Oh no. Just channel hopping and realised lovely Gareth Malone is doing his 'choir' thing again-and I have missed the first half. I didn't even know it was on. Sad

Don't think I've ever cried so much in my life!

Wow, Sam was amazing. Am in awe.

Sparklingbrook · 22/11/2011 21:28

I think Gareth would be good at sorting all sorts of stuff out-he's a great motivator. What do you think?

Jus catching up on Iplayer - I love CJ and LOVE the children singing alongside the "mums' choir"

He really seems to have "got" them and I love the way he picks out the shyer children to compliment them...

edam · 22/11/2011 22:34

I was blubbing watching this last night... MarinesMrs, if you are still reading, ruddy well done that woman and all the women involved. Gareth comes across as a lovely, lovely chap - hope that's real and not just TV fakery.

perarduaadinfinitum · 22/11/2011 22:42

From a fellow service wife well done MarinesMrs to you and all of the ladies. (Please pass on my best wishes to Sams mum too).

I think we saw the children going along to rehersals and performances because that is the reality for many service wives - you take them with you or you don't go! Family aren't generally near enough to help out on that regular a basis and you (I?) only call on friends to help when you really need to.

Fantastic job ladies and Gareth.

"If he doesn't get knighted by his 13th birthday it's a crime." LOVE this... Grin

really, really well done MarineMrs. i think you've done a great thing, personally and for your 'profession'.

AND GARETH WORE A KILT!

Camerondiazepam · 22/11/2011 23:49

Just watched it on replay and have sobbed and sobbed but in oh such a good way. Marinesmrs you should all be so so SO proud of your achievement and I sincerely hope you get Christmas no. 1 even if it means I have to pull over and have a good blart every time it comes on the car radio.

Brilliant stuff.

kipperandtiger · 23/11/2011 02:12

Oh no, I missed it too? Thanks for telling us it's on. I'd like Gareth Malone to teach at my kid's school. Or even teach me! Wonder if he'll give piano tutorials, could take those last few music exams I didn't get round to finishing. Great enthusiasm and so good at motivating kids and adults.

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 06:37

Chris Evans will be talking to Gareth on BB2 this morning.

Bucharest · 23/11/2011 06:54

Y'see, I'm even crying reading this thread.

We've done it haven't we? We've found our MN universally-loved-sleb? We've got a mascot!

Sparklingbrook · 23/11/2011 07:45

I need Gareth here at the moment. To motivate DSs and me to get ready for school.

I was half expecting someone to post something negative at some point like they didn't 'get' the Gareth love, and we were all a bit barmy. Glad they haven't and the admiration continues...........

I've got my shovel ready for anyone wh dares diss Gareth. Grin

fergoose · 23/11/2011 08:47

And it is going to be released as a single on 5th Dec :)

sieglinde · 23/11/2011 08:53

Ok, don't all kill me, but I actually know Gareth and his lovely, lovely wife and charming daughter in Real Life. He's really like that. He really is that nice. I see that he doesn't need defending here, and that even the haggiest hags seem powerless against him - good!

fergoose · 23/11/2011 08:55

It seems he is one of the very few people who nobody has a bad word to say about.

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 08:59

Sieglinde
There have been a few folk pop up to say that they know Gareth or have seen him around. Has he been cloned? Or is it just that he lives in London where a lot of MNetters live.

Marinesmrs · 23/11/2011 09:31

Well its official!!!! the single is out - or will be lol..... we went up to Air studios in London (who gave it us for free!!!) Saturday and recorded it...... will be out for digital Download on 5th December so buy buy buy lol......

We are all still together and singing away even though Gareth has now left us :( new song last night to learn and loads of performances in the local area coming up! The programme didnt show all of the kids which was disappointing.... but then again they had to cram 8 months worth of footage into 3 hours!!! But........... they may be doing a follow up show whoop!!!! So hopefully some of the unused footage will be shown. check out the press release by Decca

www.decca.com/articles/forces-wives-set-for-christmas-no-1-553

Thank you all - we honestly do appreciate everyones kind words..... and Sam even has new tattoos to celebrate lol

MrsHeffley · 23/11/2011 09:47

Haven't seen this show will look out for it.

I'm a (very old)forces child and just wanted to say I think you all do a great job supporting your husbands. My mother did it for many years and I know how hard it is generally let alone when you've got loved ones away in a war zone.Forces wives really don't get enough credit,I take my hat off to you all.

Bucharest · 23/11/2011 09:48
Marinesmrs · 23/11/2011 09:54

Must say Gareth has put up with some beeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppp from us all over the last 8 months..... lots of tear and tantrums lol..... hes the most patient being on the planet...... his whole family including his mum came to the recording - and they are all equally lovely!!!! Bucharest - thank you....... we need every download to beat mr cowell xx

abdabs · 23/11/2011 10:46

OOh me too ... he makes me cry with all his programmes....I love a man who's inspiring, cute and somehow attractive in a bow tie.

Bugsy2 · 23/11/2011 10:52

Marinemrs, you were all so fab. Whatever tears or tantrums you all had - they were worth it. Definitely be downloading. Your song is better & more meaningful than anything X-factor could churn out.
One of the most inspiring & moving programmes I've seen in a very long time.
They should do a Choir Christmas Special - would be great to hear you all again.
