I've just seen a segment from the new series on The Culture Show, Brix and Lund are the only characters reprising their roles and there are less episodes than the first series, but according to Sofie Grabol it's on a higher level and more in depth! Cannot wait until next month!!!

There's a superb blog here which I enjoyed following during S1. The 'jumperwatch' section was particularly amusing. I think you'll enjoy, if you're a hardcore fan!

MelinaM · 20/11/2011 13:57

Lovely, thank you redroof, bookmarked and ready to comment!

Hi everyone, just finished ep1 and 2 and loving it all so far.
I also have my suspicions about blonde guy :)
Jens is just perfect! and thanks redroof really great blog
See you all next week

TarquinGyrfalcon · 20/11/2011 16:07

I've been outlining various theories to DH - he just laughed and said remember how many red herrings there were in series one.

I watched series one on DVD over 5 evenings - it was fantastic - having to wait a week between episodes is dreadful!

ImperialBlether · 20/11/2011 17:31

Well I sat there with my clipboard, making notes (hard when it's subtitles) and I wrote in capitals "I think Myg did it" and then blow me down, they went into his flat and there he was, hanging by his feet.

Teej, I had a dream about you last night! (A faceless dream.) You were trying to set up an incident room whiteboard based on series 1 and I kept saying, "No, this is different, this involves Afghanistan." And you said, "Well, what's the worst that can happen if we use the wrong whiteboard?" I was so frustrated and I shouted, "Then we'll never work out who did it!!" I woke up quite agitated!

MelinaM · 20/11/2011 17:45

Grin @ ""I think Myg did it" and then blow me down, they went into his flat and there he was, hanging by his feet."

Quickly popping in, though have only watched ep 1 so far.

Thoroughly enjoyed it though have to say that I won't be holding my breath for Thomas to disrobe a la Troels!

Don't like the red jumper, I'm afraid, but good to see Lund's as chatty as ever. Is it just me or did she have a really girly run when she went after the suspicious bloke in hoody near train track???

Looking forward to ep2 tomorrow night.....

Highlander · 20/11/2011 21:45

Clinical director or Raben's FIL.

I miss Mayer though.......... Sad

FayKnights · 21/11/2011 00:18

Imperial I thought the same thing about Myg!
I've just caught up on IPlayer and really enjoyed it, sorry to all you Meyer fans, but her new partner is rather delicious.

Funtimewincies · 21/11/2011 12:02

Finally watched the second episode last night .

Envy at Pomme's Danish ramp outing.

Missing Troels but Jens is rather nice Grin.

Blonde soldier = v. dodgy.
Jens' FIL definitely doing something to keep him committed. What does Jens know that means he can't be free Hmm? Did Myg find out too?
Brix has a thing for Lund, obviously.
Lund will not make her mum's wedding. Everyone will be Very Disappointed.

Red jumper not v. exciting but I might knit it anyway Grin.

doings · 21/11/2011 13:15

Loved the start to this series. Think anti-terrorist/muslim extremist angle a complete red herring. Everything pointing to a covert job done by army group like drug smuggling from Afganistan - but that's too obvious and no-one seems to have made any money out of the venture.

I don't think we've been given half the clues yet but anyway here's my list of who I think's going to get topped next Smile

  1. Father in law
  2. Army guy who bought loads of terrorist material
  3. Clinical director

just another week to go. . . sigh

doings · 21/11/2011 13:20

Oh, and I almsot forgot that reluctance by the new justice minster to take the post - that's significant. Think he has some sort of Nazi past. Maybe this thriller goes that far back. . . . .Hmm

carabos · 21/11/2011 14:12

I think Jens is in deep cover and isn't really a basket case. Sarah definitely won't make the wedding and didn't Mark grow up fast?

Funtimewincies · 21/11/2011 15:49

I reckon that the Justice Minister was supposed to be a puppet (so they chose an inexperienced person) but he'll not play.

redroof · 21/11/2011 16:54

Slightly off topic, but has anyone managed to pick up any Danish words? I?m normally good with languages, but I?m struggling with this one.
So far, my vocab consists of Tak, and Hej!
I?m ready for a challenge, so I?ve decided to try and learn a few key phrases which may, or may not crop up in the series. Thought I?d share whilst the thread's relatively quiet:

Bunden i vejret eller resten i håret! - Bottom?s up or the rest in your hair (only used with friends when very drunk)

Min luftpudedbåd er fyld med ål - My hovercraft is full of eels.

