serial killer brother (or son? I think brother)- I think barman killed his brother and mother because they were freaky stabbing returnees back then, ie they had died (naturally?) at some point before, came back once and did bad stabby things, now barman can't believe his bad luck that the brother has come back AGAIN!

Definitely think there is some twin swap thing going on, did the girls switch for the day on the day of the trip, to trick the boyfriend?

PacificDogwood · 18/06/2013 23:03

Ooooh, a parallel universe - I like that theory. A lot!

Like the state of subatomic articles - alive and not alive and in all states in between in different universes.
Or like Schrodinger's Cat Grin[watches too much Big Bang Theory]

missmakesstuff · 18/06/2013 23:11

I've just watched the second episode, saved from tues. I am hooked. Agree Víctor is the scary one. Like how they are all now connected in some way.
Really hope it doesnt go all lost, I just couldnt be bothered with it in the end.

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 18/06/2013 23:17

Would love to believe in the twin-swap, but too many facts against it (Camille going to bed in her own room, complaining about her stuff being moved)

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/06/2013 23:27

Can't cope with a parallel universe - watched fringe for think 5 series's and still didn't get the end Hmm

Don't think they swapped as she would have complained about Lena staying at home more on the school trip

Plus went into her bedroom

And got cross with dad when in the bath and he called her Lena

I did think that their mum was a wimp allowing Lena to stay at he when not really ill - Pierre (dad) said to send her

Course if they had then both their daughters would have died - maybe Lena feels guilty for

A) shagging camilles boy she liked
B) for being alive

Onetwo34 · 19/06/2013 01:56

Am I the only person who doesn't find Victor very scary? He seems quite amiable to me!

qazxc · 19/06/2013 08:27

how did Mr costa's wife/daughter pay for her chips? she looks like she died pre 1999 (according to clothes and costa's photos), how did she get her hands on some euros? Simon would have had some he died in 2002 (although he seemed to have spent the majority buying Lena a drink)

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 19/06/2013 09:26

i suppose that Simon took care of the bill when he took care of the barman?

ScrambledSmegs · 19/06/2013 10:51

Interesting how they've come back wearing the clothes they died in, not the clothes they were buried in. At least I assume that's the case, as something was said to Camille about her wearing a dress in her coffin, but she was wearing the same clothes as on the coach when she reappeared.

So maybe they are reflections/echoes, not reanimated?

We'll probably find out more about the physical aspects of the returnees if Lucy did actually die after the attack, and recovers.

Spero · 19/06/2013 11:25

They can't be evil if they like chips.

LizTerrine · 19/06/2013 18:37

They've also reappeared where they died, rather than where they were buried. Did they all die in the lake? as the levels fall, their 'reflections' are released back into the world. Which is really just variation 101 on the homeopathic dam theory :o.

Bumpotato · 19/06/2013 19:36

Marking place, I will return.

WinkyWinkola · 19/06/2013 19:42

I don't find Victor scary. I think he might be there to protect the living from The Returned. He's chosen the doctor to show her the way. Just my theory.

LizTerrine · 19/06/2013 21:32

How does that fit in with his appearance just before the bus crash though, Winky?

PacificDogwood · 19/06/2013 21:45

Oh no, Victor is certainly scary - maybe not evil, but spooky in spades

Why do we never hear/see anything about the other people who must have died on the coach that Camille was on? Did she get to return because she was more 'alive' than the others when she died because she was feeling her sister's organsam? Does the last question identify me as totally unhinged??

Confused
