Can't wait, I loved the first series of this, it gave me such nice happy feelings (and made me want cake). Cupcakes tomorrow :)

I remember their day time programme from 10+ years ago and watching it on my lunch breaks/ free periods from school ebb I should have been working on my a levels!

It's a great format.

I bought the first book and loved the recipes.

I didn't laugh at the dropped cake, I thought it was awful :(. Just the kind of thing I can imagine doing myself. I nearly cried .

Its so enjoyable. Paul Hollywood does it for me. Such a good programme with Mel & Sue - enjoy the history bit as it breaks up the programme.

Being set up outside in the marque gives it that lovely summer feel.

I watched it (loved the first series too)... But last night I was really surprised how many of them couldn't make a cupcake! I mean, why enter a baking competition if you can't even make a cupcake?

You do wonder how some of them got through the audition process, unless they are there for the purposes of the producers.

And, if I was in it this time, I would have worked my way through the cookery book that came out after the last one in preparation, and thus would have come across battenburg. Actually I did make that out of the book - it was HUGE.

Great first episode but agree I wasnt impressed with the cupcakes!!

Oh I love it. I love Mel and Sue especially. I loved that bit with Sue and the food historian, they looked like they were having a right larf.

I'm guessing some of them are on it more for their personalities as opposed to their baking.

Stripy Boden top woman was this year's Pink Whisk Ruth - amazing.

There were some really dreadful cupcakes, not to mention the weird flat/wonky Battenburgs, I don't know what some of them were thinking! I guess it's difficult when you're under pressure though, and things can go horribly wrong with an unfamiliar oven/equipment and maybe not quite the same ingredients you'd normally use at home.

Yes don't even get me started on the Battenburgs! They claimed 1000 people applied to be on series 2... The 988 people not selected must have been truly awful!
