Thought would start a thread for us lovers of walking dead and other zombie/horrors :)

about a family who relocate to LA to escape their troubled past and find their-selves in a haunted house

apparently there is a weird gimp suit in the attic Grin, something unspeakable in the basement, and unwanted guests both dead and alive

ok saddo alert.

Timeline: Tate was born in 1977 because he said he was six when his father left which we know was in 1983.

He reminded Adelaide at the ham and pineapple dinner in 1994 that Larry killed their brother, who was presumably Beau.

Don't know whether Beau or Adelaide was the eldest but I'm guessing that Beau's death would have been after Constance killed Hugo and Moira.

So Constance may have known what would happen to Beau's ghost. Maybe keeping him around in ghostly form was easier than in human form.

Not clear why Beau was still chained up in the attic of the house which was where Larry was living with his wife and daughters after Constance moved out, wasn't it? Or maybe they were living elsewhere and he was having an affair with Constance while she was still in the house and moved later.

Two to go for me. No spoilers please. If it's not worth all my nerdy efforts I'm going to be so cross Smile

AWimbaWay · 17/01/2012 21:48

I've not read the thread because I only watched the very first episode. I've been recording them ever since but never seem to get round to watching them.

So, my question is, is it worth watching or should I delete the 9 episodes waiting on my sky box to free up space?

Thanks Smile

limitedperiodonly · 17/01/2012 21:57

Noooo! You must watch it. It's good from the start but after 3-4 episodes it starts getting addictive.

limitedperiodonly · 17/01/2012 21:57

ps Don't read the thread. It will ruin it.

AWimbaWay · 18/01/2012 08:24

Thanks limited, I'll give it a go, and promise not to read this thread! Smile

MrsBradleyCooper · 21/01/2012 11:35

Just keeping in the loop as I'd been bumped off thethread! Smile

Halbanoo · 24/01/2012 08:39

Anyone else a bit :( weepy after last night's episode? Sad to think the series is over next week, too.

MrsBradleyCooper · 24/01/2012 16:17

Yes I was - I think it's gone in a direction that I never thought it would - I'm not sure I like it or not? I think it was pretty brutal too - definitely put me off having any more kids!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/01/2012 07:22

Got 3 episodes to watch as been in Austrialia so havnt read last few comments so will watch and comment :)

I've missed my gimp mask man recently lol

Does anyone watch Desperate Housewives - is Lynette's sister the actress who plays Billie-Dean in AHS?

Stilla · 25/01/2012 16:06

Yes - it is the same actress .
Bit sad that its coming to an end .

Jbck · 25/01/2012 19:21

Apologies if you haven't seen Monday's ep yet..............

Was the first baby stillborn or did the Dr just say it was to give it to his wife? And, did Constance not realise Violet was dead when the psychic was talking to her before Tate appeared? That is all thankyou Smile

MrsBradleyCooper · 26/01/2012 12:03

Do not read this if you don't want to know a minute spoiler....

Jbck - in the next episode you find out that the baby was alive for a few seconds before dying. So the baby is dead, but it was technically alive when born.

I too was confused about whether or not Constance knew Violet was dead - I thought not but I don't know. I'm veering towards thinking there's more to Constance than meets the eye.

Jbck · 26/01/2012 18:46

OOOOh MrsBC fabulous.

The psychic spoke ot Violet telepathically and I'm sure V said don't tell her referring to Constance but when all the birth thing happened then she would know. Don't think it has any bearing on anything but just wondered.

MyOhMyOh · 26/01/2012 20:43

God, I really enjoyed this series - has the last episode aired yet? Need to discuss!

MrsBradleyCooper · 26/01/2012 22:29

No last one airs on Monday - I too need to discuss!

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2012 13:31

god - just watched 3hrs worth of this - :) was good

though as on fringe, blondes is now confused - think i will have to read all the stuff about each eipsidoe to see if explain it much

so violet is dead

larry is alive - was sleeping with constance but burnt by tate at the bank

What did everyone think then?

