The film is available to buy,was very harrowing also. Shane Meadows does shameless too,i love that as well. Was anyone on here in that era.I was and i remember the fashions and dressing like a boy and hanging around in peoples brown front rooms haha.

mrsjay · 15/12/2011 09:56

Doesnt paul abbot do shameless ? yes i dressed as aboy and hung about in brown livingrooms although my nana was exotic and had a green room

I had a whole colour range of fred perry poloshirts Blush

ledkr · 15/12/2011 10:07

Does he?Im clueless.
Did you have a harrington jacket too?And brogues.
At some point i was an ant and then a mod.Could never decide whether to be a boy-parker etc or girl-Boating blazer and a bob Grin

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 11:34

God yes I was a teen in the 80's and Smell's make up was very familiar! Grin

And the house where the party was SO 80's - we were crying laughing at all the wallpaper and borders Grin

I don't thin SM does Shameless.

Is the girl who Mick raped Lol's sister? The one with short hair, she came round and babysat while Lol went to the nurse. I didn't think she was.

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 15/12/2011 11:36

No, she is Lol's sister's friend. IIRC he didn't touch Lol's sister (Kel?).

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 11:38

Right, that makes sense. Have we seen the sister in this series yet?

ElaineReese · 15/12/2011 11:43

Having heard lots about how shocking it is, I have a bad feeling about little Lisa... anyone else?

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 11:51

No, but I did wonder if Lol doesn't get the help she need quick enough and accidently attacks/kills someone while she is having a Mick hallucination. It's certainly building up to something.

Woody is about to break out and explode - he's had enough of middle class suburbia Grin

chasingpaper · 15/12/2011 11:51

Yes I have seen the film funny thing was I switched it off half way through didn't get it! Have never done that with a film before... May watch it again soon now I'm watching the series.

Why did others omg at the opening scenes? Which bit?

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 11:54

The news in the opening scenes chas particularly of the starving people.

ElaineReese · 15/12/2011 11:55

The starving kids?

I heard on Front Row that in places it was harder to watch than 86, v harrowing etc - and Lisa seems the obvious way for that to be the case.

I do hope not.

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 11:55

Mind you I also said OMG at the size of the mobile phones!

chasingpaper · 15/12/2011 11:55

Oops sorry lots more posts since hackney asked if anybody had watched the film! Missed it last night so will have to 4OD it

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 11:56

Can't wait for tonight's episode.

chasingpaper · 15/12/2011 12:00

Haha at size of mobile phones. I still have mine from about 92 its the size of a small brick

Yy at the news, I wasn't properly watching it at the time, was flitting about doing stuff

chasingpaper · 15/12/2011 12:01

Will make sure I watch last nights today then so I watch tonight's to ought iygwim!

Anyone know when tie90 will be shown? Can't bloody wait for that one

chasingpaper · 15/12/2011 12:02

*tonights tonight

snuffaluffagus · 15/12/2011 12:10

Valium, yeah Kelly (the girl with the dark hair) is Lol's sister - the one she talked to/hugged when she left the café.

Last night's was amazing. I was crying when she was talking to the nurse AND when she visited combo.

chasingpaper · 15/12/2011 12:14

That's it I'm watching it now!

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 12:15

snuff Ah right - thanks!

ledkr · 15/12/2011 12:25

Oh no i did wonder about Lisa.Im out tonight so will have to avoid this thread in the morning before i watch it.Sm normally does save the big shocker till the end doesnt he? The rape in the last one and the attack in the film.

Poor Woody.Even i felt all nostalgic for my yoot Grin

lovelychops · 15/12/2011 13:11

mrsjay Shane Meddows has done a film called 'A Room For Romeo Brass' (which has got the people who play Lol and Milky in) And one called 'Dead Mans Shoes' which is AMAZING but a bit harsh.
There was also one about a boxing club I think called 24 7 ? Which I think had Bob Hoskins in. But I could be mistaken.
He also did one recently about a roadie for a band and the Artic Monkeys were in it, but I can't remember the title.

Anyway! I really really hope Lol and Woody meet up in tonight's episode. They're meant to be together! Xmas Sad

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 13:17

Nooooo Lol and Compo are meant to be together! Did you not see the love through the prison glass last night?

ElaineReese · 15/12/2011 13:22

Everyone stop saying 'Compo', I keep imagining the old fellow in a bobble hat! Grin

I dislike the way that Combo is being made into a sympathetic character actually. Oh yes, he used to do all that BNP stuff, but he's a lovely boy who loves his mum..... blerk.

fergoose · 15/12/2011 13:23

I was wondering about this - was Compo given false hope, does she only love him as a friend. I hope it doesn't all go wrong

I was thinking back to previous - do you remember the racism with Compo previously - was so brilliantly done but I had forgotten about it after the rape scene. Is all such difficult viewing but so compelling too. I hope vicky McClure gets another Bafta and I think Compo actor should have one too.
