I've just seen a segment from the new series on The Culture Show, Brix and Lund are the only characters reprising their roles and there are less episodes than the first series, but according to Sofie Grabol it's on a higher level and more in depth! Cannot wait until next month!!!

I love this like I haven't loved anything since Buffy, And I love Buffy so much that I am working the the complete box set for the third time with my 14 year old grandson. Xmas Grin

I was leaping about and hiding my eyes, shouting at the TV.

I am so glad that a woman who has a brain that she uses and is so tenacious is being seen as iconic. And Sofie Grabol is bloody lovely!

So how long until Series 3? Will content ourselves with Borgen until then.

Maybe we will all find The Killing DVDs in our stockings and relive the whole experience again.

Merry Christmas Xmas Smile

Deux · 18/12/2011 00:49

It's going to be too much, Meyer and Strange in one drama.

I feel flushed at the thought. Xmas Blush

sfxmum · 18/12/2011 00:55

I think Bilal took the view that it would further the cause of the anti fundamentalists I don't think he fully knew what had happened but in the end took the view of the government, that some things are justified when at war

About middle age, not only are they on screen they are allowed to have a full life, they look tired and normal, it is refreshing, the couples are all of similar ages, no series of older men with perky young things playing the wives.
so different from the soft lighting airbrushing usual fakery

sfxmum · 18/12/2011 00:56

links arms with Earthy Grin

teejwood · 18/12/2011 01:12

well hellllooooo everyone - fancy seeing you here Xmas Wink

in the words of Craig-Revell-Uphisownarse that was A-MAAAAZ-ING!!!!

nods smugly at other smug people who picked strange for the wrong'un.

i was so glad Lund went prepared for her showdown. amanita like you i was going "oh yeah, she's going to have been wearing a vest! oh yeah..."

the one thing that did concern me is that she was wearing a vest but what if he had shot her in the head Xmas Shock

i also love the consistency with TKI that the politician we've been rooting for goes bad at the end - power corrupts and all that!

sfxmum bilal did not do the killings - that was strange alright. bilal was instructed to delete the radio messages and now knows that not only civilians but also fellow soldiers were killed because of that cover up. the general had promised to take care of him, but ultimately left him high and dry. so he could not cope with the guilt or the shame so killed himself.

teejwood · 18/12/2011 01:14

also links arms with sfxmum and earthy re real women and older actors in general having the best parts in TKI and II

at the thought of strange and meyer in the same series

teejwood · 18/12/2011 01:25

and really they thought it was a better idea to leave that special forces agent running amok in Denmark killing people rather than just bang him up?? surely they could have hushed that up and just taken him down Xmas Hmm

also loved the way the other police were giving Lund a WIDE BERTH when she was coming down the steps at the end - like "oh no here comes the mad cop cop-killer!"

'tis neat when you think about it though, she was under suspicion of killing Meyer in TKI and then actually does kill Strange in TKII Xmas Grin

no-one will want to partner her now and that's if she's allowed anywhere near the police force after this one....

the twist with jens was good though - well, if you know what i mean. obviously what he did wasn't good i thought early on that jens remembering something would be key and that it would happen during some kind of showdown with Lund and the killer. i just wasn't quite ready for that reveal. he will know no peace and may just lose his mind again in an effort to forget his guilt. and in that way i feel sorry for louise and her son - they thought they were getting him back. if they do so, he will be a tormented shell of what he was.

dammit i just love the fact it's all so bittersweet. no happy endings. just good drama. and i love the mirror ending too - it started with a murder in the memorial park and ended that way too. bloody loving the mirror motif.

Xmas Grin
sfxmum · 18/12/2011 01:26

I get he did not do the killings just that he agreed to cover up. Poor misguided boy. Slightly miffed that weird blond guy was not more of a psycho. Grin

MelinaM · 18/12/2011 01:33

Hey teej twas absolutely fabulous!!!! I want more already!!!!