MyOhMyOh · 31/01/2012 09:02

I thought it was quite nice that, in the end, they were brought together and were finally a happy family - even if it wasnt in the way I expected.

I liked how they decided to scare the new family for their own good so they wouldnt stay, but decided to go straight for disembowelling rather than just scare them a leeetle bit Grin

What did you think?

Halbanoo · 31/01/2012 09:48

I'm a wee bit disappointed by the finale, to be honest. I was expecting something a bit darker--although it had its moments. But then it went a bit feel-good "Beetlejuice" instead of something out of a true horror film.

There's still too many things left up in the air---Did the authorities find the other stinky dead bodies in the house? What was the point of Jessica Lange's big monologue at the hairdresser? What about Larry? Where's Constance's 4th kid?

MyOhMyOh · 31/01/2012 12:14

Don't think we'll get any answers - apparently the next series is based somewhere entirely different and with different characters.

I'm rubbish at remembering plot holes til someone else mentions them.

limitedperiodonly · 31/01/2012 12:33

I agree with Halbanoo. Having Vivien and Ben team up in a kind of comedy haunting was too Beetlejuicey for me too.

Thought it was quite funny that they were all standing around discussing the hot new couple while they were having sex on the island unit, though.

Too many things left up in the air for me too.

Can't believe you wouldn't smell the bodies of Violet and the pest controller.

Where did those flies go?

Don't believe the police would accept Constance's theory that Violet took the baby and scarpered.

Wouldn't there have been a post mortem on Vivien which would discover she'd had twins and a forceps delivery meaning they should be looking for another baby and whoever else was there?

Wouldn't there have been an inquest into her death and Ben's?

They'd have had an interesting time trying to get either body to a mortuary.

Where were the bodies disposed of? Wouldn't the police expect two funerals?

Wouldn't they trace Vivien's sister and other relations and question them about Violet's whereabouts at the very least?

Why didn't Hayden think of killing Constance to stop her taking the baby?

Where was Larry, dang it?

Still liked it though.

limitedperiodonly · 31/01/2012 12:45

I did like the fact there was an end to it, however holey. I'm fed up with series that end on cliffhangers trailing for the next series which often never comes like with FlashForward.

Deadwood ended properly didn't it? Though I still haven't watched the last season so please don't spoil it.

And with the Wire you could have stopped after each season - though why you'd want to, I don't know. You could have stopped watching 24 after each season too without too much questioning and sometimes I wonder why I didn't.

Nip/Tuck and Sex and the City limped to an end but at least they ended properly.

I wouldn't watch Heroes after the season 1 finale because it was so annoyingly and cynically open-ended. Desperate Housewives is annoying full stop.

MrsBradleyCooper · 31/01/2012 13:11

I agree it was lovely that the family ended up together - happy that Moira was with them too.

But I completely agree that there were sooooooo many plot holes, I am struggling to remember them all.

It is made worse for me that I had read a lot of interviews with Ryan Murphy on Wikia and he said things like "Ben has a connection with red hair, something from his past - we will find out a lot about Ben's past later in the show"

Erm, did we? No I thought not.

I did read on IMDB that after the Halloween episodes, he completely changed direction with the writing - perhaps that's why there was a really long break between the second Halloween episode and the next one - rewriting it all?

A lot of people on other forums are really pissed off that he has led everyone up the garden path....

MyOhMyOh · 31/01/2012 13:16

I never watched the end of Deadwood, but I loved it. DH told me it was cancelled mid-season so I assumed it wasnt a proper ending and never bothered.

Think you're right about it being Beetlejuicy, maybe that's whay I liked it!

I think the problem with this show is that it started too dark - it was genuinely disturbing and quite scary to begin with and maybe there was nowhere left for it to go on those terms?

I really did like Moira though. Was impressed that she references an early feminist book The Yellow Wallpaper, in passing. Not that I've read it myself, but it was mentioned in another book I read so that counts! Grin
