Just wondering what you are making of it so far!

Casting on the whole is very good, a few things have been changed but have been thinking of what is to come.

Not looking forward to seeing Viserys (even though he deserves it, the arrogant twat!)

Or worse what Theon does when he loses Rickon and Bran!!

My favourite portayal is definitely Peter Drinklage's Tyrion Lannister, he is fab!!

OH MY GIDDY AUNT - I just read the spoiler! Why could I not resist? Wink

TrillianAstra · 23/05/2011 16:01

It also makes it easier to hire acyors hwo will do the roles justice, if you can have adults for Jon/Rob/Dany and older rather than younger children/teenagers for Sansa/Arya/Bran/Joffrey.

I am glad that they didn't make Joffrey too grownup though, it's critical to the plot that he be a spoiled child more than anything else.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 23/05/2011 16:59

Yes indeedy - a spoiled little brat who needs a good smack on the bum! He also gets his comeuppence though hahahahaha.

And Theon does something pretty awful to the Starks Sad

I have to say, for several characters it actually suits their characters better to be a bit older. Robb, Jon and Theon particularly as it's hard to imagine boys so young doing what they do in later books. (Robb is 14 at the startof the series and Theon and Jon not much older)

MrsRhettButler · 23/05/2011 21:28

I read the fucking spoiler! Why why why?

Who is theon? Is he not the king?

ChristinaEliopolis · 23/05/2011 21:31

Theon is Ned's ward - he's the shifty looking young one!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 23/05/2011 22:18

Well there is a big old warning, MrsRB!
It works like a magnet Grin

DH and I have decided that Tyrion reminds us of an old uni friend of ours. Sounds exactly like him!

Heheheheheh bye bye Viserys! Nasty ending for a nasty man!

OP posts:
ChristinaEliopolis · 23/05/2011 22:30

I'm not there yet in the book so the death of the very un-dragonlike Viserys was still a surprise! A nasty way to go but he's been asking for it, the rascal!

kennypowers · 24/05/2011 07:43

I thought Peter Dinklage was absolutely superb last night, especially the scene where he bribes the jailer.

One thing that I really don't like though...where are the Direwolves?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 24/05/2011 08:16

Kenny - funnily enough, I was wondering the same thing! I fully expected them to be with Robb, Bran and Theon in the forest!

OP posts:
SummerRain · 24/05/2011 09:23

They don't seem to be showing them much do they? Sad

The wolves are such a big element of the books, it's a shame they're not using them as much in the show.

I haven't seen last nights yet, dp was out so I had to wait [sulks]

TrillianAstra · 24/05/2011 19:29

I haven't seen Monday's either, but it's called "A Golden Crown" and I know what that means... :o

kitkatya · 24/05/2011 21:50

Is it pointing to the brother and sister having a child? Oh, it confuses the he'll out of me but, I'm totally hooked.

MrsRhettButler · 24/05/2011 22:06

Oooooh is that awful little boy a product of the twins incest? because if cersei hasn't had the kings baby's then how is he a prince?

I know! It said SPOILER! In BIIG letters! I just had to....

Anywhoo, I've just ordered the first book from amazon. yay Grin
I'm hoping the book clears things up for me it's due on Saturday so I shall not be sleeping that night!

TrillianAstra · 24/05/2011 22:25

The awful little boy... oh dear... yes he is rather awful isn't he?

MrsRhettButler · 24/05/2011 23:04

I had to turn away at the golden crown part. I quite like the sister, I forget her name, I guess she's a real dragon then as she can't burn?

And yes, I wondered why the wolves weren't there in the forest

TrillianAstra · 24/05/2011 23:06

Just watched it, where the fuck were the wolves?

V interested to meet Osha though. (I think that's her name) And Bronn.

trixymalixy · 24/05/2011 23:21

I have just finished watching "A Golden crown". Pretty shocking but very much deserved. I am really enjoying GOT, haven't read the books, but think I will wait until the TV series is finished as i hate when it never is as good as the books.

Also a massive BSG fan, watching the re-runs on Sky Atlantic at the moment.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/05/2011 10:18

Trixy - snap! We have all the BSG eps, so will start watching them again.

Yes methinks that the penny has just dropped for Ned wrt to the paternity of Cercei's children...

OP posts:
SummerRain · 25/05/2011 10:33

It takes him a while but he gets there in the end. Joffrey is even worse in the series than in the books... I think they cast him perfectly, such a bratty looking kid Grin

I'm dreading what's to come with Daeny though Sad Such a heartbreaking part of the book (despite the pets she acquires as a result)

TrillianAstra · 25/05/2011 11:59

Did you see the foreshadowing of her become known as "the unburnt"? :o

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/05/2011 12:10

Yes, when she picked the egg up?

Especially when she said about "true dragons don't burn" after Vicerys died.

MrsRhettButler · 26/05/2011 20:13

My book arrived yesterday morning yay! (thanks for the link trillion ) this is the first time I've been back on here since I started reading and I'm nearly at the part we're at in the series now, it's really helped me understand who all the characters are and I'm super excited to know what happens next and I'm gonna know before next Monday! Grin

TrillianAstra · 30/05/2011 21:26

What, no comments on tonight's yet?

Scene with Littlefinger's little whorehouse seemed a bit patronising - viewers will get bored with the awesome character background story so give them some shit lesbian porn to watch while we tell the story.

Ned Stark is a poor doomed fool though. Renyl was right - there was no question of the line of succession when they went and took the throne for Robert.

MrsRhettButler · 30/05/2011 23:34

I missed tonights episode! I saw the last 5 mins only :(
I finished the first book last night and need to go order the second, I'm gonna be soo annoyed when I get to the end of the last book, especially if certain things aren't resolved.
I'm dying to know what's going to happen to arya and daenerys mainly and also if and how the truth comes out about Joffrey.

Can't believe eddard went to the queen! How stupid was that!
I see what you guys were saying about the author killing off characters! I was super surprised and upset with how daenerys and drogo's story went, I wanted it to go so differently
