Oh no. Just channel hopping and realised lovely Gareth Malone is doing his 'choir' thing again-and I have missed the first half. I didn't even know it was on. Sad

Fantastically well done marinemrs - it was wonderful. And to think the lovely Gareth was just up the road from me and I didn't know!

nametapes · 22/11/2011 16:32

i love gareth malone, he is so nice.

xxx

MarineMrs - . Is there anything we can do to campaign to get this released as a single????????

You must be soooo proud of yourselves.

. You even made my DH cry, you lovely lot!

pranma · 22/11/2011 16:40

Last night's programme was wonderful-very moving-but the bit that actually made me cry was the look on CJ's face when he saw his daddy and ran to him.
I hope the song is a Christmas No1.Sam has real natural talent.

NanaNina · 22/11/2011 17:07

Same here pranma - tearful at other bits too. And yes another vote for the lovely Gareth Malone here - what is it I wonder. He is always well mannered, and authentic somehow and so enthusiastic about what he is doing. Went all goose pimply when he sang last night. Mind I think he wears some strange things - shirts that are too tight and skinny little jumpers, but who cares, he's a lovely bloke.

Agree too about Sam - she brings tears to my eyes when she sings and hope it is a christmas NO.1 - should be.

Hardgoing · 22/11/2011 17:14

One of the nicest things I think about this programme has been the inclusion of the babies and children, just bringing them along to choir practice and putting them on a blanket, the lady who had a baby in her sling when they sang in the market. We hardly ever see 'ordinary' (actually, they are all very pretty and young) women on TV and even fewer just going about their business with babies attached and it made a refreshing change.

liger · 22/11/2011 17:16

Marinemrs ! So very impressed with the whole sereis, but last nights episode was phenomenal. Lots of blubbing from DH and I! You should all be very proud of yourselves for all you achieved in such a short space of time, and the bond you have created between you which shone through. Very emotional that you all have the recognition you deserve at last. As a mum whose DH is often away for weeks at a time for work, I take my hat off to you all.

FruStefanLindman · 22/11/2011 17:17

Oh, wow. How lovely to have one of the choir members here Marinesmrs.

Like others, up-thread, I've always wondered how many of the ladies of both choirs are MNers.

A 60-something male friend of ours (a father and grandfather, but with no military connections) suggested we should watch your series - he openly admitted to me it's made him blub from the word go.

You are all fantastic. Thanks

liger · 22/11/2011 17:19

P.s. Have seen Gareth and his family in the parks near where we live

Davros · 22/11/2011 18:13

Marvellous. Sam was great. I would download the single.

Fuzzywood · 22/11/2011 18:40

Another well done Marinemrs you were all amazing. Are you still singing together now? Do tell all the other ladies how fab we think you all are.

StoneBaby · 22/11/2011 19:01

I've been having damp eyes for the 3 episodes. Well done to all those women.

recall · 22/11/2011 19:05

Best thing I have watched on TV for ages, I cried my eyes out, the song is beautiful, so clear. Well done xx

LIZS · 22/11/2011 19:19

Missed last night's so will catch on iplayer. However just blubbed through the Big Performance 2 Blush. Was at least pleased to be able to tell dc that I am not old enough to be his mother but then ds wanted to know why I was googling him ... oops!

orienteerer · 22/11/2011 19:39

Marinemrs - you were all fantasticGrin.

orienteerer · 22/11/2011 19:41

Doing well on too.

vnmum · 22/11/2011 19:44

Just watched the first episode of this on iplayer and I had wet eyes at various points and full tears at the end. It is especially close to home as DH is due to deploy soon and I can fully relate to all the emotions the wives feel. It was so good to see everyone come together and support each other during the deployment through the friendships made by doing this.

Well done ladies Smile

dementedma · 22/11/2011 19:57

Gareth ROCKS!

ApuskiDusky · 22/11/2011 20:30

Loved this last night!

I've just read on Decca Records' website that the song will be released for digital download on the 5th December, and William Hill are offering odds of 10/1 for it to get the Christmas number 1.

MmeLindor. · 22/11/2011 20:44

Oh, how fab.

pot39 · 22/11/2011 20:46

Gareth Malone for PM.
He's amazing, empathizes with every group he works with and gets amazing results.
Have blubbed in every series, but this last was the most moving.
If he doesn't get knighted by his 13th birthday it's a crime.

pigletmania · 22/11/2011 20:47

He is great isen't he. He can teach me to sing anytime Wink. That choir brought tears to my eyes.

sphil · 22/11/2011 20:59

Pot36 Grin Can't add anything to what's been said apart from saying Dh and I loved this series too - and I thnkmit would be a great Christmas No 1.

orienteerer · 22/11/2011 21:14

And he won an Emmy Award last night in New York.

Sparklingbrook · 22/11/2011 21:16

Oh wow did he?
