It's a bit soon for me to have an opinion yet, but it looks interesting enough that I'm recording it to watch later with DH...

Oh, the Homeopathic Dam Theory has just absolutely Made My Day Grin - love it!!

Everybody's reactions to the Returned is so odd, they could well be dead. Or deadish. Hm. It's been done a few times though, hasn't it, the 'They are actually dead but they don't know it yet' thing. Sixth Sense, anyone?

Mr Costa as school teacher/headmaster is also a vair good idea.

And I don't think that Elephant's Breath is a dark green, tsk tsk. Know your Farrow&Ball, please, ladies.

The White Queen looks actually very tame in comparison - I think I am going to give that a miss.

MadameDefarge · 12/06/2013 21:33

they aren't dead in the village, they are just French tv/cinematic folk! They have a very particular way of interacting. Lots of Pintereque pauses, beautiful architecture, and especially svelte and trim mothers of several children, of a certain age. with great cheekbones. And haunted looks and all.

MadameDefarge · 12/06/2013 21:39

ie

did you fetch the car from the carriage?

No. It was too wet.

Its late. I must go

I have several patients to see...will you be home for dinner?

Yes. Always...Shall I bring the beef?

tbc

PacificDogwood · 12/06/2013 22:02

Madama, are you one of the actual writers of the show?? Shock[starstruck]

PacificDogwood · 12/06/2013 22:03

Hm, 'Madama', I quite like it, but sorry to have mangled your name, Madame

MadameDefarge · 12/06/2013 22:07

its only a first draft, Pacific!

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 12/06/2013 22:12

lol madame

MadameDefarge · 12/06/2013 22:17

my rewrite would substitute beef with naice ham. obviously.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 12/06/2013 22:17

or naice boeuf.

MadameDefarge · 12/06/2013 22:19

ooh! this is why collaborative writing works on tv!

naice boeuf! lovely!

MadameDefarge · 12/06/2013 22:58

Did I forget to mention the way they manage to underfill a cashmere sweater in a strangely sexual manner?

Abra1d · 13/06/2013 07:54

I sometimes think I have more fun on these threadsor as much funas I do watching the programme!

Hullygully · 13/06/2013 08:17

That's all I went on about through the whole programme - how thin that bloody blonde woman was...

So Quintessentially French

devilinside · 13/06/2013 09:26

Watched it again last night (still none the wiser) looking forward to Sunday

Spero · 13/06/2013 09:52

Madamdefarge PLEASE will you do a Gallic version of Eastenders?

wheredoistartmrs · 13/06/2013 09:59

the grave said 2002

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/06/2013 12:16

They died at different times but came back at same time - Simon died 7 years ago (from when series was made) camille and coach crash was 3yrs ago

qazxc · 13/06/2013 18:12

By the way they were talking i thought that Lucy was a medium but when i watched again he was putting his belt back on. Prostitution is legal in France, pimping isn't, so the guy at the bar wouldn't take money of her but would prob rent her a room at exorbitant price rather than taking his cut after each client.
Does anybody else think that Camille takes it rather in her stride that she has been dead for 3 years? Or wonder why Adele's hunky ex or the old bloke's wife do not seem to notice that their other halves have aged?

qazxc · 13/06/2013 18:14

Also they clean up the dialogue quite a bit. Lot more swearing in French. Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/06/2013 18:41

Camille doesn't know she's dead. She thinks she fell asleep on the mountain and then woke up - she thinks she has memory loss as cant rem how she got there

she doesn't reliese 3yrs has passed since everyone has seen her

I still think it was trying to get hold of THe dead /mediums in the pub rather then sex - as I said previously she said it doesn't always happen - ie the spirits not coming through - rather then him
Not getting hard and getting it up

PacificDogwood · 13/06/2013 19:53

It is a bit odd though - not realising something really, really strange is going on when 3 years have passed: things change in 3 years, non?

And grrrr at sensuesly empty cashmere jumpers - is there such a thing as a French woman with more than a 32B bust??

NishiNoUsagi · 13/06/2013 19:59

"By the way they were talking i thought that Lucy was a medium but when i watched again he was putting his belt back on."

Maybe she's a medium who gets messages from quivering bum hairs? Grin

Like dowsing, but with wiggling bum hairs rather than sticks..

It's really the only explanation that makes sense.

Rollergirl1 · 13/06/2013 20:47

Has anyone watched the trailer since seeing the first episode? I did today and there are a couple of scenes that allow you to piece the returnee with their respective person.

Don't want to say anything just yet as people might perceive as "spoilers" but have a look and see what you think...

Rollergirl1 · 13/06/2013 21:04

I have a bit of a way out theory that is totally not thought through at the moment. But did anyone notice that right at the beginning when the butterfly broke free, underneath where it was in the frame was the name of a person (I thought) rather than the name of the butterfly. So what if this first round of returnees are all linked with the name of that person/butterfly? Then as each butterfly comes to life so do more people?

Perhaps Mr Costa killed people and each butterfly represents each person he killed? And the photos that he burned are related somehow?

PacificDogwood · 13/06/2013 21:26

Oooooh, watching the trailer was quite a revelation - I had not seen it before. Yes, some spoilers, but I quite enjoyed them.

I think the name under the butterfly IS the butterfly's name though.... hm, not sure
