Just over 57 hours to go...

I really can't wait. In fact, I'm going to nc in a bit to honour the return of Tyrion, Robb, Jon Snow, Brienne and Arya.

Anyone else practically wetting themselves in excitment?

OP posts:
TrampyPants · 03/04/2013 14:40

Oh yes, I have no doubt that he is a bastard, but I'm sure that the other fella won't last. The dragons'll get him.

Jon is going to be crucial against the others. And I think that's because of his blood. Someone with both thge blood of the first men and the targaryans will bw pretty damn special. The three dragons riders will be tyrion or bran, jon and dany, imo.

There's a site somewhere that lists all the possibilities.

Sorry everyone, I get very involved.

Who else cringed at qyburn and hoped that talisa would just leave him there? Wink

expatinscotland · 03/04/2013 14:44

Okay, then, SPOILER ALERT!!!

ALL THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS STOP READING NOW!!!

STOP READING NOW!!

In the books, Rhaegar had a trueborn daughter, Rhaenys, and a son, Aegon, by his wife Elia of Dorne, both of whom were supposedly killed by Gregor Clegane.

BUT

Varys substituted the baby boy for the baby of an alcoholic tanner who traded his own son for a skin of Arbor gold wine.

The boy is brought up by the exiled lord Jon Connington and a small assortment of people.

He becomes a man and at the end of the books, is back on the way to claiming his birthright because the timing of his birth trumps Danaerhys' claim since she was born after him and he is the oldest surviving Targaryen.

expatinscotland · 03/04/2013 14:47

Varys says something telling, though, that he is one who seeks to rule because he feels it is his duty, not his right.

And he starts to act the part, IYKWIM.

TrampyPants · 03/04/2013 14:51

He's on his way to dany isn't he? I can't see someone introduced so late taking the throne. Esp since we have invested so much into dany. I think he will go the same way as (was it?) Quentyn.

EhricLovesTeamQhuay · 03/04/2013 14:55

Ooh expat that's interesting! I haven't read that far yet but it's not a huge spoiler. I reckon Jon and daenarys might get it on later which could kibosh the rhaegar/lyanna theory but then the targaryans are down with Inter familial shagging!

expatinscotland · 03/04/2013 14:56

'He's on his way to dany isn't he?'

Oh, no, Trampy. He's on his way to King's Landing. And he's no Quentyn.

peachyglow · 03/04/2013 14:57

I don't think Ned fathered a bastard, expat, wouldn't the 3 targaryen children sit on the 3 dragons, dany, aegon and Jon?

TrampyPants · 03/04/2013 15:01

Ah, yes 3 targaryans would make more sense. I just can't see aegon pushing dany aside. She won't stand for it. Plus, we've invested too much in her.

I've just had another thought but its an enormous spoiler

expatinscotland · 03/04/2013 15:01

Connington tells him to wait for his aunt, he doesn't see the point, he is the rightful king and he has the Golden Company. Conningston has the grey death, though.

Something else that might factor in is something Val points out about Stannis's daughter Shireen.

Shireen, of course, had the grey death/greyscale, as a baby. Jon tells her it is not always mortal in children, but Val points out that it is known to be a latent illness, apparently.

I think Penny is going to give the pale mare to the Second Sons and this is how Tyrion will either get himself sprung and get out of the notes he signed to them or die.

He also promised The Eyrie, which means he must know a means to secure it and it would tie in with his other . . . commitment :o.

expatinscotland · 03/04/2013 15:03

'I just can't see aegon pushing dany aside.'

He doesn't. He just says he's going ahead to King's Landing, especially because no one knows where Dany is at the time and it appears she might have her own khal again.

The other issue is that Victarion has the fecking dragon horn and Rhaegal and Viserion are at large.

expatinscotland · 03/04/2013 15:07

And Jon has to live to rule :o. He also has, in addition to several daggers in his back - literally, a rather large problem with another bastard Wink.

TrampyPants · 03/04/2013 15:08

I mean to take the iron throne. I believe that the end will see dany as queen of the 7 kingdoms. We have invested so much and she is the mother of the dragons. I can't see aegon as taking over from her.

peachyglow · 03/04/2013 15:10

I'm going to have to re-read the last 2 books, have forgotten so much. I would love dany to find some family as it's fortold that she won't have children of her own.

TrampyPants · 03/04/2013 15:11

Surely now jon is released from his vows too Grin so free to hook up, or at the very least, fight with dany.

I need the new book!!!

peachyglow · 03/04/2013 15:14

I would love her to be queen eventually trampy pants but I think she may have help from the other 2. I think the dragons may be the only way of stopping the white walkers!

expatinscotland · 03/04/2013 15:15

'I believe that the end will see dany as queen of the 7 kingdoms. We have invested so much and she is the mother of the dragons. I can't see aegon as taking over from her.'

Martin has a habit of killing off people he gets his readers very invested in, though :o. Or twisting things. And Targaryens marry one another. The other problem is that she is unable to bear living heirs - unless there's some way for Khal Drogo to come alive again.

The prophecy is for a beautiful young woman to replace Cersei, but it's hard to know which one it is because there are several candidates.

TheCeejOfWinterfell · 03/04/2013 15:15

I cringed at Qyburn Grin.

Please, please, please can someone explain to me the significance of Jon being a bastard? And why is the greyscale important?

Fuck, I galloped through the last book. I have obviously missed some important bits Blush

TrampyPants · 03/04/2013 15:15

I think sansa will end up finishing cersei.

expatinscotland · 03/04/2013 15:16

It appears Jon might be released from his vows, yes, to walk off with The Stranger :o.

TrampyPants · 03/04/2013 15:17

Maybe sansa marries aegon and dany decides that she doesn't want to be queen. After all, she has magic.

expatinscotland · 03/04/2013 15:18

Well, it appears Sansa is starting to wise up about a certain Lannister Wink, who would appear to be planning a visit to The Eyrie Wink.

TrampyPants · 03/04/2013 15:19

He'll be back! Wink

I understand all the other "shock" killings. They all had to happen for the progression of the book. Dany is too central, imo.

Shall we start a thread in fiction, I'm worried about spoiling it for others who are watching.

peachyglow · 03/04/2013 15:24

I think Bran will be very significant too, would his gift extend to dragons?
