It's nearly Game Of Thrones Day - the countdown starts here (with spoilers)

Just over 57 hours to go...

I really can't wait. In fact, I'm going to nc in a bit to honour the return of Tyrion, Robb, Jon Snow, Brienne and Arya.

Anyone else practically wetting themselves in excitment?

Well, a bastard has to be legitimised by royal decree in order to inherit.

Greyscale may or may not be important because if it's latent then Shireen is as unclean as Val makes her out to be and can pass it along.

And let's not forget, Euron and Victarion Greyjoy are floating about, the latter has the dragon horn and a red priest who taught him how to use it. Their sister is also still alive at last count, as well as Alysane Mormont.

Cee, as a bastard jon can't inherit anything. Stannis offers to legitimize him so he can take winterfell. The greyscale is lethal and contagious, so jon c and shireen are on borrowed time.

I'm so glad that patches isn't in the series. He scares the beejesus out of me. I can handle heads being lopped off, etc, but patchwork jokers? No ta!

Peachy, possibly. He and rickon both have dragonglass arrows, and bran's obsession with archery will be significant imo. So I'm sure he will fight the Others.

Jon could be legitamised depending on whose on the throne and if grey scale is contagious anyone who came into contact with her could have it, the possibilities are endless

I have spent all afternoon reading this and wiki-ing plotlines thanks to you lot :) I am only just starting the second book, but love a spoiler, so that's all good. Also have an unhealthy crush on both Robb and Jon, and also Charles Dance...

Trampy, I think Bran will be able to control the dragons through his ability to put his mind into animals and he wouldn't let anything bad happen to Jon if he could do something about it.

I also think Jon is R and L son. It's the promise me Ned bit when he is talking to Robert about Jon that clinches it for me. Although like someone else said knowing GRRM they may have had a child and it will be Sam or Hordor or maybe even Dany Shock
It was interesting to see how they brought Selmy in, I was wondering if they would try and disguise him for a bit.

Expat, Jon doesn't necessarily have to be a bastard if his parents were Rhaegar and Lyanna, because apparently Targaryens were not averse to polygamy so they might have gotten married sometime at that point.

Loving all the speculation! I'd hate to see Dany end up with the throne! She started out so well but becomes more annoying as the books go on. Would much prefer to see Jon but don't know if that's possible.

Would love to see Sansa getting the better of Cersei and appreciating her husband for his real character. So hard to say all without giving a million spoilers

Bajas, there are two times in the books where Sansa mentally refers to preferring to be with her husband than, well, the older one and the young one, IYKWIM!

expat I don't remember that part but am glad to hear it. I reckon the older and younger one would be hard going for anyone!

I must read the last 2 again to get everything clear in my head. Is there any word on the next book release that anyone knows of? I'm sure it can't take as long with the time pressure of the tv series now.

He only finished the last one in 2011 and it was lloooongg. He said it was hard to write, too.
