OP posts:
Sparklingblue · 15/12/2011 23:09

Brilliant! Just brilliant! I want to see more. Is there any more to come?

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 15/12/2011 23:11

yup

Sparklingblue · 15/12/2011 23:12

Oh sorry little tyga - hadn't seen your post. Do you know how soon before we see the next installment?

LittleTyga · 15/12/2011 23:18

I'll see if I can find out sparkling

LittleTyga · 15/12/2011 23:21

They're not telling us!

Sparklingblue · 15/12/2011 23:42

Late 2012, according to Metro. That's too long :-( I want to see it now!

tethersjinglebellend · 15/12/2011 23:49

Oh god, I love Shane Meadows.

He can make you feel like you've an elephant standing on your chest, laugh in the next scene and then sob like a baby.

Jellycat, Somers town is good but not his greatest work- A Room for Romeo Brass is superb, and Dead Man's Shoes is a (very dark) masterpiece.

mrsjay · 16/12/2011 08:40

wow hands up who sobbed !! ... it was brilliant really powerful the overdose scene had me mouth open , They had to get back together , poor woody bless him he is so lovely ,

lovelychops · 16/12/2011 09:08

Loved it !!

I felt like I held my breath the whole time Lol was having her stomach pumped and all the flashbacks. I was crying like a baby! Then Woody at the end making Lol laugh, was brilliant. Really, really enjoyed it.

I read on twitter that TIE 90 hasn't been written yet, but they've been given the green light for it.

lovelychops · 16/12/2011 09:10

LittleTyga didn't know that about the Ken Boothe song, it's one of my favourites too. Always great music in TIE

valiumredhead · 16/12/2011 10:22

I ended up watching it last last night once I had got home.

I was ever so slightly disappointed but find it hard to describe why. I was expecting something a bit more tbh....

And that stupid bloody nurse, well I just wanted to deck her! WHY hadn't she reffered Lol to the GP ffs?! All the praying is no good when you need medication!

The only scene which really got to me was the church scene, urghhhhhh Mick makes me shudder every time!

And Woody was REALLY annoying me, he was just like an whinging old man especially in that fight scene - he was definitely harder and edgier in the film ( I need to re watch so I can compare!)

I would've kicked him out if he'd visited me and started blubbling after I had just OD'd!

Can't wait for the film tonight Grin

LittleTyga · 16/12/2011 10:22

It gives the song a whole new meaning doesn't it? 'I would give everything I own - Just to have you here again' - sob!

Can't wait for '90 - all about the rave scene - brilliant!

paulapantsdown · 16/12/2011 11:56

I can't stop thinking about it today. I think the writing is almost perfect, and VM has to be one of the best actors of her generation.

The line "I think I'm a bit poorly" to the nurse, when she was clearly feeling such intense anquish was sort of breathtaking. I sobbed for her.

valiumredhead · 16/12/2011 12:02

She said it too Woody as well paula - made me have a lump in my throat both times.

valiumredhead · 16/12/2011 12:54

to not too!

LEttletownofBOFlehem · 16/12/2011 13:03

I'm so glad I saw this thread this morning- I saw the film years ago but missed the first series, so didn't watch the recent one either. I started to watch it out of curiosity on my iPad on 4od, and I've just finished...I have ironed like a demon all the way through the laughter and tears, so it was a damn sight more useful than pratting about on here all morning! It was superb- I can't remember the last time I saw something that good, thank you Xmas Smile

mrsmilesaway · 16/12/2011 13:06

Have loved watching this.

I sobbed big messy tears at the fight scene it broke my heart, then I walked past the place it was filmed this morning and almost started again Xmas Blush.

Love them all.

valiumredhead · 16/12/2011 13:08

Where was it filmed? I thought it was in Manchester but I also read Nottingham.

mrsmilesaway · 16/12/2011 13:16

Various parts of Sheffield. The fight scene was filmed in the city centre.

mrsjay · 16/12/2011 14:13

mrsmilesaway ive a friend who lives in sheffield and shauns house is apparently on her dads estate he was mega chuffed apparently aww mustve been weird nearly crying in the street thismorning , I cried at the fight scene too .

valiumredhead woody had a breakdown of sorts i think and he said he had tried to kill himself he said so in the fight scene he was a bit wet in 86 too if you remember , but with the whole Lol having a little brown baby while he was thinking it was his really took all the fight out of him imo , shame you were dissapointed though , The nurse probably did refer LOL somewhere else but mind it was christmas eve she went to see her . and the nurse did knock on her door . I loved the nurse scene praying for her and perhaps her prayers were answered sending woody

whatkungfuthat · 16/12/2011 14:25

I found the bits with Woody straining against conforming with the new GF and promotion, and being desperately bright and cheerful, really uncomfortable to watch, it was heartbreaking. The whole thing was brilliantly written and acted.

mrsmilesaway · 16/12/2011 14:25

I think the housing scenes were filmed around Woodhouse and Lowedges.

My mum bumped into the guy who plays Woody at the beginning of this year and got her photo taken with him. Grin

mrsjay · 16/12/2011 14:35

mrsmilesaway aw thats lovely bet your mum was a happy girl , Friends dad was giving her step by step updates on the filming of TIE 86 they were around quite alot .

mrsjay · 16/12/2011 14:36

Oh and the actor who played woody was in emmerdale for a little while he was a dingle,

mrsmilesaway · 16/12/2011 14:40

I remember him in emmerdale Grin. My BIL looks and speaks just like him the dc used to call him Uncle Eli for a bit!

I can't wait for the next series.
