Why do you need to take nail varnish off for an epidural?

"No mother allowed" - in my birth plan, god bless her but no way!

I thought she was someone doing work experience from the back.

Does nail varnish = no epi then??? Didn't know that! Would have been gutted!

I had my mum and my husband there. And my sister had me, my mum and her husband.

She is thinking for teh blood gas thing in theatre. They ask that you take nail polish off, but i think it's only of fingers!

She is ust covering her bases!

Nail varnish needs to be removed to check perfusion I think, in case of cs or blood loss.

I had an epidural with first baby and I didn't have to take my nailvarnish off-my friend had to when taken in for a c section though.

They whipped my nail polish off before my EMCS. One nurse for each foot. I had spent ages putting it on beautifully.

They need to check your circulation twirly.

I had my mum there for all 4 of mine. Nothing was gonna shift her out of that room. I don't think she even asked me, just assumed that it was okay
