Didn't sound like VM was that thrilled with the way it had been filmed really did it?

mrsjay · 14/12/2011 13:07

no valium it didnt she sounded really frightened as you said

valiumredhead · 14/12/2011 13:11

It was the way she said "No one should go through that even if filming" or words to that effect. Ick.

paulapantsdown · 14/12/2011 13:21

I wonder did the actor who played her Dad find it as affecting as she clearly did?
I would have thought any normal man would find it hard to act that sort of brutality, especially as he did not hold back and they both came out of it with cuts and bruises.

valiumredhead · 14/12/2011 13:25

I seem to remember reading that he did which is a comfort.

fergoose · 14/12/2011 13:55

It just shows what an amazing actor the father is too - I utterly hate him.

lovelychops · 14/12/2011 14:00

totally agree fergoose it must of been terrible for him to film too.

Interesting interview. Makes me feel bit weird about Shane Medows putting her through that just to get the scene.

stressheaderic · 14/12/2011 21:40

Glad to see a thread here - I honestly think it is the best thing on TV, Shane Meadows is so talented and the entire cast are superb. It is the most well written drama I've ever watched, why can't more programming be this good?

That rape scene was the most powerful thing I have ever seen and stayed with me for a long time. Vicky McClure is tremendous.

EricNordmanfirandMistletoe · 14/12/2011 22:17

Oh Lol :( I just want to give her a big hug

ledkr · 14/12/2011 22:19

I am crying at her telling that nurse.Shane Meadows is a bloody genius.I love the way the nurse stayed the same but just a subtle hint of empathy which got stronger until the tears.I actually searched for this thread.

TwoIfBySea · 14/12/2011 22:30

Watched this for the first time today (am Sky+ing it), haven't seen the others but really enjoyed this.

So who was the man the girl with the baby kept seeing? Does anyone know if the previous series is going to be repeated?

I really laughed at the guy who kept talking - Woody. "Pushed you too hard!" God I remember those fashions and huge glasses!

fergoose · 14/12/2011 22:34

the man in the mirror is her father - I won't tell you the history - but you can watch the other episodes on Youtube. Harrowing, but brilliant.

EricNordmanfirandMistletoe · 14/12/2011 22:45

Last series is on 4od at the moment and the first installment is afilm.

Moln · 14/12/2011 23:19

goodtimecoming, kelly from misfits brother is in it - he's Harvey

not sure about the real life names though - either of them!

hackneybird · 15/12/2011 06:35

Have any of you seen the original film?

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 07:38

I didn't realise until about five to ten last night that it was on again - what a treat!

"I think I'm a bit poorly' - God my heart broke for Lol then Sad

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 07:38

Yes hackney

turnitup · 15/12/2011 08:34

Wow the scene with the nurse (with the added build up of the previous ep) was absolutely brilliant - so touching, I just sobbed

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 08:38

Yeah me too turn I was saying " FGS, get her to a doctor NOW!!" - dh looked at me and said ' It's only a telly programme you know' Blush

turnitup · 15/12/2011 08:41

I have to remind myself of that too, haha - The nurse was just so lovely and poor lol - I have a tear just thinking about it now!

turnitup · 15/12/2011 08:45

oh and the scene when lol visited compo too - that just about finished me off....... the really sad thing is I know hardly anyone in RL that actually watches this amazing brilliant program

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 08:49

Oh God yeah the prison scene was amazing 'sniff' Sad

How long would Compo do? We reckoned about he got about 15 years and would be out in about 7 for good behaviour as it wouldn't be premeditated murder.

I don't know anyone who watches it either - I think you have to have watched it from the beginning for it to make sense.

mrsjay · 15/12/2011 08:59

morning

wow what an episode i SOBBED couldnt help it poor Lol was it my tv or was the scene really quiet it was very intense and the nurses tear was just amazing such an intense scene wasnt it , and then the prison i was off again , Did jump atcreepy dead dad when he appeared at the corner of Lols eye . and i agree the writer is genius ,

lovelychops · 15/12/2011 09:29

Hello all.

Another one who was in tears with Lol and the nurse. So powerful. They both played it brilliantly. Thought the prison scene was touching, it's all so subtle isn't it? That's what I like about Shane Meddows - he credits the viewer with some intelligence. Liked the bit with Lol and her sister Kelly, again so subtle. The little details which go into it are extraordinary.

Don't know anyone who watches it either!

mrsjay · 15/12/2011 09:43

lovelychops thats the perfect word for it subtle even though its gripping its not over done , if that makes sense , we all watch it well except dd2 , but we watch it seperate , I dont feel comfy watching with dd1 shes almost 19 dunno why , dh has t plussed hes been working and i go to bed to watch it , and sob like , I dont think ive seen any other shane meadows things just TIE , whats his other films/programmes , that i can look out for ? I think VM is his muse ?
