God that episode made me so cross.
First midwife was a complete cow practically mocking pink lady for wanting an epidural, why didn't she sit with her, take her to the bath, encourage her to walk WITH the gas and air and help her instead of sitting around eating biscuits and TALKING about how distressed she was.

She does not deserve to call herself a midwife frankly and I hope she gets fired!

Forceps, OUCH is all I can say of the matter, the force being used was shocking!

Also it seemed strange that the woman in the pink tshirt gave birth on a bed right up against the wall. Surely it is better to have a bed in the middle of the room so that nurses, doctors, DP etc can move round the bed to give the best assistance.

The programme tonight has almost put me off having any more kids. Sad I will try to remember NEVER to watch this when pregnant.
Still, other episodes are less scary, and I suppose that reflects the range of birth experiences that are out there.

That (blond curly) midwife was terrible (by the looks of it) but I would imagine not at all an exception... I had an OK midwife, but not as good as I was hoping for. It is such a shame you can't build a relationship with your MW before the birth - unless you can afford a private one.

I wonder Frankie if that was a delivery room at all? They were fucking surprised when she was fully dilated after all, bitches.

CrosswordAddict · 10/02/2011 11:54

Have just joined this debate. I don't normally watch this programme but I saw the episode and was horrified. The nurses had no empathy with their "Victims" and they told lies consistently to stop those poor women having epidurals or proper pain relief. Ghastly.

YouKnowPoo · 10/02/2011 15:21

cfc yes, it is delivery room, one of the home from home rooms.

Megglevache · 10/02/2011 19:39

I have just seen this on Sky+

God that Julia girl- he mother was a complete numpty, laughing at Dean's jokes and, well not doing anything else other than making big cow eyes at him. Hmm Very useful as a birth partner.

cfc · 10/02/2011 22:19

YKP - thanks for that, strange that you can't access that end of the bed from all angles though?

YouKnowPoo · 11/02/2011 16:02

The bed was in the middle with access on both sides when I was in it.
