Watched it last night. Tis good, but disturbing. Gillian Anderson very good. Jamie Dornan scary. Anyone else see it?

She didn't ask her to empty the bin. Thought she came across them while going to put something else in there??

cocolepew · 21/05/2013 22:16

DH is watching a film, Shadowdancer, set in Belfast in the 90's. GA is a police chief in it. It's confusing him no end idiot

wigglesrock · 21/05/2013 22:18

Ah but the bin wouldn't have been emptied. She had "do not disturb" on the door Wink

wiggles Head/desk. You are so right.

cocolepew · 21/05/2013 22:33

Why was she sent to get stuff from the room though? GA said a few things, where would she be going if not back to the hotel?
Unless it was for changing at the station?

wigglesrock · 21/05/2013 22:44

I thought she was just getting her some shirts and toiletries, but I thought even having the condoms in the bin was a bit "now is this going to be important", put that with the text hunky dead man sent her, I think her career is gone. Of course I am a notorious overthinker not in real life just in other people's Grin

gazzalw · 22/05/2013 08:38

I think that GA is going to catch the serial killer but she will probably be professionally compromised/discredited (by association with guy with whom she had the ONS and possibly previous relationship with JL's police chief) and it may well be that the conviction doesn't stick.....?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 22/05/2013 09:20

I cant see why sleeping with a colleague would mean a conviction doesnt stick tbh.

Fiderer · 22/05/2013 09:37

I didn't get why GA need some things from the hotel, she's in Belfast & the Hilton is. It was more than a shirt as she told the policewoman to write a list. She doesn't strike me as the bunk down on a campbed in the office type.

I didn't see why the pw opened the bin. Could GA have told her to? If she wanted to remove the condoms/evidence of the ONS why not assume that housekeeping wouldn't do it? Even if she'd forgotten to remove the Do Not Disturb sign, who'd go through her bin? Can't think of any reason the pw would open a senior officer's bathroom bin.

gazzalw · 22/05/2013 10:12

I think that the 'relationships' in the drama are more tangled than it appears necessarily at the moment. Her ONS seems to have been tipping off a journo and there seems to be a whiff of corruption swirling around the investigations, so although it doesn't seem relevant at the moment, when push comes to shove these things could muddy the waters....

wannabedomesticgoddess · 22/05/2013 10:24

Perhaps the reason beardy boss doesnt want the murders linked is because the politician is telling him to clear his sons name, but if the murders get linked then the son will be in the frame for three instead of one.

gazzalw · 22/05/2013 10:50

I'm surprised, given that GA has linked the murders, that the politician's son (the husband of one of the serial killer's victims) isn't under surveillance.....

wannabedomesticgoddess · 22/05/2013 11:00

Maybe thats why the police officer was with them that evening. The whole monroe airlines thing. Maybe hes keeping an eye on the son.

But then GAs linking of the murders hasnt been accepted by anyone or been made official.

gazzalw · 22/05/2013 11:34

No true that there's been no official linking but if she's CIO (is that the right term?) would she not order for the husband-of-the-victim suspect to be kept under surveillance? Or does agreement for that have to come from the top cop (who won't approve it given that he's being pressurized to get the guy exonerated)....

wigglesrock · 22/05/2013 13:21

I think John Lynch (beardy cop) thinks that the estranged husband (creepy coke head) killed the first victim and doesn't want the murders linked as domesticgodess said. Ian McElhinney (gruff Policing Board boss) also thinks his son is guilty but obviously has something over the yummy John Lynch.

I'd be more concerned that GA told the constable not to worry re reporting herself, if GA doesn't inform someone quickly and then the investigating team realise that the constable left a message on answermachine while the solicitor was being killed - that plus the photo from recently deceased hunkster will be GAs undergoing or "Fall" Wink

My husband has just watched the 2 episodes, he thinks we're being unfair to the wife. He doesn't see anything "off" with her Hmm

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/05/2013 13:41

I don't think there's anything wrong with the wife either (am expecting her to slowly start putting two and two together - will she shop her husband?) but am wondering if little girl is supposed to have 'inherited' her father's evilness?

Must admit I'm loving this and have read that a second series has been commissioned Smile

Dancergirl · 22/05/2013 13:47

wigglesrock we didn't actually see the wording on the door card though...maybe it said 'please make up the room' Grin

wigglesrock · 22/05/2013 13:55

Dancergirl I'd like to think it said "I am having lots of sex with a very handsome man. Please go away" Smile

Dancergirl · 22/05/2013 13:57
Smile
wintera · 22/05/2013 15:23

The wife already spotted that the little girl's mobile thing over her bed was moving when he went out to murder Sarah. He'd obviously just been in there to get his creepy note book. If she keeps spotting the mobile moving then she may perhaps have a gander in there.

hollyisalovelyname · 22/05/2013 16:56

Wiggles do you really think John Lynch is good looking? Really?

OP posts:
BoreOfWhabylon · 22/05/2013 16:57

I would, holly Grin

wintera · 22/05/2013 17:04

John Lynch has been known to look very ruggedly handsome actually, he just doesn't really look it in this! He looks very much like Eric Cantona in this I think.

cocolepew · 22/05/2013 17:06

I couldn't, he looks too much like Gerry Adams for my liking.
He looked better in Merlin.
