Have started a new thread as the old one won't accept my message. So I'll repost it here:

Fuzz has form for being beyond thick. Remember the whole stape thing? Her character is just incredibly stupid. You'd think she would learn her lesson. Running away 'on a fishing boat' with £200 is like a story from a 16th century novel.

Re the abduction I think they were wrong. Lots of mums keeps kids from fathers for all manner of selfish reasons and abduction is not the answer. However I do think ty was desperate. But why won't he just let the court decide ffs. He's got loads of evidence. I'm getting to the point in this story where I'm actually ready to punch him myself! In fact have felt a tiny bit sorry for k when they stole ruby. Surely the writers can't have intended for this to happen? God knows. Im away next week so hopefully I'll miss the stupid court stuff and be back for some proper corrie storylines.

OP posts:

I was wondering if Gary and Tina would have an affair.

carabos · 30/03/2013 09:20

That Gary has a nasty possessive streak that we've seen before, so it wouldn't surprise me if he starts being controlling about Tina, seeing it as concern for the pregnancy. Tina is vulnerable to getting sucked in as Anna said she doesn't have any family.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 30/03/2013 09:24

Yes, it was a brilliantly done episode, keeping the suspence right up to the last minute. When Julie wasn't allowed to gatecrach the court, it was a real moment of suspense and in a way I was glad that a soap handled that realistically, with legal ramifications explained.

Natalie Gumeude certainly deserves a fantastic career out of this. She has played a multi layered and damaged character brilliantly.

I agree that they shouldn't drag out this Karl thing for too long. I nearly ran out of patience with the Tyrone Kirsty storyline and that took about four months from fake wedding to trial! I hope the writers don't take the piss again.

whatkungfuthat · 30/03/2013 09:26

2 things about Karl - this is all guessing, I don't know any spoilers:

Could Jason, bitter about being sidelined for the 'hero' Karl, get hold of video of the stripping event and see that there is a large portion of the event that Karl is missing from?

Surely he would have smelled a bit of smoke when he got back to the Bistro? He was standing at the top of the cellar stairs as the fire was taking hold so some smoke would have drifted upwards

CaramelLatte · 30/03/2013 09:30

There easy a scene when Karl got back to the bistro he was standing next to Paul who could clearly smell something..wonder if that will play a part. Really hope it does not drag on too long.

whatkungfuthat · 30/03/2013 09:33

Ah, I didn't spot that!

JulieCarp · 30/03/2013 10:19

I loved the Kirsty ending . I may have stood up punched the air and screamed YES !!Blush DH and the DCsHmm

Gingerdodger · 30/03/2013 10:46

Yes I remember Paul doing that with Karl.Surely he would have said something at the time once he realised there was a fire though - another case of selective memory to suit the scriptwriters.

Sue Johnstone is being chronically underused in my opinion. She's a proven actress (that scene in the Royle Family with just her and Nana just before she dies never fails to have me in tears) so why have her being a one dimensional Stella sidekick, who often seems to be there just to remind us how 'lovely' Stella is. I did love some of the scenes with her and Rita where she kept commenting on Rita's 'busy' outfits.

I wish the producer and writers would spend some time thinking about how they get back to character driven stories rather than plot driven ones.

JulieCarp · 30/03/2013 10:56

Totally agree Ginger Trouble is there has to be a "drama" .There has been too much with the fire, the trial,Ches n Katey.

Wonder whether someone is going to stumble across Karls clothes , they stink and hence work it out. I cant bear it if this one rumbles on as long as Kirsty/Tyrone did.

JulieCarp · 30/03/2013 11:02

Haha now Im going to have to watch it all again to see if Karl is wearing different clothes when he rescues Stella . Did he change ? I cant remember ? aaargh ! [bugrin]

LineRunner · 30/03/2013 11:45

Chesney and Katie. Who seriously cares? Why are the writers even bothering?

JulieCarp · 30/03/2013 12:05

So that Ches can do his misery face I suppose !
It was very odd .Kateey and Ryaaan - 2 snogs and a flirt ,discovered by Gary, an engagement and all over in 2 episodes Confused

Lighthousekeeping · 30/03/2013 13:20

Sue Johnston is an amazing actress. I just wished the writers would pull their socks up. Where's the midwife/radiographer/a and e nurse and his miserable girlfriend these days?

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 30/03/2013 13:20

I was hoping that the contrived split up between Ches and Katie is the start of an exit plan for Owen and his entire family. Gary gets together with Tina this causes Owen and Anna to split up and the entire Owen family move away. Please.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 30/03/2013 13:21

Marcus is busy looking after Asda and Aldi.

Crutchlow35 · 30/03/2013 13:27

Blimey, looking after ASDA is a big job!

Gingerdodger · 30/03/2013 15:47

Marcus mans the entire NHS single handedly (Dr Carter occasionally sees a patient in between stripping) so I am sure Asda and Aldi no problem.

LineRunner · 30/03/2013 16:14

Maria reckons that Lidl Asda and Lidl Aldi are no trouble at all.

JulieCarp · 30/03/2013 16:37

Whoknows I cant stand Owen - vile man. I cant believe Anna would go for him.

Please dont let Gary and Tina get together - bring Graham back !

lovelychops · 30/03/2013 17:01

Vile, vile Gary. He locked Izzy in room about a year ago, now he's ready to be a dad? Has he stopped mentioning Afghanistan every two seconds yet?
If Gary, Izzy, Anna and Faye could all leave that would be great.

I'm trying to brace myself for a world of pain with Dev's devastated 'acting' which is on the cards...

Sleepyfergus · 30/03/2013 17:13

Yes, I'm also dreading Dev's constipated wailing and lamenting of Sunita if/when she shuffles off. He's already cranking it up a notch in anticipation. I do hope she wakes up long enough to tell everyone it was Karl before she goes. Or maybe she could tap it out Morse code style?

Sue Johnston is great, but agree that she needs some better scripting. She's had some corker lines but very few and far between so far. And has anyone else noticed that Eva has toned down the tarty look?

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 30/03/2013 17:57

That's because all her make-up and hair products went up in flames with the pub. In fact they probably made the fire far worse than it would have been otherwise.

I quite like Eva. In fact I quite like Stella and Gloria too, but they could be much, much better with decent scripts. Eva's put down of Ches last night was good.

HeavenlyAmy · 30/03/2013 18:19

She was supportive of national cleavage day though!

crushedintherush · 30/03/2013 18:25

Juliecarp, I hate Owen too. I think he is a bully. And they never DID say how Katy/Izzy's mum died either, did they? Sorry, I know, but.....always felt there is something about him thats pretty dark.

whatkungfuthat · 30/03/2013 18:31

I don't think their mum died, she left. I wonder if she will reappear?
