TV show decisions that are just WRONG - I'll start with the West Wing.

There must be loads of these. I'm sure ER is not in fact a Bible to medical correctness (say it isn't so!).

The one that bugs me is the bit the West Wing where the President breaks out into Latin. It makes me cringe. It's bad, bad Latin (IMHO).

And also - of course - the fact Toby never gets a chance to clear his name. I love Richard Schiff for explaining he played it assuming Toby was covering for someone, which is great explanation of a frustrating storyline. But I never believed Bartlett (who seems to me so good at accepting people's different points of view) would have judged him so quickly.

Is there anything that bugs you massively? Either for being factually wrong or just not fitting your sense of the characters.

Grin Sorry, beertricks, feel free to revoke my feminist badge. Blush

I can't watch CSI type shows, the things they do with DNA are just not possible. Apparently it has led to juries expecting all sorts of "evidence" in real life trials that just doesn't exist.

Trills · 03/11/2012 19:07

Maybe that's the wrong kind of thing.

Spike in Buffy was best when he was evil but forced to work with them. Not when he was "good". He got boring.

thestringcheesemassacre · 03/11/2012 19:13

LRD I know the tension was gone. And tension had been such a massive part of the show. Even a brief handtouch was electric.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 03/11/2012 19:18

You and me both thestring! Grin

trills - oh, go on, tell us?

I always want to know if the things they say are possible, are possible. DH gets very fed up when the computer stuff is not up to scratch, but I don't know about the DNA. What do they usually get wrong?

Oh can I nominate Roseanne? Bloody brilliant show about the average American family then she wins the lottery, the cast of AbFab show up, then it turns out it was all a fantasy concocted by Roseanne to deal with Dan dying just after Darlene got married. Or something. I've got the boxsets of series 1-5 and cannot bring myself to watch any further on, as I was so disappointed the first time round.

First few series were ace though.

wintera · 03/11/2012 20:55

What about Bouncer's dream in Neighbours? Infamous!

Lost. All of it. Wouldn't know where to begin with the inconsistencies and loose ends all topped of with the shittiest of shit endings. I feel like suing JJ Abrahms for 5 seasons worth of my life back.

A lesson to TV bods to always know where your story is going before you commit it to film.

TitWillow · 03/11/2012 22:55

Just watched Green Wing special. Much happier! Thank you LRD.

UltraBOF · 03/11/2012 23:00

Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis should never have got together in Moonlighting.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 03/11/2012 23:05

Oh, yay! I'm so glad TW.

Oh god Joey and Rachel - a mistake.

Also Phoebe should have got back together with David - apparently the reason she dumped David in Barbados and got back with Mike was because Hank Azaria had committed to a film role.

Monica should have got back together with Magnum PI.

ALSO - wtf has happened to Homeland this series? It is completely implausible now. There is no way Carrie would have been let back into the CIA and also she would not have sabotaged things by going to the hotel room and playing her hand. I was OBSESSED with the first series and am Hmm at the second one.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 03/11/2012 23:12

And Aidan was ghastly in SATC. Wanker taking Carrie to that hovel in the woods (mind you, the way Carrie said squirrel, and screamed at said squirrel - I am not fan of hers either).

FatimaLovesBread · 03/11/2012 23:19

Agree with Ross not getting back with Rachel. The last few episodes were on today and I get mad at him wanting her to give up her dream job to stay in a dead end one in New York Angry

*Titzi Can't believe you've spent so long thinking that was the Green Wing ending. Love the special, v dark but Caroline definitely should be with Mac

I also get annoyed with miraculous evidence in CSI

JackThePumpkinKing · 03/11/2012 23:20

The bit in ER with Romano was a sort of joke though wasn't it? The first helicopter but was v shocking, the second one you could see coming a mile off and doesn't he say 'oh crap' just before it lands on him?

megcleary · 03/11/2012 23:25

On the West Wing for a little while I thought Toby leaked for the President with an implied consent so then he could send the shuttle up and then came down hard on him due to guilt. But have had wine and may need to watch the box set again to test he theory.

SinisterSal · 03/11/2012 23:30

Scrubs. Just totally creepy and hierarchy lovin ' beneath all the wide eyed kookiness.
Lost. Ffs.
Homeland. This series is upsetting me. Who the fuck answers a call from their wife while murdering their fellow terrorist in the woods?
And no way would brodie be the one to bring the tailor to the safe house. Get someone expendable to do it. That's what code words are for. No expert on terrorism, mind

wintera · 03/11/2012 23:36

Right - The Wire, I've only seen up to half way through season four but someone told me it jumps the shark in season five. Is this true? Cos I love The Wire so if it goes crap in season five, I don't want to bother with it! It will spoil it for me!

SinisterSal · 03/11/2012 23:37

And another thing - when a house is searched and the agent just opens a drawer, or unballs a pair of socks, or looks behind a jar of coffee and there's the drugs/ money /USB stick with allthe classified docs on it. Are any of you lit able to locate your keys so easily of a morning, never mind the stash that would cost you your life.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 03/11/2012 23:38

I know what you mean sinister, I shout at the telly like some special advisor on the CIA, and I know fuck all about it. But yes totally agree that there is now way that Brodie would have been the one to get the tailor.

The first series was so brilliant but this one is just regular schlock.

UltraBOF · 03/11/2012 23:40

I'm invested now though, GetOrf. And I love Claire Danes and Mandy Whatsit so much that I have to keep watching.

SinisterSal · 03/11/2012 23:40

I would hide the USB stick in the unknown drawer, hide it in plain sight as it were

SinisterSal · 03/11/2012 23:43

Unknown = junk drawer in post above.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 03/11/2012 23:45

i know. I absolutely love, worship and adore the look on mandy Patinkin's face. And I love Carrie. And Brodie and his beautiful hair. I was just so in awe of the first series, the second one is a bit of a let down.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 03/11/2012 23:46

I had to look Mandy up on Wiki because every time I saw his name on the credits I sang 'mandy; Barry manilow stylee. His name is Mandel.
