Have a big box of tissues ready. I watched it yesterday and was weeping so loudly that DH came to see what was up, and couldn't believe I was so upset over a TV programme! SO sad, but really moving too. Funeral scene had me virtually wailing! (plus its not even the first time I've seen it!).

mosschops30 · 09/10/2011 21:36

Oh god i amdreading it
Dd is watching ER for the first time, i was pg with herwhen it started. She cried at the fax and says she is wearing black tomorrow in mourning for dr greene!

God, I LOVE it. It is such good television - and DH loves it too. Was in bits during Dr Green's last shift. I have seen it all before as well -and I KNOW it's not real. Wonderful stuff though.

Piggychunk · 10/10/2011 14:52

I was wailing too, it was a hard watch very very moving.

LifeOfKate · 10/10/2011 21:01

I did find the whole Rachel thing quite hard this time, I totally 'get' his worry and frustration with her now that I have kids (in particuolar a DD)...
So sad :(

mosschops30 · 11/10/2011 17:36

I watched it today and cried the rain, i dont think ive ever cried like that at tv or film.
It was proper sobbing, not just a tear and a sniffle.

Dd still hasnt watched

God it was amazing tv wasnt it!

TorianaTollywobbles · 11/10/2011 19:32

This is about the third time I have watched that episode and still cry buckets every time!

But there are two things which always bug me.

  1. Why is Rachel such a horrible stroppy cow to her poor dad who just wants to spend his last days with her... and
  2. Why don't any of the other ER staff cry at his funeral?
gettingalifenow · 11/10/2011 19:38

God, I forgot how much I love this show. My DDs are well into it and its their first time round - its great watching it all again.

Cried buckets at Mark's death, so beautifully put together with the music...

I keep annoying the DDs with my little unintentional spoliers tho - things like - 'look that's Neela's Michael!!' ' and 'Have Abby and Carter got it together yet', and 'Don't worry Kovak and Carter are great friends when they go to Africa'....

mosschops30 · 11/10/2011 20:39

Lol i do exactly the same dd hates Romano and i keep saying 'ooh just wait and see what happens to him'. Actually i think its this week isnt it?

Kerry was crying at the funeral wasnt she?

I want to slap rachel even now Angry

Its all going too fast season 9 starts tomorrow Shock

OP posts:
TorianaTollywobbles · 11/10/2011 20:54

Mosschops, I also want to slap Rachel!

THAT episode is the first episode of Season 9 which is on tomorrow, quite looking forward to seeing it again (in a morbid sort of way IYSWIM)

LifeOfKate · 11/10/2011 21:36

Is season 9 the one where carter and Kovak go to Africa?

chickflit · 11/10/2011 21:46

I've got loads of stuff on my Sky Plus but ER is the one thing I look forward to every day. It's so brilliant. I really sobbed the other day when I watched the Hawaii episode.

I'm so looking forward to the Romano episodes, every time I see him on screen I tell the DCs his fate.

I'm now looking forward to Archie arriving, he was so obnoxious when he first arrived but then by the end I loved him. I think he's season 10 though.

mosschops30 · 11/10/2011 22:28

Im dreading sam coming, god what a moany ass bitch she was! Worse than abbey, who i wished ended up with carter instead of awful thandie newton.
Also never understood all the male interest in Neela

I think the best episodes are gone now, although i watched til the end, nothing else really sticks out, oh maybe Pratts death, that was pretty bad.

OP posts:
chipstick10 · 12/10/2011 08:10

Im starting to loose interest now if im honest. The best has been and gone

gettingalifenow · 12/10/2011 10:41

Wow, is it really Romano's accident today!! better book my place on the sofa.....

mosschops do you really not like it from here? There's some great stuff - Kerry and Sandy (and all the heartbreak coming there), Pratts conversion into a decent human being, Kovak and Abby (again). But I can do without Archie and all those story lines. And the Africa bits are a bit preachy....

But on reflection, I think you're right - the golden years are over with the loss of Mark.... its not going to stop me watching it all again tho!

mosschops30 · 12/10/2011 11:42

I do like it and did watch until it ended, but i did think it was probably ready togo a couple of seasons before thst.
I think that mark, carol, doug, carter, benton, romano, jeanie etc were the best and the storylines were great.
I did love Pratt though (dd cant understand why at the moment)

OP posts:
LifeOfKate · 12/10/2011 12:04

Ah, not too many spoilers please, I've only seen up until season 10!

Am watching todays episode now, PMSL at all the posh doctor's accents at the beginning :o Romano's arm's just been cut off, I'm sure they've cut it a bit, I remember it being more gory than that...

LifeOfKate · 12/10/2011 12:09

I've just seen my favourite Romano line...

He comes round briefly and sees Anspaugh (sp?) talking to him, in a seriously pissed off tone, he says 'awww, I'm at County' :o

margerykemp · 12/10/2011 12:15

Im not a big dr greene fan tbh. He chose his job over his family when jen got the good job with the judge. She had supported him through med school so i think it was only fair for him to move for the sake of her career. He could have got another hospital job and she ended up earning more than him anyway. But no, he chose to effectively abandon his wife and daughter.

Then a few series later he discriminates against a black gunshot victim, in favour of a white gangbanger.

Then when ella almost dies from rachel's e pills he sides with the teenager over his innocent daughter.

I have all the season 1-10 box sets but my season 1 is missing the last disk so could someone please tell me what happened ( i know that susan's sister gives birth and carol dumps tag).

mosschops30 · 12/10/2011 12:20

Shock margery be gone from this thread, do not speak ill of the dead Grin

I loved mark, especially when he told people what he really thought. Loved the episode where he pretended to shock the guy in the lift but actuslly just let him die. I thought he was very human. I think what he did with rachel would have been a dilemma for most parents, what would you do, just cast out your teen? It just doesnt work like that

Smile
OP posts:
thefurryone · 12/10/2011 15:24

Isn't part of the reason we all love mark due to his flaws though.

I watched Hawaii yesterday, cried loads, I've always thought the interaction between him & Rachel at this stage Is very realistic, they do have sweet moments but at the same time the writers don't forget that she's a stroppy teenager.

I know what you mean about it all being downhill from here. Whilst I do enjoy later series, there is definitely a feeling that the golden days are over.

RedHotPokers · 12/10/2011 18:03

Just watched the Romano-arm episode today. I agree the best is over (can't beat the one where Doug saves the boy in the storm drain!), but I will carry on watching as Kovak is starting to grow on me again. There are some good bits to come.

Agree about Sam - tiresome - but I do love Neela and her love triangle.

LifeOfKate · 12/10/2011 19:28

Am I the only one for whom Kovak does nothing? I quite liked him when Carol was there but I'm not keen now. I'm Carter's girl Blush

mosschops30 · 12/10/2011 20:34

No i get you, i always prefered carter. Kovac was never my thing!