OP posts:
teejwood · 18/12/2011 01:37

sorry sfxmum for misunderstanding but would also say we did find sogaard was a psycho to a sufficient degree, no? what they were saying about him shoving things up soldiers' backsides?

mel completely agree

teejwood · 18/12/2011 01:42

right i'm off to whisper demandsforTKIandTKIIboxset sweet nothings in snoring sleeping DP's ears.

i also have a secret mission to undertake

my codename is tooth fairy. i have to go deep into enemy territory and replace a tooth for some cash without waking the guard. wish me luck

Xmas Wink
icapturethecastle · 18/12/2011 09:22

Excellent - I thought it had to be Strange but didn't want it to be. Re older Scandi men I liked the Colonel. Planning a trip to Denmark next year!

diddl · 18/12/2011 10:33

The Colonel reminded me of the guy who plays Karl in neighbours & the Karina actress reminded me of Clare Danes!

I really enjoyed it & wish I´d seen the first series.

Foxinsocks · 18/12/2011 12:50

Yes I love the fact that they are all a bit worn out and older like us

I wonder when series 3 will be out and about

Want to take the family there and drive/train over the bridge to Malmo from Copenhagen. Copenhagen's such a lovely city for a break.

DigOfTheChristmasTreeStump · 18/12/2011 15:14

Okay, I am confused.

If Strange was killing to cover his tracks, why did he link it all so obviously back to PerK (himself)?

Why did he kill the civilians? Pyscho or casualties of a tough war?

I understand he was PerK as he was deep undercover, but why did the government not just assassinate him?

Why did Thomas Buch abandon his principles in a nanosecond at the end?

Did Raben really kill the kid, or was Strange messing with him?

Why is the uber hot one the baddie?

LaVolcan · 18/12/2011 16:06

"Did Raben really kill the kid, or was Strange messing with him?"

I thought that was Strange messing with him, but we will never know now!

WowOoo · 18/12/2011 16:44

Dig, Think perhaps Raben did kill the child because he was crying at the end. Could have just been relief, I suppose.

That was so fantastic. Was utterly gutted that it was Strange. I was convinced it was too obvious for it to be him. Damn.

Not sure about your other Q's.
Buch seemed to have taken that new job. Had a guilty look on his face.

I feel duped for liking Strange so much. It's like he's betrayed me. The bastard! How could he? Grin

diddl · 18/12/2011 16:45

I think he had been undercover but not as PerK which linked back to Per K Müller, who had died before the family were killed.

I don´t think that he thought he could be linked to PerK.

WowOoo · 18/12/2011 16:51

For any of you who liked Thomas Buch, the actor Nicholas Bro is one of the main characters in a good, slightly creepy and a bit scary film called Murk.

Watched it a while ago and have only just looked at my Lovefilm history to find out what the heck it was called.

Melfish · 18/12/2011 16:56

Borgen's also got the chap who played Theis Birk Larsen in TK1- he's a bit of a cuddly Viking!

AmanitaMuscaria · 18/12/2011 17:28

I had no interest in Borgen, as the political intrigue has always interested me much less than the other stuff in TK, but hearing that three of TK cast will be in it does sound tempting...

I watched the two episodes again this morning (sober) and there are a few things that do niggle. I think Bilal kidnapping Louise and blowing himself up was over the top, tbh, and surely even a bullet proof vest wouldn't stop a bullet fired at point blank range from causing serious injury? Also, how did Strange know that Thomsen had a boat, where her jetty was, and find the time to go and booby trap not only her house, but the boat (through the woods) too?

Anyhow, they are minor niggles in a brilliant series - I just wish it had been 20 episodes like the first one.

Just looked at Borgen on IMDb, and clicked on Mikael Birkkjær (Strange), to find that he starred in a film in 2004 with none other than...

.........

Sofie Gråbøl!

And for all of us who wanted Strange and Lund to live happily ever after... we can indulge our fantasies that this is how they would have looked together. Xmas Wink

AmanitaMuscaria · 18/12/2011 17:33

Hahahahah!!! I just read the info about the film (2004) and it says

'Director Paprika Steen and screenwriter Kim Fupz Aakeson were in huge disagreements about the ending of the film. Steen wanted the husband (played by Michael Birkkjær) to caress his wife's (Sofie Gråbøl) face. Steen insisted that she needed it to make a happier ending. Aakeson stated that a gesture like that would ruin the story. Steen got her wish.

How prescient is that? Xmas Shock

ThatVikRinA22 · 18/12/2011 17:40
