Loving it! I can't wait to get a sneaky wee hour to myself every day to watch ER!

These early series are the best - I got bored with it latterly, and DD arrived so I had other ways to occupy my time!

Rocket Romano is GOD.

queenoffairies · 28/07/2011 19:41

Agreed - these earlier episodes are way better than the later ones.

I absolutely love this episode tonight - tis one of thoses where you cannot take your eyes off the screen even for a moment, and to see the relationships between the characters played out, is just amazing.

And yes, Rocket Romano is GodGrin

chipstick10 · 28/07/2011 19:42

One of those rare programmes where you really care about the characters. Lucy was so sweet.

ThatVikRinA22 · 28/07/2011 19:44

hiding thread!!! spoilers!

i watched it 20 years ago and then lost it somewhere, i dont know what the last season i watched was but.....id forgotten all these story lines, i tape it every day and i watch it when i get home from work.....i love it but i dont want to know what happens!

queenoffairies · 28/07/2011 19:56

chickflit - Dr Lewis comes back in series 8, so a few weeks yet.

iklboo · 28/07/2011 20:10

The episode with Ray Liotta was stunning. DH & I were watching it in bed crying our eyes out when it was first shown. Haven't got Sky Atlantic Envy

Valpollicella · 28/07/2011 23:13

The last series was a fitting end to it all LadyClarice.

Have tissues at the ready for the first episode.....

LittlePushka · 29/07/2011 00:03

One of my favourite stories is the softening of Dr Romano - especially after the helicopter incident. I was always deeply disappointed in Carters choice of wife/partner - she was so WET - mooning about all willowy, selfish and unreasonable.

Yes, Carter would have been far better off with me....Wink

Valpollicella · 29/07/2011 00:09

Arf LittlePushka.

I thought that before you, so...

LittlePushka · 29/07/2011 00:26

No, Valpollicella, I supported him all through his studies and his residency -got him through the drugs and helped him reconcile his outrageously enormous fortune with his altruistic values ... SO definitely mine.

Bog off. You can have Luca. Might trade you for 24 hours when I need a bit of eastern (bloc) promise Wink

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/07/2011 10:12

Thanks, Valpollicella! Really looking forward to it now.

Am I the only one who doesn't get the Carter thing? I wouldn't say no to Dr Luca Kovac though ...

Steeplearningcurve · 29/07/2011 18:19

Not posted on this board before but you have all reminded me how much I loved ER when I was younger. Used to get my mum to tape it on sky and post it to me at uni! A bit emotional remembering the episode when Lucy and Carter get stabbed, and the helicopter scene was the most shocking moment ever IMO.

Gutted I don't get Atlantic!

practicallyimperfect · 29/07/2011 20:03

Oh I have sobbed today over Lucy. Even though I knew what was going to happen! I love ER!

TorianaTollywobbles · 29/07/2011 22:15

Me too! have just caught up with today's episode. So many things I'd forgotten, like Lucy waking up and knowing what had happened and Romano not wanting to give up on her. Benton not wanting to leave Carter.
Was on tenterhooks all the way through. Just an incredible episode, so emotional .

Just waiting for the blubfest for Dr Greene now

leftblank · 29/07/2011 22:53

Missed this episode first time round. Was bloody brilliant. I was so emotional all the way through and agree Toriana - great moments.

chipstick10 · 03/08/2011 09:00

I never really liked or appreciated Romano the first time round but this time i get him. Hes great.

MelinaM · 04/08/2011 13:31

Love ER, absolutely agree that it's the only medical drama with substance!

Shall have to tune in tomorrow! ...how young they all look!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 04/08/2011 14:07

I adore Romano! He's so fantastically vile. Sort of a precursor, although non-sweary obviously, to Malcolm Tucker.

chickflit · 04/08/2011 15:05

Romano the other week using hospital facilities to operate on his dog but wouldn't let Carrie put in a central line on the mentally disabled girl because it was a waste of resources just because her foster mother wanted to keep her alive. I can't remember what he said now but it was fabulously non PC.

I do shout watch out for helicopters every time he comes on the screen.

LittlePushka · 04/08/2011 22:08

Romano's best line... (which i have used on one occasion!)...

"Who are you and why are you talking to me?"

He is priceless!!!

thefurryone · 05/08/2011 15:36

Hello, also loving watching the sky Atlantic repeats, which have rather conveniently coincided with my maternity leave! Rather embarrassingly have managed to catch up with 14 episodes in 4 days post holiday Blush

Hadn't realised Luca turned up quite so early or that he had a thing with Carol. I do have to marvel at quite how many colleagues he went through!

needanewname · 09/08/2011 17:37

Damn. I'm going to have to buy the box set now!!

DilysPrice · 09/08/2011 17:42

I'm not watching this time round chickflit, so I haven't watched these episodes for several years, but I can still remember the interchange you're talking about
Weaver "It's her daughter!"
Romano "She's her pet."

I love Weaver...and Romano...and Benton, and Carter, and Corday, and Jerry and all the nurses.

tortilla · 09/08/2011 17:43

Another maternity leave Sky Atlantic addict here. And today, while my DD diligently napped until after it ended so I could watch uninterrupted, Carol and Doug got together for good :)

EuphemiaMcGonagall · 09/08/2011 21:29

Damn ER and the number of hankies I get through watching it! Between Mark's dad and Doug and Carol this week, my eyes are red-rimmed!

Favourite Romano line: ( enthusiastically )"Hey! How are you? I haven't seen you in ... ( drops the pretence )... ah, who cares?"
