Just wondering what you are making of it so far!

Casting on the whole is very good, a few things have been changed but have been thinking of what is to come.

Not looking forward to seeing Viserys (even though he deserves it, the arrogant twat!)

Or worse what Theon does when he loses Rickon and Bran!!

My favourite portayal is definitely Peter Drinklage's Tyrion Lannister, he is fab!!

Trillian - Quite enjoyed the lesbian scene myself...although I thought Aiden Gillen's accent was a bit all over the place. A little distracted perhaps?

kennypowers · 31/05/2011 08:14

MrsRB - Arya's story is a long way from resolved in the books, although she features heavily in all of them.

TrillianAstra · 31/05/2011 08:23

Arya is definitely still getting up to interesting things in book 4.

SummerRain · 31/05/2011 09:58

She seems to be getting further and further from where she needs to be though... mentally and physically. I hope he reunites her with her wolf soon Sad

KaraStarbuckThrace · 31/05/2011 21:18

Hmm could have done without the scene with Tywin... I was eating my dinner

Good episode, but oh no, poor Ned.

And my I do think Drogo & Dany were definitely up for a good fuck in the last scene Grin

Arya still doesn't have her wolf back in book 4!? :(

Can't wait for book two to come through my door, I hope it comes tomorrow

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/06/2011 07:05

No I don't think she does, and since book 5 will be focusing on a different set of characters, I think it is more likely to happen in book 6 at the earliest :(

Arya's wolf is referred to on occasion in the books (she seems to have formed a large and rather terrifying wolf pack in one of the forests). I suspect this will become significant towards the end of the books.

TrillianAstra · 01/06/2011 08:36

Arya had a dream of Nymeria. after the red wedding

The wolf is definitely still alive, and definitely at the source of the stories of a scary pack of wolves led by a giant she-wolf.

kennypowers · 01/06/2011 09:03

Trillian - How naughty of you to mention the red wedding!

TrillianAstra · 01/06/2011 09:28

At least I'm being subtle...

kennypowers · 01/06/2011 09:36

I don't do subtle...

At the moment, I'm struggling to remember which events happen in which book - is this in book 2?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/06/2011 09:52

Kenny - I can't remember, I think it is book 2.

OP posts:
CatPower · 01/06/2011 10:20

The Red Wedding? Book three as far as I know.

kennypowers · 01/06/2011 11:11

Actually, I think book 3 is correct because we then get a lot of the Brotherhood Without Banners in 3 and 4...

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/06/2011 15:45

How many episode in this series, btw? Is it 10?

OP posts:
SummerRain · 01/06/2011 16:03

yes 10.

I'm still in shock from reading the red wedding scene and it was months ago. My gob was utterly smacked, I didn't think even George would be so cruel as to cull some of the characters he did!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/06/2011 17:45

I know, it was just horrible wasn't it :(

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 01/06/2011 17:58

I wanr you all - you innocent people who have not read the book syet - GRRM hates you, he hates his characters, he hates everyone!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/06/2011 18:17

Yep would have to agree, more misery and pain to come.

Sometimes it even happens to characters you DON'T Like (like Vicerys!)

OP posts:
CatPower · 01/06/2011 18:31

So much pain and misery.

No one is safe from GRRM's sword of deathkill badness.

No one.

No, not even him. Or her.

SummerRain · 01/06/2011 18:43

Just because you think someone is a pivotal character it doesn't mean George thinks so

Just because you want a character to have a happy ending it doesn't mean George does too

Just because you think a character is good/evil/sexy/annoying doesn't mean George will keep them that way (exhibit A: Jaime)

Just because a character is a child it doesn't mean George won't kill/torture/abuse/rape them

The books should come with a mental health warning... if fragile of disposition, do not attempt to read these books!

TrillianAstra · 01/06/2011 20:34

Jaime gets so much better in the books.

I think in the series they seem to have given him a bit more depth to begin with, for example the whole "if I had stabbed the mad king in the front would it have been better?" thing :o

CatPower · 01/06/2011 22:41

I am soooo looking forward to Jaime and Brienne on screen.

TrillianAstra · 01/06/2011 22:49

Odds on them making Brienne into some Amazonian goddess? She's supposed to be ugly. Plenty of the men you are showing us are ugly. But can TV producers cast a woman without her having to be attractive?