Hjælp! Min jumper er møl spist - Help! My jumper is moth eaten.

PommePoire · 21/11/2011 20:23

redroof Danish seems easier to understand when you see it written down. I've been to Denmark four or five times in the last three years and when you hear the Danes speaking, in real life as on The Killing it's very difficult to grasp any words at all. I love your phrases though! When your'e on the train they have a softly spoken ever so slightly sexy woman's voice announcing the station stops by name. The way they sound seems to bear little or no relation to the way the look written down.

PommePoire · 21/11/2011 20:42

Have re-read thread and seem to be alone in thinking the scene between Lund and her DM took place in a hotel room and the mother was asking 'why don't you come and stay' Has her DM moved in with new man Bjorn, do we think? Mark's birthday dinner scene, where poor Lund was so much on the fringes she was practically outside the door, definitely wasn't in her mum's old apartment (not least because someone cut all the wires to the landing lights in Series One.)

redroof · 21/11/2011 21:25

Tak Pomme. I agree pronunciation rather different from how you'd expect it. I visited Denmark a few years ago, and whilst eavesdropping, I thought quite a few words sounded English. (Whether they meant the same, I don't know!) Hoping to add a few more to my repertoire by the end of S2, however. Hurry up Saturday night!

icapturethecastle · 21/11/2011 22:05

Pomme - it did look different as you say possibly mother has moved in new man. I thought it looked more apartment like than hotel (only because I can't imagine Lund staying in such a lovely hotel!) Ahh - the cut wire thing was never really explained or did I miss something - remember reading blogs about it after it finished.

aloiseb · 21/11/2011 23:17

[big grin] at redroof: I have yamped one of your phrases through Google Translate and you may like to know that it really means "My luftpudedbåd s filled with eels".
This is IMHO quite superb and I am thinking of using it as a moniker. Tak voels. (sorry, that may be partially Dutch)

meanwhile on with the whiteboard!
-- I think it's possible that Myg did do it, isn't it? He wasn't dead at the time of murder no 1. If not, why would he be so keen to be posted to Helmand?

--how did Jens Raben use the shower outflow to get out? Don't really understand how you could use something that thick as a crowbar?Confused

--wouldn't anybody as tactless and irritating as Jens' guard find himself either murdered in his bed, or disciplined by his bosses, for winding up the prisoners?

--I like the new Justice Minister and his bouncing tennis balls. Don't like the other parties who are evidently more right wing than him - but is anyone else finding it really difficult to follow Danish post WW2 politics? They have such a different set of attitudes to Brits - who are relatively easy, just plain anti-Nazi.I wish his advisors would explain it a bit slower. Or something.

Funtimewincies · 22/11/2011 14:12

Some info here about occupation which I think is what they're referring to. As far as I understand, Denmark kept its own government but effectively under Nazi control.

HereKittyKitty · 22/11/2011 17:53

Feeling very smug at having seen the WHOLE of series 2 already courtesy of a Danish friend. Smile For me it started well and ended well but was not as brilliant in the middle.

The subtitles attached to the version I saw were truly shocking, are the BBC ones any good? If I recall, the subtitles get worse and worse as the series goes on!

moragbellingham · 22/11/2011 20:59

Thanks Funtime - I was wondering about that.

DH is obsessed with the colonel's basement - why is he so desperate to have it re-modelled for the boy? Think it may be a hangover from series 1!!!

PommePoire · 22/11/2011 22:32

HereKittyKitty some English friends, who live in Denmark, said the same about the subtitles on the version they watched, so they chose to abandon it until now the series is being shown on BBC4. Based on the first two episodes last weekend, they've said the subtitling is much better. Now, smugness aside - no spoilers in this thread, please!

aloiseb · 23/11/2011 00:33

morag I agree, v suspicious about basement. Wonder if i am paranoid though.
